  1. Should anyone never have heard this, then here is 3 minutes of perfection.
  2. I know she'd been ill for quite a while but nevertheless still such a shock - am so saddened by the news. Aretha was THE female soul voice of our time, and she leaves behind a legacy of simply wonderful music. RIP Aretha.
  3. Yup, they do. It wouldn't be a 57 style model if it had the rosewood board - Fender didn't introduce these until 1959, with the maple option only becoming available again in the late 60's. IIRC.
  4. I would say all your thoughts are bang on - 57 with maple / 62 with rosewood etc. Maybe someone with both decided to swap them over or something?
  5. Just had an email with from LBA with some discounted Celestion Neos in as well as others. May be worth a look. Cheers, Pete. https://mailchi.mp/lean-business.co.uk/lean-business-audios-exclusive-discounts?e=4f77f937f8
  6. Why is it I always seem to like every bass you have for sale Paul?!! Wish I had the funds for this beauty, GLWTS. Cheers, Pete.
  7. I went to Gruhn's place, proper shop or what?!! Always had a thing for 60's Gibson cherry stuff, have had GAS for a 335 for longer than I care to remember. Some of the reissues have come close, but nothing quite captures that colour of an original. Nice story too Josie.
  8. Absolutely - great faded cherry, love it.
  9. Cheers Mart. Wish it was my damned YOB, you young whippersnapper....😅
  10. Wow, stunning!
  11. Sounds fab - pic(s)?
  12. My 63 P-bass. Originally belonged to a great friend and bandmate who tragically lost his life in road accident. I acquired the bass from his widow, who had unfortunately stored it in her loft, causing all the paint to peel off the body, and the frets turn green. I had it restored by Paulman in Huddersfield some 30 years ago, and it remains my Number One to this day.
  13. Bit of a GK fanboy - my favourite is my 800RB which was my first GK head. Still got it, and definitely a keeper. The 700 and 1001 are quite similar, with some people preferring the 700 for dirtier rocky stuff, although I prefer the headroom of the 1001. They are both belting amps though, neither lacking in volume and grunt. To be honest, I don't think there's a world of difference between the older GK amps and their class D stuff (runs for cover....)
  14. Just to play devil’s advocate for a second - I went from an (admittedly older ) Ashdown ABM 500 to GK stuff, and was shocked at how much better it was, for me anyway. Used their 700RB for years and loved it, later only swapping it for a 1001RB which I still use. Also got an MB800, great little amp as well. Just sayin....😀
  15. Possibly Big Deal on Eastgate (or before that just round the corner at the top of Vicar Lane?) Was only looking in there last week , plenty of stuff but the prices now have gone crazy - damned internet made them far too savvy 😕 My first bass was probably a second series JV Squier Precision, 57 style, Black with maple neck. Wish I’d kept that one. Think it was replaced by a late 70’s sunburst US Precision , bought in Leeds, possibly from Big Deal. Got it for £195 IIRC, but was total rubbish. Heavy , dead and sounded dull as anything. Being an American Fender though it wasn’t hard to move on, and for a small profit too 😊. Was replaced by my 63 P-bass which I still have and always will.
  16. Thinking about it, maybe 10 actually. 63 P bass Fender Precision Lytes x3 ( Sunburst x2 and Frost White) - all late models with chrome h/w. Bought these as probably the lightest basses I can use for the gigs I do. My main one has done hundreds of gigs, the others are for when it wears out! P-bass -unbranded metallic red with matching headstock (kept as stage spare, only used it twice I think). Danelectro Longhorn in blueburst - early Korean reissue Washburn AB 20 electro acoustic s/b Taylor GS Mini-e electro acoustic Countryman Uke bass Tanglewood Elfin mini P- bass ( bought when I broke my shoulder to get me back into gigging! ) Great seeing some of the serious collections on here. Of course, had to show them to Mrs CP so she could see how miserable my few seem now....😂
  17. Keith has been using 355's for a while now, if its' good enough for him etc...🙂
  18. OP edited - code is just for plectrums (plectra?), apologies!
  19. Strings Direct have a 20% discount on plectrums at check out, using the code PICKS20 Ends Sunday 12th August at 23.59. Cheers.
  20. Great story, well done! Still got the MM bass as well?
  21. 9 currently, but looking to offload a couple fairly soon 😞
  22. I am Mart, but realise it's only a dream.... Or is it....?!! Sounds promising, will watch with interest.
  23. Any idea how light please? 🙂
  24. Good advice - get on the Trace bandwagon now whilst there are still bargains to be had! You won't lose money should you want to change your mind (if you buy at the right price- you may even make a little more back! ) , and there seems to be no shortage of Trace stuff kicking about at the moment. Go for a 250 / 300 watt combo or head with a suitable cab.
