1.

+1 Pics or there is NO pickguard. You made it up.
Yep, I totally made it up. A complete fib!! Lol When the weather improves & I can take a decent pic, I'll post it. It is a plain black pickguard, so erm, don't get too excited will you..... The main point of the post was about the actual fit though, which is spot on.
 2. I just got one for my Maruszczyk 5 string. A perfect fit & turned around in a couple of days. I sent my original pickguard to them by post as they computer scan to produce an exact replacement. Mine was for a plain black 3 ply, & it cost £53 inc postage which is quite pricey for a pickguard, but fair enough I reckon to ensure an exact fit. Nice one.
 3.
From memory, I would suspect that they're wired separately. IIRC, one switches between the 9v & 18v Active circuits, the other switches between Passive & Active.
Thanks for that, although perhaps I haven't posed my question clearly enough. I'm interested in buying a Thunder 1A, but one of the toggle switches has broken off. The bass is not close enough for me to inspect, so I am trying to work out whether it's just the toggle switch I would have to replace (easy) or the electronic part that it controls too if it's one piece (altogether more difficult given the basses age & what exactly that particular piece of electronics is & could you even buy a replacement now?) I'm 90% sure it's the one part.
 4. Anyone know if the toggle switches are a physical part of the electronics they are attached to in the control cavity, or are they separate & connected by wire? If they are one & the same item, can you get a modern day direct replacement? Many thanks.
 5. Erm, there might be a few here..... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/136517-fretless-porn/
 6. Had a MIJ Geddy Lee Jazz for 8 years but that's long gone. I've only got my two Maruszczyk's now & they were both obtained this year........
 7. Short scales aren't for me, but that's a lovely bass & a nice purchase for the buyer.
 8. I'd love to be able to slap well, but unfortunately have a massive talent shortage in that regard!! One of the great things about the bass guitar is it's awesome variation - 4, 5, 6 strings & beyond, fretless, chordal playing, different sounds from pickups & strings, fingerplaying & pick styles & any combination of any of those things. Slap is another variation & is unique to our chosen instrument. As bassist's I thing it is wrong to dismiss it for that reason. Use it if you want to if it musically fits - why the hell not? It's a great sound. Right, who wants to start the thread about why chorused fretless playing is no longer mainstream?!?! Lol
I was going to buy a B/W/B plate - are you flogging the one you're having replaced?
Mine's for a five string, not a four.
Certainly is - looks the part on this particular finish.
It does indeed. Funnily enough I sent my black/white/black pickguard to SimS custom shop last week asking them to replicate in plain black. Although in red, I have them same type of finish on my Elwood.
My Elwood 4p with its new East J-Tone pre-amp - photographed yesterday.
Very nice - was that a standard plain black pick guard?
 12. Yep, someone's going to be very pleased for sure. Another Bass Chatter or sold elsewhere?
 13.
Can anyone see a good reason not to go ahead?
Nope!! (black nut though?)
 14.
Just wondering what folks would suggest as a good reproduction of a 60's p bass? Really looking for a 60's version of the Fender Roadworn 50's P bass. Doesn't necessarily need to be reliced, but would like something with rolled fingerboard edges, etc so it FEELS like it's been played since the 60's. The 3 that come to my mind are Bravewood, Moollon (maybe) and Maruszczyk. Just wondering what everyone else would suggest?
With your available budget, I'd be getting on to Maruszczyk to get your own spec built.
 15. The Fender ones are really good, although a dab of superglue on the thread of the part that goes on the strap is a good idea. Would appeal to those 'functional engineering' types! Lol Obviously look better on a Fender though.......!
 16.
Does high action sound better than low action? No. . . . it depends how your bass is set up and how you play it. If your strings are hitting the frets to the point that the notes are prevented from sounding good then it's either a bad set up or inappropriate technique. Don't blame the action! You've got to make sure the frets are even
I agree with this. Makes sense that a string not hitting anything as it vibrates is going to ring 'truer'. Also, the gap between pickups & string is a factor. If you can run with a totally buzz free low action, you might have to lower the pickups too. Something I've read somewhere about 'microphonics' or some such thing I don't really understand!!
 17.
when you make your first mistake, and you will, we all do, DON'T look like a startled rabbit in the spotlight. Play on as if nothing happened.
This. Have a face that projects the epitome of a cool head & that every note played was the right one regardless. By half way through the first song, the nerves will go & you'll start having a blast! Enjoy!
 18. Cool bass. What pre-amp did it come with?
 19. Having had both in the past, I would definitely hang on to the Highway One.
 20.
Reinier suggested sending his bass first as I had feedback on here with me then sending mine back when I've confirmed everything is o.k. This was a great leap of faith on his part and I completely applaud him for it.
Agreed - definitely fair play on his part. However you've earned that trust through the quality of your BC dealing over a number of years.
 21.
Come to daddy !
That looks awesome!
 22. So, I was on my hols chillin' which gave me time to read all this thread - yep, every page.....! One thing it gave me was some good history on my Elwood 5 string. Looks like BC member AREA purchased it on a visit to Adrian's shop in 2015. Then last year I think another BC member, Bubinga5 (Andrew), bought it from him. The original spec had chrome knobs, Delano pickups & a Glockenlang pre amp. Not sure who changed the knobs & Glockenlang, but Andrew put the current Bartolini pickups in it. The knobs are now 'Fender' style & the pre amp is a Delano 2 band. I became the third owner in March this year when I travelled up Evesham way to buy the bass from Andrew. I know personal to me as I own the thing, but understanding some of its history i found quite interesting! I think AREA has switched to Sire's, & that's the brand I switched away from to get the Maruszczyk's - funny how it goes. The other i thing I noticed was that despite this being a massive thread, there's not too many contributors. I reckon it's current owners trying to keep the brand under the radar, so that Adrian's builders aren't too busy when they place an order! Lol Perhaps just an exclusive club that once you've got one you 'get it' & then trust the brand. (Ps; for anybody interested, I've started a 'Maruszczyk Owners UK' group on Facebook, to compliment this great BC thread)
 23. The 'Frog' (not the best model name ever....) is now available on the configurator. More hours of my life to be lost......
