  1. So what I was looking to buy has now unfortunately been sold. I only really need one 5 string, so happy to also consider trades for a 4 string with me trading up. Have got some cash to add in to a possible deal. I’d only be interested in active basses though, & I don’t like posting instruments so we’d have to meet up to exchange. Saying that, from Swindon an hours travel in any direction gets me quite far!
  2. Don’t want to miss out on what I’ve got my eye on, so price drop to what’s got to be bargain territory now?
  3. In action with this bass at a festival last summer. Thunderous & looked the bollox! The current new equivalent of these basses are circa £1400 - £1500 now.…
  4. Ok to post this for sale link here? Seems potentially pertinent to anyone following this thread. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/488936-ibanez-btb-1905-premium-5-string/
  5. I was only looking to sell this as something else had caught my eye, & I would need to generate some funds to go towards purchasing that. Feel free to pm me with what you were thinking of though.
  6. Stunning high spec active 5 string bass. Apart from a small ding in the lower body, virtually mint. Comes with a fitted Ibanez case. Aguilar DCB pickups Ibanez custom 9v electronics 3-band EQ and 3-way mid frequency switch Neck-through construction Zero fret Neutrik locking output jack MR5 monorail bridge Gotoh GB707 machineheads Neck 9-Piece Panga Panga/Purpleheart/Maple Graphite Reinforcement Rods Fingerboard Material Bound Panga Panga Fingerboard Inlay Abalone Side Dot 24 Medium Stainless Steel with Premium Fret Edge Treatment 19mm string spacing 35” scale Schaller strap locks Plays superbly, & a nice quiet preamp you can pretty much get any sound from. Collection from Swindon or will meet up to an hour away (no postage)
  7. Apart from my fretless (talent shortfall 😆), I rotate all my others for gigs. Regarding insurance, I’ve specified my Spector & Maruszczyk individually on my home contents policy due to their new replacement costs. I should probably think about doing the same with the Ibby’s because they’re not too much different now…. 🤔. I like to use all my basses live - that’s what I bought them for.
  8. This used to be mine - traded it to Bass Direct when I needed to free up some cash for another 5 string. Apart from it being a fretless, I still have its ‘twin’’. This bass certainly both played & sounded awesome when I had it. Priced about right I’d say - GLWTS!
  9. Oddly no. I’ve played all sorts over the years. If the band output sounds good, then I enjoy whatever it is I’m playing. Have played many a song which otherwise I wouldn’t have ever even listened to. Can’t explain it really. Weird 😆.
  10. Withdrawn. Have decided to keep it 🙂.
  11. See that Bass Direct currently have a couple of used Elwoods for sale at £1100 & £1300……..
  12. Would suggest that one of these new would be circa £1500 (& that’s without the £100 case), so at almost half that price, this should be a great deal for a cracking bass. 🙂
  13. It very much is. If the other bass I’ve got my eye on sells, I’ll happily keep this one 🙂
  14. Try the EQ changes with the plectrum then first. If that gets you the sound you want, then greenbacks saved!
  15. Alternatively if it’s a ‘clanky’ sound you’re after change this, because the ‘clank’ won’t be coming from the bass end of the frequency spectrum. Try this - reduce the bass boost, significantly increase the low mids, & add treble to flavour. If you’re not already, playing with a plectrum & flatwound strings might help too.
  16. Still not quite following the logic of the mod. You can boost bass & mids on the bass, but also cut the treble by up to 15db’s so there’s a ton of adjustment at your finger tips. By so say boosting the output on the pre-amp overall, you’re just moving the adjustment of the input gain from one place to another. It will clip sooner with that mod, so you’ll be turning your main input gain control down to compensate which is self defeating. You’ve got a signal chain with lots of knobs on - if you can’t get the tone you want, I’d be looking at that if it were me.
  17. I may be missing something here, but he’s saying the tone is thin at the centre point of the pre amp, & that the mod adds 6 DB’s to the output. But doesn’t each of the three tone controls boost by something like 15 to 20DB’s? Wouldn’t the 1 second ‘mod’ be to actually use the tone knobs then? 🤔
  18. Thought I was done buying basses, but something on here has caught my eye. This is only up for sale whilst that one is available. I’ve had this bass since new. In excellent condition - only light surface hard to see scratches. Lovely playable neck which is more a C profile even though on a Jazz body. Delano pickups & 2 band preamp. Comes with the more robust Maruszczyk branded GBBS nylon gigbag, & a Maruszczyk leather strap. Has Schaller straplocks fitted. No postage. Collection or will meet up to an hour away from Swindon.
  19. It is indeed a 2600. Intriguingly both those basses have inherently different core tones. The 2405 has a very dark tone, whilst the 2600 is naturally very bright. There is the same pre-amp in each, but that is flexible enough that I can get ‘my’ sound easily out of each instrument no problem.
