2.
I remember hearing him say that he was very influenced by the Duran Duran bass player. Can't remember his name, the one that Mrs RR used to fancy
John Taylor? I suppose I can understand that. Neither are root note plodders.
 3. I believe she played on the theme for the Vietnam based black comedy M*A*S*H which actually got to number one and was subsequently covered by the Manic Street Preachers.

 8. I dont get attached to basses, they are just bits of wood and metal. Tools for the job. I have had many over the years. I can remember my first 3, but after that its a bit of a blur.
 9.
Yes, and cats! Sometimes I've thought I heard the cat miaowing outside the door, and then realised it was something in the music. I can't think of any specific tracks though and it's always when I'm listening to the radio rather than records. Something to do with higher frequencies?
Theres a cat meowing in the solo of Middle of the road by the pretenders! i am sure of it.
 10. I used to imagine I could hear someone shouting "f***ing Hell!" on The Beatles Hey Jude. Many years later it turns out I was right all along! 11. Play the open E and kill it with your left hand when you want to mute it. Keep your left hand in the position you are going to play the D. I,m afraid there is no easy way to tell you (as will everybody else on here will agree) that it will come with practice.
 12. Maybe its pricey because the guy who did the refin also did Wilkos famous black tele and Normans Jazz bass!
 13. Just goes to show how less is more. The first one is really all that tune need IMO. The 3rd one would probably get my vote too if it didnt remind me of Its My Life.
 14. If your father was alive today, he would turn over in his grave!!
 15. If you play hard with a pick they do wear out quicker (In my case anyway)
 16.
the same colour as the inside of a kitten. wait a minute, I'll prove it...
IBTL
 17.
wow. and again, wow. insecure, much? "WE, THE GREATER, HAVE COMPLETED A FINE RENDITION OF OUR MUSICAL ABILITY UNTO YOU, THE LESSER. LAVISH US WITH YOUR LOVE AND MONIES."
Oh! I see the windup merchants back!!
 18.
I think 'someone' has been playing a great big joke, that most here have missed.
I thought in the back of my mind that the OP was a windup!
 19.
jeez... talk about thread hijacking. if you were my apprentices you'd all be fired. enjoy your muffled bass tones, folks!
I had a Whirlwind cable many years back. I remember it was orange. It was very muffled.
 20.
if there wasn't a floor it would've been much more difficult! mmm, sparkling highs. I've bypassed the horn on my cab now, sounds 'warm' and 'airy' with the Magenta cable!
I think Pete meant 'Flaw' Although I agree with you that without a floor it would go through the roof!!
 21. Agreed. If I were you I would look at one of these. You can connect it up and jam along to music. 22. The little solo bass bit sounds out of time. But I like it, sounds very early REM to me. Agree about the snare and kick sound and more bottom on the bass (What was it a P bass?) Also maybe too much compression on the guitar
 23. Yes, it is a bit overpriced. I would try and find an unmolested one for less than that.
 24. You need a bottle of elbow grease, that'll sort it out!
 25.
ah yes thats it... my mistake... I do enjoy a bit of Bananaman.
I like a bit of Bananarama!
