Looking at this for my markbass mini cmd 121 combo. I have a couple of questions. How do you connect it to the combo? What is the dial on the side for? I have only ever used a bass combo amp in my recent years, and technology has moved on.

I recently moved over to E.B nickle strings after using a mates bass and much preferred the feel and tone to the Rotosound steels I had been using for years. I find the zing goes about the same time as the Rotos, so I dont hold with the belief in some players that nickles die quicker.

Angie by The Stones. I have created my own bass line for it, using elements of different songs I have pinched. The band always comment on how good it sounds.

I dont bother wiping them after a gig. I always change my strings every 3 months anyway.

Harley Bentons are getting top reviews. As are J&D

I must confess I use them more and more these days. I used to sit there with a cup of milky tea and a cream horn, listening to the song and stopping and starting it to pick the bass line out. Now with tabs and you tube I have been getting very lazy.

I,m still a bit shocked actually! But this evening I was searching Youtube for some 2 Tone Ska stuff by The Specials for some Sir Horace bass content, when I came across this song which I had never heard before. I was familiar with the 2 Tone stuff as a teenager, but a song called 'The Boiler' which I had never heard at all in 30 odd years came up so I thought I would give it a listen. The singer was Rhoda Dakar who sang lead with The Bodysnatchers. The song (If You can call it that) is a 12 bar rocksteady feel with Rhoda talking not singing the vocal. The subject deals with violence against women and rape. The last 60 seconds of the piece are so disturbing that I needed a large scotch to calm down. I wont post the link on here but the inquisitive among you will find it. Sorry to bring down your evening, but I needed to vent. Hobbayne
