  1. Nope, wouldn't be much point. It could only capture the "tone" of the Oc-2 and not the effect, so you'd have to combine it with their pitch shift block, which would produce an altogether much less accurate version of an OC-2 than their full model does.
  2. Plastic?! Wow, talking about taking advantage of this odd obsession people have with saving a few grams on an instrument weighing thousands. Mad.
  3. I've changed my mind on this a dozen times over the last few weeks. I'm a digital Quad Cortex fella and I think the new OC-2 model on there, whilst definitely not having the magic of this (see my comments in the Quad Cortex thread), is good enough for me and my (very sporadic) needs to struggle to justify keeping this. The serial number dates this one back to June 1982, so in the first few months of production. I bought 5 different OC-2s last year in search of one that tracked and sounded the best to pair with my Chunk synth, and this won out over other Japanese and Taiwanese models, its everything you want an OC-2 to sounds like. Rubbery, glitchy, deep and wonderful. Condition as photographed, in great condition, grommet intact, label intact, just some scratches but otherwise great and works perfectly. Remember this is an ACA pedal so it wants 12v from a psu, but it still takes a 9v battery. It doesn't come in a box, but will be well packed for shipping. Price includes next day courier. Will sell abroad for additional actual postage costs, and would suggest insurance too. In no huge rush to sell. Trade wise i'm only really looking at a Sushi Box valve DI at the moment, otherwise cash is king. Cheers
  4. Oh I have another one. A multiscale 5 string built by Blasius. Really cool looking bass, bought blind for a really good price for a luthier built bass with a huge spec. Took delivery, definitely the closest to hate I've been. I just didn't like the thing at all, yet objectively there was nothing wrong with it. Balanced well, good weight, very good playability, disliked the tone but I struggle with most EMG sets. But I just didn't gel with it whatsoever. It was sold back to a previous owner the next day. Probably the last time I'll ever buy something completely blind I.e. not having at least played the same model before.
  5. I guess expense can depend mostly on the starting point. The starting point for me was a pedalboard with Darkglass preamps and range of different effects pedals and switchers. For me, after selling all of the stuff from the board I had more money raised than the QC cost and, considering what extra I get from the QC, the QC was a bargain and a far better use of money. But If you're starting from scratch, the perspective will be totally different. What I would say is that whilst I too thought the QC was far too much for what I needed, now I have it and rely on things I didn't know I would, I don't know how i'd go back now. Which I guess is a good and bad thing!
  6. If budget isn't an issue, I'd really spend some time with a QC, maybe ask to borrow one from one of your guitarists? Its overkill, but at the same time it offers an awful lot that you won't get from more basic processors. You'll find captures of just about any amp on Cortex Cloud, just about any drive pedal, you can route them any way you want, multiple DIs and outputs, different scenes or presets for different tracks/sets, the possibilities are endless. Not much of a learning curve either really, the UI is very intuitive and the big touch screen makes things very easy. A world apart from your old Zoom!!
  7. Old trick to stop the clank when strings hit the magnets if you have an aggressive attack and the pickup high/action low.
  8. Confident of a long run this year!
  9. Interesting camera angle trick here, the scale lengths look identical! The Lakland looks lovely but more pictures would certainly help, battle scars and all!
  10. A statement from Nick's sister. These words are not the ones we wanted to share. Our greatest fears were sadly confirmed late last night. My talented, kind, funny, annoying at times big brother has left us for pastures new. He has been promoted to fly above us and guide those he leaves behind. While our hearts are breaking and our minds running overtime, he is at peace. I would like to ask that you can allow us time to process this news. Many of you have so many stories and tales about Nick, and we thank all of you for you kindness, time looking for him over the last 2 days and the lovely messages I have received. I am overwhelmed with how many people have been out searching for him. He was all long very close by. Just resting peacefully as we all chased up and down Northbank frantically searching. I hope he can look down and see how much he was, and is loved. One of life’s good guys . Nick you are, and always will be a legend amongst your followers friends, your music family and our own family. A self taught talented musician. A guy who made people smile, an inspiration to many young and old budding musicians. Globally recognised, and always spoken so highly by others. Good night my big brother. I already miss you so much Fly high RIP xxxx
  11. Sadly his sister has confirmed it's related, though there's no news yet. Fingers crossed its just a line of enquiry.
  12. Where is Sound Affects? That's hell of an offer really from a shop, especially the cash price. Their margin on that after booking it in, marketing it etc would be pretty small, unless they're an expensive shop.
  13. Blast from the past, I think I was its keeper what must be at least a decade or so ago? Can't be many Holly topped Zoids around. This was a great bass, lowest action i've ever achieved on a bass, pickups and preamp package are great, it was built for EADGC tuning but I had it in B standard and the B was huge! Lovely stuff, GLTWS
  14. I've got something to complain about! Why do we have to totally oversaturate the market? 😅 There's so many of these types of basses now and I swear they're all made in the same factory.
  15. The video is concerning, as said he looked inebriated or in the midst of a medical episode. Lets hope it was the former and he turns up soon

    Envelope filters

Chunk's website is still up with all the demo's on, worth checking out!

That's made me want to give the EHX a go! The filter/fuzz sounds I get out of my Chunk I can't ever imagine anything by EHX pulling off, so I'm intrigued!
  18. StingRays are interesting. I was kinda similar, I always wanted a US 4 string StingRay and when I finally owned one (2003 ish model) I was terribly underwhelmed with it. Heavy, brittle tone, uncomfortable to play, hate would be too strong a word but just had no connection with it at all. Yet I loved the sound of them on records and practically learned to play on an 00's SUB from the same period. I sold it pretty quickly. I've since owned two other US StingRays (a sold Special and a 2016 PDN I very much still have) and adored them both and were everything I hoped they would be. I guess there are always bad ones of everything!
  19. Aren't Bax the one that offer a 30 day trial period on their products? Doesn't bode well for that if they make a meal out of sorting out missing/faulty goods...
  20. PMT? Bax? Andertons? Are there any shops left that haven't hurt you Ed? General used rate online for the Ric seems to be around the £2k mark, so being offered half its value by a big chain shop, whilst shocking, doesn't sound totally alien to me. Best just to sell it privately and hopefully pocket a bit of change! Is there a guitar equivalent of the likes of Bassbros? Will offers really fair prices i've heard, your better bet is trying to sell to someone smaller, and I assume some will buy if its a desirable bit of kit. But they naturally need to make a decent profit.
  21. Congrats! The Masterbuilt Warwicks are truly different instruments to the ones that came before, they feel like incredibly premium instruments.
  22. I wish I could use Newtone, but sadly my only experiences with them have been negative. I think I've used them three times. Each time the order has taken over 2 weeks, over their own estimate but not the end of the world for handmade to order strings. But each order has also been wrong. Wrong gauges, string missing, no taper, with another 2 weeks to have it resolved. I recall finding the strings a little unbalanced tonally as well between gauges. It's a shame, and by all accounts people generally don't seem to have an issue, but these orders were spread over 10 years or so and to have 3 consecutive problems has just put me right off sadly.
  23. Plenty of small businesses rely on eBay as a way of selling their products without having their own online presence. There are many eBay accounts that are licensed dealers 👍
  24. Lovely bass. So was this a precursor to the Squier series? I know the earliest JV Squiers in '82 were branded Fender but had "Squier Series" at the end of the headstock, so did this come before those?
