  1. I just want a better answer than "1 works for me"
  2. So if something did happen that rendered the bass unplayable, jack socket failure, tuning peg snapping, pickup screw failing etc, would you just sit the rest of the gig out or would your band stop playing and call it a night?
  3. I suppose those that don't have adequate control over something like that happening probably do. However well maintained my basses are, something going wrong is ultimately out of my control, why risk it? My band's live setup is pretty complex, with dmx triggered lighting shows, midi triggered patch changes, backing tracks, IEMs, clicks, the works. It's all run off one rack and effectively a macbook, and we are far from being able to afford to have a backup rig. If the macbook dies on the day, we can't gig. It TERRIFIES me, so I like to control what I can control wherever I can.

No, not sure of the exact model but proper US Jazz pickups.

I had the Dave Hollingworth signature model, it was a nice bass but felt like it was built to a budget, and the Bart pickups were oddly quiet (i'd had the same in other basses and they have been fine before).
  6. For those who don't take a backup, is it because you literally don't have one, or you just don't want to, or physically can't, take an extra instrument with you? I kinda get that people are saying that they've never had a problem in xxxx gigs so don't need it (I suppose they don't have fully comp car/home/breakdown insurance for similar reasons? As ultimately that's all taking a backup bass is), but its such a minimal effort if you use a vehicle to get to gigs that I just don't really get why you wouldn't, however unlikely it may be.
  7. I've thankfully never had to use a backup, but I've seen many who have needed one who didn't bring one and have either had to stop the gig, try and restring or otherwise transcribe as they go, and it looks totally unprofressional. It's an anxiety I don't need
  8. Always two. Have to have at least one as a backup, and i'll often use them both for different tunings. I'd never take more than two unless I have rodies
  9. You should get this up on Bassbros bud, they'd probably sell it pretty quickly to someone over the pond, Wals don't hang around long with them.
  10. To be honest the only one that stands out as being TOO cheap is the Mesa, mainly because I don't know anything about the Arkham and I swore I had a similar Jazz that didn't go for a huge amount more. I think they would have scammed many more if he'd have gone the FB route instead, that's assuming they haven't...
  11. Bugger, I just crafted the perfect 73 character password.
  12. You don't need an email address to log into Basschat, just a username and password is enough. I think you can choose username or email off memory.
  13. Hopefully if you contact Paypal or your bank and explain what happened, they may be able to do something for you. I know its already been said countless times before, but please, please don't use Paypal F&F to buy anything on here unless they ARE your friend or family and you know its them. Insist on normal goods/services paypal, and if the fee is an issue for the seller, offer to pay the extra 3% to cover it (and yourself). If they still don't agree to use it, and cash on collection isn't an option, run a mile. Thanks to those who reported the threads and alerted the team, we acted as quickly as we could. An event like this is VERY rare on Basschat but everyone needs to remain vigilant, especially when it comes to sending money to people you don't know in an insecure way. And yeah, if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't.
  14. Well done to those who reported the "too cheap" sales threads tonight, hopefully saved a few people from scams!

  15. Does anyone have a Mono Tick case they aren't using?  DM me!!

  16. I made an unattractive snort when I saw this, bravo And wow, now stop showing me pictures before I do myself a mischief....
  17. Feel like we need a scale shot of this one, that's crazy light for what it is! Lovely looking thing!
  18. Another excuse for a snap of this beauty, but I posted a thread others may have missed looking for a high quality case that fits headless basses well, and can confirm that the Mono Vertigo guitar case is a perfect fit for mine. Expensive but can highly recommend!
  19. Sounds nice, something of a mid way point between a Stingray and a Wal tone, modern sounding but has some of that mid character.
  20. Interesting read. I am thinking of picking up a Lekato MS-1 for live use. Band is struggling along on a basic Gear4music IEM system and the receivers are becoming less and less reliable, so i'm wondering if this is a short term solution to risking silence at a gig, if they will work well enough, before I magic up the money for a proper system.
  21. I would have agreed with you without trying it as it looks like it would pull the body away from you going under, but I actually found going over knocked the balance a bit off for me. Not sure if its just the strap or the way I wear it, but it was tugging the top horn up too much, much preferred it this way. Wish I could have it the other way, as it would mean I could use the same strap on both basses!
  22. Took the M4 on stage for the first time last night, had a great time and had plenty of suitors!
  23. I'm not in a position to help financially buddy, I think we're all feeling it horrifically at the moment, but if there is anything else the forum collective can do then happy to help 🖤
  24. Used Flea does seem your best bet, they sound fantastic and the relicing isn't awful. Tight budgets its always best to buy used on here or Reverg/eBay (I'd avoid Facebook etc unless you can play them first), most bang for buck and you'll likely lose very little if it isn't for you.
  25. Have to say, at ~£1,500, it shouldn't have any flaws. I'd have sent it back for the issues you've listed if you paid anything like that. I agree that I would rather they drop the fancy woods and fancy features than have a bass with a myriad of finishing issues and just build a good bass worthy of the price point. Dingwall absolutely nailed that whole ideology with the combustion series, though sadly they're becoming far from affordable now.
