  1. Bugger, forgot about this. New DI = me out
  2. Top tip; in your designated User Group, its best you don't ask
  3. Its mainly just been things like uneven frets/fret ends, loose soldering, poor setup, just all budget bass kinda stuff really that i've read aboout, which for a four figure bass isn't really a goer. He also irked me when I asked for a quote on a copy of Chris Squire's Ric; I asked for a price on one which he gave, which was a little more than I expected but I was ready to go for it, and then when I double checked it came with the toaster/horseshoe pickup and oversized headstock, he wanted to up the price by another 20 % odd to cover it, despite having made clear from the start its what I wanted. And then I read about the issues, so decided against!
  4. Love the look of HW's work, but reading SO many stories about the basses arriving with silly issues needing tech attention completely put me off, they cost too much to have to worry about stuff like this for sure. Hope any issues are set right for you, and naturally he should be covering shipping costs unless you're imagining the issues! Did he really not offer?
  5. Indeed! Can't wait to take it out tonight with the Evanescence tribute and be told by my bandmates they can't tell the difference. At least it's pretty.
  6. NPD for me, a Sushi Box FX Neptunium. Love what its doing. I'm using it in conjunction with a Quad Cortex in such a way that the QC chain is running into it, and the XLR output is running back into the QC before being sent out to FoH/IEMs. This way, I get the lovely tube warmth and magic with a quick on the fly adjustable preamp, with a fallback DI available with just a couple of cable switcheroos. I also use the QC as a recording/practice interface, so keeping the Np within the QC workflow is necessary. As shown in the pic, im getting great results by boosting the bass and flicking the cut switch to really thicken stuff out without adding the boom, and the treble brings back some sparkle absorbed by the tube. Instantly sound better, love it!
  7. i'm gigging in Bracknell on the Sat so i'm not really going to be able to make it on the Sat as planned, but i'm not ruling out sunday yet! Perhaps i'll wait until I see Sat feedback first! 😅
  8. Yeah that wasn't clear - its a different one of Nathan's preamps I've received (Neptunium), 12AU7 in mine, haven't check if they're JJs or not but imagine they will be given its Noble's valve of choice too.
  9. Different tubes so hopefully all good, i'll find out later!
  10. Interestingly, the same thing happened with me this morning. Paid customs fee and an hour later, it said it was held again. Fortunately the DO is close enough for me to drop in before work! The guy said it is because the sorting office that set the fee and when it is scanned again at the DO, it doesn't update without manual intervention, the DO needs to scan it again after verifying payment.
  11. Looks and sounds fantastic, a truly modern bass synth in a really useable floor unit.
  12. It's just how close the times are, what time did you pay it, at the time it says? Check it tomorrow morning, you'll probably find it has updated.
  13. i wouldn't worry about that until at least tomorrow evening, you get odd duplicate stuff on tracking all the time.
  14. Judging by the power draw, I'd assume all digital. Kinda the direction Darkglass has gone on these days, not a bad thing necessarily but when you consider the price of these preamp, buy a couple of them and you may as well get a full digital processor and get a hell of a lot more.
  15. And the worst possible place for a footswitch to go award goes to...
  16. That would be the ongoing debate part At the moment, the guidelines are as you've quoted. Given almost any topic can be made political, hardline banning "politics" is practically impossible. Until we come up with something better, please use these guides and report things you think clearly breach them.
  17. That'll do, ta.
  18. We ask that members avoid political discussions. Unfortunately, many members choose to ignore that rule. Its on ongoing debate with the mod/admin team if I'm honest. We tend to respond to reports at the moment, some are in favour of a hardline ban, others designated threads. We'll ty and be as transparent as possible.
  19. Kev

    Neural Quad Cortex

Cioks user here too, although not forked out for a Crux yet, still using the old doubler cable method.
  20. I think this is one of those things that bassists with valve heads and 8x10 rigs like to talk about, but I've never experienced the "feel" of a cab behind me. Perhaps if I stood still at the back of the stage in front of the speaker, but I'm all over the place. I've gigged without any backline since 2019 and I don't miss it at all.
  21. Oh in that case yes I go straight to FoH/IEMs, i've never used a power amp with it. I think perhaps once or twice i've plugged in to the effects loop return of a practice room amp, but no i'm strictly one of those modern w*nkers
  22. I think it's just the common sense advice really. If you can try first, absolutely do. If it's not practical, take each bass as it comes, some are bigger risks than others. When buying an off the shelf new bass though, I HAVE to try first, as they can vary so much, i'd want to know that I had the best one the shop had that day.
  23. When you say power, do you mean how do I power the unit, or what power amp do I connect it to?
  24. That's my pick, as the bridge actually fits on the bloody bass...
