Squier JV ‘57 Precision Bass 1983 MIJ Modded on hold - *WITHDRAWN*

As I’ve just bought a fully original version this lovely old Squier JV model is now available. It is from the classic early 80’s period made in Japan and is in great condition. The neck is lovely with birdseye figuring and a very flat profile. Frets are in great condition and the trussrod works as it ought to. It has the date pencilled on the neck butt as is common with the JV models. The body has been touched up around the neck pocket where the finish has chipped when the neck has been removed. There are also tiny touched up chips around the J bass pickup and the bridge. It has been professionally modded back in the 80’s originally with a Badass bridge since replaced with a Hi-Mass. The bridge has been countersunk as the original Badass bridges were intended to be fitted. It certainly adds to the sustain. The other mod is the EMG pickups and battery compartment at the rear of the bass. The bass sounds fantastic as a result. When these basses were first sold they were often modded as they weren’t predicted to become sought after in their own right. The final mod is the side mounted jack. You can see where an extra small hole has been drilled on the original scratchplate possibly to accommodate a switch or LED, the rest of the bass is original. The bass weighs 4.2kgs and is very well balanced. Its been well gigged and toured, it has some minor dings although the only significant dings on the neck are on the top side edge of the fretboard as pictured. As it’s been modded it’s not a collectors item however it’s still a beautiful, top quality bass. No trades and pickup preferred although I can post in the UK only at buyer’s cost. Comes with an old case (if posted) or Fender gigbag if picked up.

Great looking and playing Squier Mustang Bass from around 2014. Made in Indonesia and in very good condition. The bass has a short scale, through body stringing and Duncan Design pickups. Unlike the more recent Squier Mustangs it has a maple satin finished board. Looks great with the black finish and scratchplate. Currently strung with Rotosound roundwounds. Nice and light at 3.5kgs with a stupidly comfy neck. It has some minor marks and dings to the body and tiny dings around the centre of the skunk stripe and at the top edge of the board but nothing that interferes with playing it. The only other issue is that the three ply scratchplate has slightly warped (common with Mustangs). I bought it to see if I get on with the Mustang shorter scale and I do so I’ve decided to invest in a more expensive version. I can post in the UK only for £20. No trades sorry. Selling for what it owes me.

Steve bought my Hofner bass, excellent communication and a friendly chap to deal with. Hope you get time to play all those McCartney riffs on it that you were talking about! Cheers.

Unused as I sold the (heavy) bass it was intended for - Well padded instrument strap for bass guitars The Ibanez BWS900 Bass Workshop Strap is specially designed for heavy electric basses and offers an ideal weight distribution; longer gigs and sessions can be played comfortably. For this purpose, 38 mm thick padding is used, which due to its unique design and width of 90 mm provides comfortable shoulder support and at the same time effectively protects against accidental slipping of the strap on stage. The Ibanez BWS900 Bass Workshop Strap at a glance: Instrument strap for bass guitar Tear-resistant polyester fabric 38 mm thick padding Comfortable width of 90 mm Length continuously adjustable from 102 to 125 cm

Dupytrens here too. I’ve had a couple of operations so far and both have failed. My fretting hand has a very poor span now and the scarring and nerve damage means I have little sensation in my hand at the side and top of my little finger. Also my little finger is at right angles and can’t straighten so I’m always getting it hooked in my pockets. It’s annoying and does prevent me playing double bass and some wider necked basses. I find it difficult to play as nimbly as I used to and also have difficulty on keyboards. Still looking at solutions both instrument and treatment wise. If I had a pound for every person who has said ‘just turn it upside down and play it the other way round’ I’d be buying a 1967 Fender Mustang! 🤣

Fender Roger Waters Signature Precision Bass 2011 The instrument is in very good condition, the neck is excellent, the body has some cosmetic dings but nothing structural. It plays really well and sounds very powerful thanks to the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pickup. It’s all original apart from having strap locks fitted (and I’ll include the strap fittings). At one point it had a bridge cover fitted but this was before I had it. The bass doesn’t have a gig bag or case. The neck doesn’t have a skunk stripe at the back and has a fairly chunky profile. The original nut is brass and the nut width is very comfortable. I’ve heard the neck profile on this model is similar to the slab body P basses favoured by John Entwistle. The bass as stock came with an unusual mix of black chrome parts, single ply scratchplate, chrome tuners and string tree. Not that many were made, this one dates from 2011 and was made in Mexico. Weight is a very comfy 3.9kgs. Action is nice and low and it balances very well. I’m selling as the neck is not right for my fretting hand since I had my recent hand operation. I have reduced span so slimmer necks work better nowadays. I’ve tried to show the condition of the finish as best I can. It is difficult to photograph the gloss black under artificial light however the two dings are pictured. Apologies for the finger marks, I’ll give it a good polish and weather permitting get some daylight photos tomorrow. No trades, UK only. Pickup preferred but I’m willing to post at buyer’s expense.

This is a parts bass I put together using a Squier Jazz bass body, pickups and hardware and a brand new MIM Fender Players Bass maple neck. The object was to make a light weight Jazz bass for some longer shows I was to play. My own JV Jazz is quite heavy - fine for recording but not so much for long gigs. I got the body from here and the neck and Kluson tuners from Thomann. The neck is lovely with a satin feel at the back. It weighs around 3.6kgs which is under 8lbs so it’s perfect for those who prefer a lighter instrument. Balance is good. Sounds like a decent Jazz and is a good modding platform for trying alternative pickups and circuitry. The bass has some cosmetic dings to the body but plays really well. The neck is immaculate. Price reflects the cost of the parts. Pickup preferred but I can post in the UK at the buyer’s cost. I had it on eBay a week ago and the buyer who hadn’t read the description fully cancelled the sale just after ticking the buy it now option. So I’ll try it here before relisting. Thanks for looking. No trades. If it doesn’t sell at this price I’ll part it out. Parted out so withdrawn

Fender Roadworn Precision Bass 2008 £725 on hold - *SOLD*
ash replied to ash's topic in Basses For Sale
Yes I thought it would sell quickly as it’s such a lovely bass however looking at other items on here things that usually fly aren’t shifting. Perhaps caution prevails at the moment because of all the interest rate shenanigans? Normally I wouldn’t be so keen to sell quickly however another house purchase means time to trim the collection again. -

2008 MIM Fender Roadworn 50’s Precision. These are very well made instruments and highly regarded, this is a good example. It is currently wearing flat wound strings and comes with a Fender gig bag. It plays well and sounds exactly like a P bass ought to. Other than the factory worn finish there are no extra dings that I can see. It is well balanced with a medium action, everything works and the frets are in very good order. There is a reissue chrome bridge cover included. The bass is lovely and light at 8.5lbs/3.9kgs. Not a back breaker by any means. I prefer the neck on my JV P bass and need to raise funds for a new project as my 70’s Precision isn’t shifting I’m hoping this one will. UK only no trades, pickup preferred but I can post if necessary within the UK at buyer’s cost.

Pickup is in excellent condition - great upgrade for Squier basses etc. I can post for £3 UK only. From SD The vintage single-coil bass tone of this high output P bass pickup gets a push with more string sensitivity than the Hot model, and a more articulate treble response. The high output coil and quarter-inch diameter pole pieces give you aggressive attack with strong bottom end and lots of mids. It supercharges the traditional single coil with more tonal flexibility. This pickup is a drop-in replacement for any American Standard Single Coil Precision bass. Hand built in Santa Barbara, CA, the Quarter Pound for Single Coil P-Bass uses diameter alnico 5 rod magnets, Forbon flatwork, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal free performance.
