1. Oh well done, sir! Played one of those in the Bass Merchant last weekend. Very nice. Glad I didn't spot that myself
 2.
If you're in Bristol, I'd suggest checking out Electric Ladyland in Old Market. That is, if you can physically get in the shop - literally packed with old Japcrap, vintage amps & God knows what
Give Steve a call before venturing over to make sure he'll open the door for you 0117 983 2500 Had a set of Antigua fender basses and guitars last time I pressed my GAS filled nose against the glass (it was shut ) Some gems in there but he does know what he has and his prices reflect ..
 3. Not entirely unexpected, Mark Snap up this bargain someone. Love those little Fender cables
 4.
I havent been to this shop since it was Sound Control, just wondering if there is any point checking it out. I'm visiting family over Christmas period just outside Bristol so was wondering if the trip to the city centre is worth it. Infact, does anyone know of any other decent music shops that might carry a healthy supply of gear, bass mainly but I always enjoy a look around guitar's and drum kits. Thanks in advance
Gosh yes. Book your bass in for a service with Eltham Jones (Edge Guitar Services) who rents space out the back. Really good luthier http://www.edgeguitarservices.co.uk/index.htm
 5.
LOL, I have to admit that when I announced the imminent purchase to Mrs Beedster I didn't hesitate in showing her that listing
Well if it helps, as I mentioned in another thread about vintage bass prices, had I spent the money on a pre-CBS bass 10 years ago, it would now be worth about 4 times as much as I paid for it and 8 times much as the ISAs I did buy are worth ... Of course I can cash in my ISAs ....... In fact may just do that and buy a vintage bass
 6. HeyChris, Just to make you feel better '64 Jazz: $65,000 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=679963 Unless, of course, you want one of those as well now .......
 7. Bonged a Bongo at the Bass Merchant last weekend. Cured my Bongo GAS/Curiosity. They just don't fit me, physically.. Rather glad 'cos I don't really need any more sources of GAS ...
 8. Price should make Beedster feel better
 9. A bass player wearing funny outfits is certainly not that odd .. It's the Japanese fashion for "Cosplay" or costume play. He's dressed as Miku Hatsune who is a character that was created by Yamaha to sell Vocaloid software. "The Character Vocal Series is a computer music program that synthesizes singing in Japanese" This is her: I think he's done a pretty good job. Good playing too, in the "Japanese girl plays guitar or bass really well in her bedroom on Youtube" styleee
 10.
well I for one had never seen that before - its jaw dropping and disturbing at the same time. Wow. Thanks for putting that clip on. I really enjoyed it, I think
+1 We've obviously been off in the dark depths of basschat for a few months Nice, I like it.
 11. The coloured DRs were on basses on the wall but I'm pretty sure there were DR packs on the string display too
 12.
One from a halloween gig in the local.
Nurse!!!!!!!!!!
 13. C'mon Chris .... No pics = no bass Stop playing and snap some pictures ... I am so lucky I don't like the Precisions they made in my birth month
 14.
When he goes to one of the 'tech' schools....which he inevitably will, all the kids with their Jazz's and Precisions are going to laugh at him . I jest of course, he's very lucky, will hopefully be a great player.....and is probably reading this! Si
Quite possibly! He's probably got a P bass for everyday use
 15.
That GMR is £2,295 I don't care how good he is......that's some wealthy-parent spending right there lol Si
Oh that's rediculous. What can he do with that that he can't do with a US Jazz? Kid these days ....
 16.
True, but bear in mind that most people's screens only run at 1280x1024 so there's really no benefit to uploading a picture at a resolution higher than this. By which I mean, it's annoying, please don't do it. S.P.
er well yeah but bigger than your screen pictures are great for zooming really getting in close. Eg if someone had a very nice 64 P bass to show off, for example ......
 17.
eeeeeeeeek! Keep you fingers crossed for me people, left him a message to get back to me but from emails he sounds good.. just hoping he has space and can fit in around my children! Bout time I started learning propely innit
Good move .. Took my first tutor about 10 seconds to convince me I had to unlearn 20 years worth of bad habits but I made loads of progress once I had Why does that second bit make me think of Alan Carr in a pram
 18.
Always thought the song a little too chirpy so kinda switched off to it. I heard it right the way through on the radio today. Effing great bass line!!! I might learn it... to get myself more into the xmas mood. I did the Slade one last year.
Ha ha Yup and the bassline is transcribed in Bass Player (the US mag) this month. Be quick though 'cos it's been on the shelves a while ow.
 19. Awwwwwwwwww! Fabulous. That's a great story Chris. You'll not regret it. So ... More pictures pease. This reminds me of the Patek Phillipe watch advert strapline: "You never actually own a [s]Patek Phillipe[/s] June '64 Precision, you merely look after it for the next generation ..."
 20. Use webshots and use the image include button on here to link to teh largest size webshots has in it's gallery You get a reasonable sized image in the thread and a larger option if you click on it.
 21.
Therefore it ain't.
+1 walk away
 22. I didn't get any myself as there were not my guages and I like Elixirs too much to change
 23. Sounds like fun. It was great to try some of the more esoteric things like the Overwaters, the DR coloured strings, Lace Helix, Bongo etc and to reassure myself that I'm pretty much sorted with the basses and amps I already have Guitar playing dad eh? That's cool
 24.
You did a great job Si
ha ha yeah Doh!
 25. It's somewhat gratifying that so many people like the look feel and playability too as I spent ages on those aspects during the planning. The idea was to have a bass very much like the P5 in terms of feel, neck profile and balance but with the contrast in the modern (and pretty) body and contemporary sound fom actives and maple.
