2.
Spoke to Jon today, mine will be ready for collection this weekend. 12 weeks from when I ordered it and right on time. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
12 weeks? What kind of a wait is that?? I've waited almost as long to get served in Sound Control!
 3.
Nice one OG. Keep us posted with your purchase. And your mods!!!!! We will have to start a UK SX Owners Club!! Could hold AGMs in a phone box probably......
ha ha yeah I'm just planning to check it all over for lumpy frets, swap the strings and bridge (for a Gotoh 201, probably) Then, assuming I can master soldering swap the pots and wires for an S1 style Series/Parallel setup on a push pull. I'll see how that is. If it's as good as my Shukers I'll just sell them and buy two or three hundred of these instead
 4. Just ordered this Fingers crossed for a happier courier experience ..
 5.
I bought one. You are welcome to buy it off me. Works as a strapand may distribute the weight a bit better across your body, but didn't work for what I thought it might cure - a neck dive bass (telecaster shaped body). PM me if you want it, it's the D'addario one.
Have you tried the t-bird neck dive fix on your bass? Here
 6. That looks absolutely fabulous! Congratulations on your new baby
 7.
Well, for some reason Jon did me a very good deal on it. To be fair, a lot of people who have customs made tend to be a bit shy about quoting the price paid. If I posted the price on here it may p*ss people off who may-may not have payed more for theirs, and possibly put Mr Shuker on a sticky wicket. I will PM you with the guide price though.
+1 on that Prices are between a bassplayer and his Maker ...
 8. Oh yummie! Nice one Pete ... hey is that a small map of Lithuania near the treble pickup rout?
 9.
I use an Antex Gascat butane gas iron for everything, it's bloody marvellous. Use it anywhere, no mucking about with mains and such... just the job for that emergency cable repair at the soundcheck. It's brilliant for heat-shrink sleeving too. I've got several different tips for it ranging in style and size, so I can use the one iron for lots of different jobs. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I like to use a tiny bit of flux here and there... I know modern multicore solders have flux in them, but for some things a little bit extra really helps the solder flow and makes for a clean joint.
hey Rich Pop over and show me how and I'll let you play through the Shroeder
 10. Great tips thanks

 21.
I've been to Jon's today to collect mine. Its been on order since Feb this year, I told him to take his time with it, so I can't grumble about the wait. I saw a lot of comments about Jon's service before I went up today. He makes no secret about the fact that he has problems with his e mails. I agree that its a lot easier to get him on the phone, which is what I ended up doing. He admits that his main problem is getting suppliers to get things to him on time, even though they are ordered well before he wants them. Most of Jon's stuff is custom made now, so its impossible for him to keep stocks of pups, mine were pretty unusual and had to be a special order. There are a lot of people on here having Shukers made, if we are all on his case wanting photos every 5 minutes, it will eat into his build time. Now I have my bass I can say its stunning, Jon is without doubt a Master Craftsman, I am lucky enough to have a Sei Flambouyant 6 as well as the Shuke, the build quality on the Shuke is every bit as good as the Sei, and I recon the Shuke was well over a grand cheaper as well. Go figure. Tinman, yer bass looks great mate. I got a couple of pics off for you. PM me if you want me to mail them to you.
+1 on all of that. Post those pics Pete!
 22. Hi has anyone installed DIY S1 wiring on a (non fender) Jazz? Is it possible with a push pull rather than a Fender S1 switch and pot? What woud I need? Thanks
 23.
Maybe we all worry about band names too much? After all, the biggest band ever "The Beatles", had one of the worst names ever IMHO. Mind you, having said that, I was in a band once and we were really struggling to find a name and it was stopping us moving forward.. So, to try and take the emotion out of the situation, someone we knew suggested we use a scientific approach to finding a name in order to stop us continually arguing and disagreeing over the issue. IIRC, it was something like this: 1) We each came up with a list of 10 names we liked. With 5 band members, we had 50 names in the pot. 2) Over a pint or three and by voting for the ones we liked, we whittled the list of 50 names down to just 5 names. 3) We went away and each asked 10 friends to vote for their favourite names from the list of 5, scoring their favourite name with a '5' and their least favourite name with a '1'. 4) We then added up the scores and the name with the highest score was the name the band chose. The name we came up with was 'Kickback' if I remember and though it wasn't brilliant, we all liked it enough and for the time i.e. late 1980s, it was pretty good. The best thing about it though was the fact that we didn't actually choose the name, our mates did it for us. And as it them who came to all our gigs, it was a very democratic process.. Band was pretty rubbish though!!
Excellent process .. It was so easy when it didn't matter if you had the same name as a band in San Francisco, or Scunthorpe .. These days though you'd have to pre-empt the process with "each band manber comes up with 10 names that are not already in use by a band or a myspace or so common that no one would ever find us using google, that says what we do and that fits easily on a poster" .. Might be tougher
 24.
They are the same ones that loads of shops got offered at the same time around the UK, tend to come with a d'addario I think it was tag on them for the strings etc, they did P/J basses and Strats/Teles.
OK Thanks. the good SX's come with D'adds too so maybe they come from the same place (as Jim Deacons are rumoured to) or maybe D'addario China has a very successful sales team. I'd stick with a non-starter pack SX though as they are easily identifiable and seem to have a consistently good reputation.
