Wireless system cuts out once every gig.
OldGit replied to dave_bass5's topic in Accessories and Misc
IMO I wouldn't use Wireless RF gear at all, unless it was the only option!
Why not? With a good system the difference in the sound is negligible, no cables to trip over and freedom to move on stage to do a better show .. In my case it's essential as part of my role in the band is to get out on the dance floor to balance the band during the sound check. I also do loads in amongst the crowd at our gigs. Using a wireless enables me to do that, -
Wow.. how extortionate. Rabbit pens are usually about £10-20, the hutches being £40-£100. (Yes I do have a rabbit...) I could knock this up myself for about £20.
There you go ... knock up a couple and next time he advertises rush yours up with virtually the same wording and keywords for £150 .... -

Rats! We should have had a person count and a matrix to tick for number of basses so we could do real stats like how many replied, how many have 1,2,3,4 ... 33, etc ... -
Ok, this is an old thread so ill make one last post. 4 gigs in a row now with no cut out. Ever since i took the transmitter off the strap its been ok. Im going to try and put ti back but up the right way for the next few gigs and see what happens. Could just be coincidence but its looking hopeful.
Weird! Try one of these? First gig with the bass last Saturday .. A surprise scots wedding .. in that they didn't mention that the groom was Sottish .. This makes a difference in our Ceilidh Barn Dance band Still all went well. So how was the bass? Well objective number 3 was achieved when a lapsed bass player in the audience came up in the break to tell me how gorgeous the bass is, I'd noticed Playing-wise it's great. Everything's in the right place and the hang and balance are spot on for me. It's not as "normal" for me as its brother as I've been playing precisions (mostly) for 30+ years but it's certainly not as alien as most 5 string moderns I've tried. Now it's had a few weeks settling and a good thrash at a gig I'll get it fine tuned by Eltham Jones, my favourite bass fettling wizard. I just wish he'd get a workshop in Cardiff (where we both live) rather than out the back of Soundcontrol in Bristol... Sound wise, well, sorry I don't really know. Sure it was very acceptable but I didn't have the time to sus and sort it on Saturday (first time through my gig rig) Generally, being an old dog git, it takes me ages to get used to new things and I've made way too many changes at once this time - bass, compressor, and a re-programmed effects box. So I've decided I need to book some time alone in the rehearsal studio and get everything sorted as wedding gig sound checks are not really the time It will be fun anyway.
my local guitar shop is this little place about 15ft squared, only 3 or 4 basses and a couple of amps, only 1 person works there, the owner Sarah. and she's been the 5 days a week for the last dacade. always friendly, always up for a chit-chat and always more than happy to let schoolkids try and shred, which although something that annoys me a bit now, was a real good thing when i was a kid. because of this i make sure that if there's anything i can get through that shop, i do so, even if it is a few quid more. and i think just about every other musicial in a 20 mile radius does the same. also, i was up in Cardiff a few weeks ago with a couple of hours to kill. so me and a mate were wondering round the music shops, and although we weren't asking to play things or talking to the staff, there was a bit of a chill in the air for them. that is until we hit upon a little one tucked away in a corner.
Which one was that ? Cardiff Guitars in the bay is good. Gamlins and Cranes are Ok though someone did put on a loud music video whilst I was trying something one time. Even if I do play rubbish diddly tunes and Lloyd Webber waltzes, it's still impolite ... Plenty of basses in both.
Today I found out about a guitar called the Wangcaster (NSFW = guess why!). The luthier, Doug Rowell, specialises in elaborate hand carving of bodies, and also made a few weird basses, such as the Yellow Submarine bass:
Not one for you Christan Rock Band players, I'd say ..... I had a ton of stick from my band when I had a Warwick Fortress with it's phallic upper horn . Playing this would probably shut them up

OldGit replied to warwickhunt's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Well IMHO it does stink. You can't tell me that is coincidence. The first bid placed (that everyone then has to beat to get the bass) happens to be the exact price that the bass sold for previously! There is a genuine reason to have private bidding though. When I sold regularly on eBay (not usually bass related items they were multitools and Leathermans) I got emails from potential buyers (who had bids on my items) that they had been contacted by other ebayers offering identical items for either less money or they guaranteed to sell for less than xy or z amount. In the end I bowed to the pressure and I started to make my listings private, funnily enough one of the guiltiest sellers of this sniping, started making all of his listings BIN. I'm not saying it is perfect because it isn't by any means.
Did you use to sell the rescued stuff from airports? There was someone who was clearly a bass player as all their "ideal for " examples were musicians, but having a little dig at all but bass players -
