I have also discovered a way to get a HUGE range of tones out of the bass. My amplifier has all these knobs on it and moving them either clockwise or anti clockwise changes the sound. It's just like having a 5 band EQ. There also seems to be some kind of time travel function invloved. If I turn the knobs on the right anti clockwise I can go back as far as the 50s. If I turn those knobs clockwise, but turn the middle knobs anticlockwise I can end up anywhere between the 70s and 90s. I have tried turning the left hand knobs anticlockwise but that was just pathetic. p.
Not found any uppy/downy bits yet then?

And this year's Fastest GAS Attack Award goes to ..... Paul H!!!!! Welcome to the SX Maniacs' club ... I think I'll be getting a bone nut for mine when it goes for a setup. Despite all the mods on my P the SX stuff does seem to be fine as it comes so I'd live with it for a while before investing in anything apart from strap locks, sheilding paint and a bit of 800 grit paper to take the shine off the back of the neck ...
Hi mate, I'm in Grantham, Lincolnshire! Parcelforce is cool...had a few basses sent/recieved through them so all is cool!!! How do you find it sounds compared to a passive Precision then? Also, what are the controls on the bass please mate? Thanks Jamie
Hi Jamie Parcelforce don't insure musical instruments for more than £150 so I prefer not to use them but it would be up to you. I'll pack it to survive. It doesn't sound/look/feel/play anything like a passive P. The only thing "precision" about it is the name. Closest modern Fender is the Zone. It's very much an "active" sounding bass. Controls are volume, Pickup pan, bass and treble.
If I get a buyer for my Lakland I'll have this. Good price too.
Mike, I could keep it off the bay for a while if you are likely to have it... I'm in not hurry as long as something is happening towards selling it the boss will be happy The price is about right as it's got a fair amount of body mojo .. The neck is fine and there's nothing structural but some visible meteor impact craters on the front. I'll shoot them later and post the pics for all to see.
Hi mate, May be very interested in this...may i ask how long you've had it please and whether postage is an option? Thanks kind sir...looking forward to pics Jam
Hi Jam I've had it since November or so last year. I had a black one the same for about 17 years before. I like them but i only need one 4 stringer and the draw of the passive P is too strong I will post it but I'll not use Parcelforce so it will be up to you to choose a courier company from the list on Paul. The's courier review list here Where are you? OG

::|| SOLD ||:: Nice and somewhat bemused non-BC bassplayer came and picked this up from the Bass Bash yesterday Not sure if he will join or not after that baptism of fire, er, thunder ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Warwick CCL 1x15 250 watts combo. £200 I got this whilst I was waiting for the Peavey 300 to show up so it's time for this to go to a new home. It's just been serviced and sounds great. Pics of the actual box later but it looks like this one Good tone controls and pretty loud. Dolly trolly handle and wheels. I'll post it at your expense. Oh well ... the Fender P Lyte has to go for marital stability reasons MIJ in the 80's Pictures soon but it's the normal active UK deluxe version with gold hardware, pearl while finish including the headstock. Some dings and things and the gold's pretty warn from lots of playing but a fantastic fast neck and the normal good sound. See Harmony Central Reviews Includes Grolsch straplocks new Roberts Yellows strings and tatty but functional hard case . They sell for about £220-£320 on eBay depending on condition and this one certainly has seen some action therefore I think £250 is reasonable. I'm not looking for trades, thanks, and it will be on eBay as from Thursday so yell if you are interested. I'm in Cardiff.
I thought the 201 and 203 were both direct replacements for stock fender bridges?
Yes in that they fit with no machining but the 201 has a cast top and the 203 looks just like the Fender (but maybe a tad thicker tin... ) I prefer the look of the 201 myself ... 201 203
Well, Thomann have their own brand mics which have 16 channels and I think you can use up to 5 at a time. They're a good price too (about £60 IIRC) and aside from the lack of squelch on their IEMs, I'm well impressed with the sound quality, much better than the db Technologies units I was originally using, so I'm sure the mics will be of a pretty decent standard. You get 30 day, no quibble return on them as well.
Cheers Pete
Vey nice indeed. I had nearly decided on a black plate for mine, which is currently sitting in the SX depot. Instead I reckon I will go for the tort. That way when I order a black P as well, I can get a black plate for that one and mix and match them. I haven't even got it yet and I'm planning my next one! p.
Ah yes.. a sure sign of SX addiction ..... The scratch plate on Neil's Jazz was a fantastic tortoise shell pattern. Where do that come from Neil?
Yeah Jims doing it,like I would lower myself to anyone else, no-one is as good as him?
A question mark? So ... some worries that he may not be the best after all?
Si, Nice mate, very nice. I think Kurt at Rondo must be in to us for some commission by now, either that or set up a SX-UK emporium.
Yeah It's plays well .. A few tweaks to do for my personal preferences and it will be very nice I think .. I emailed the UK SX dealer but he isn't interested in bringing in the good ones. he does teh bass packs with the 21 fret jazzes ... The Irish shop has some of the good ones but the prices (in delivery and tax) are the same as Rondo and with less ease of ordering or range...

Stop Press: Sept 30th 09 this is now for sale (Edit on the edit... Wayne Punk Dud isnow the proud owner - ) http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=294769 Got this in from a nice man in Colorado. It's a used but virtually unmarked SX P with a new SX Jazz neck inna 75 Jazz Stylee. It's been treated to Fender tuners, bridge, strings and pick up cover (off with that already.. ) and a big fat over-wound pickup by GFS and a GFS scratch plate. You know I said tortoiseshell was The One True Path for sunburst P's well I think this may be the exception. I think the black plate sets off the neck markers just right. Neck's a bit thin for a P but I've been playing jazzes recently so I can get used to that. It will be getting the 800 grit rubdown treatment very soon to take the gloss off. I've not had the plate off to see if its sheilded so I'll do that if needed and swap teh tone capacitor for an orange drop cap as I happen to have one handy. It sounds great through my bargain basement Peavey Combo 300. So that's the "Jam Session Rig" sorted. Ebay pics now, more later:
Yes, caution advised. The J i bought was advertised as Vintage White. I am going to replece the bridge and tuners this week when the stuff arrives. Tuners are functional but a bit cheap feeling, they turn a bit clunkily. Put the Wizard Thumper pup in....nice!!!
Yeah I'd echo that having bought it for a mate. Avoid that colour It's a bedroom bass colour. Fortunatley my mate is a bedroom bass player. Mine's arrived. Customs were holding it ransome. £45 to spring it. Worth it though ..
Hi Si, Yeah, that's gonna be a bit of a problem for ya, though the freePORT mics can be switched between 4 frequencies though I just don't get way all these companies can't just bung a load of frequencies on these things, it surely can't be that much more expensive. Afraid all my mics are sold now too. Pete
Sadly we'd like 4 mics plus the bug so that makes 5 frequencies and Sennheiser only do their cheap stuff with 4 ... .. Ho hum .. We are going to get 3 of the Sennhesiers and look out for another mic from a different manufacturer.. ta

This ad's been up for over a week too!
ummmm turns out sennheiser don't have the sense to make their mics and bugs with different frequencies for people who might just want to have both der ... So turns out we haven't actually bought them yet Do you have any left, Pete? Just wondered ..
