1. Did a dep gig with the band on before The Wurzles a while back. They all turned up in their Armani suits and then put on the stage kit, just like Status Quo are rumoured to do .. Mr E. Clapton allegedly does it the other way round, jeans to the dressing room then the Armani suit. Blues players eh? I have to dress up or I can't get the right head on for the performance. Me and the other front person always start the gig (at least) wearing dress suit jackets, a black or white shirt and black trousers. Depending on the audience type I may wear my Black Pork Pie bass player's hat. I have a couple of pairs of rock and roll daps (All Star Baseball Boots) but I always thing McCartney looks a prat in his (at his age) so tend to wear all black trainers instead.. The other guys wear black trousers white shirts and musically related waistcoats though the drummer has a scary habit of wearing shorts on stage once spring is in the air.
 2.
Well if that MM is as good as my Jazz you'll have a bargain, even at £140 ..
How did it turn out?
 3. This is not mine, just a "heads up". Had it been right handed I've have snapped it up in an instant SX 57 Left Handed style P bass Sinister player? Feeling left out of the SX owners' club? Now's your chance! Check out the SX porn threads for how well we like these basses. For less than a used Squier this is a bargain...

 6.
The neck is closer to a Jazz than a P.
That's interesting. I wonder if the necks all have the same profile.
Granted my experience of high end basses is extremely limited but not sure how much better it can get.
Next time you are in Cardiff come and have a go on my brace of Shukers
 7. I took the P to my regular Jam session tonight .. Boy oh boy Its got such a fat sound .. Very much an overwound pickup. I may have to screw it back down a bit I'll also have to mess with the amp eq a bit to add some cut. Bit hard to know what to do with 30 seconds of set up time in a jam session situation, and with an old TE head hummmm loads of knobs and sliders ..... Still it sits nice and hangs fine. The tuners are a tad heavier than the SX ones but it seems OK .. It's light anyway. So, plays well and certainly looks good ..
 8.
You mean they're not????????????????
Course they are It says so dunnit? Actually I worry a bit that they are - hand made by people living on very little indeed .. I mean if Rondo can sell them for 50 quid they must cost about 20 quid to make ... Scary ... Oh and re strings, the Roberts Yellows look rather like the standard SX ones .. 8 quid a set so they probably get hand wound by kids in knock off Nike tee shirts somewhere near the three gorges dam project as well ... ) I bet they arnt Hand Made By Roberts like those Italian cars ... me > coat > get
 9.
Paul I have just got some Oakey Extreme contour sanding pads (Medium) from B&Q and gently sanded the back of the neck down. Its taken away that glossy varnish feel and is now slightly satin in texture. Much nicer to play now and hopefully will prevent sticking when I gig her on Saturday night!!!! Give it a go.
+1 on that 800 grit paper does it a treat and cheaper than an Oakey Oh it's given me an Oakey! See, told you tortie was the one true path for sunburst with rosewood (he adds quickly as he ain't changing his black one) Strap peg on the back of the head stock is a cheeky one I didn't even do that on my "make me one like James Jamerson" Shuker ... You'll be telling people it's a hand made custom next, just like it says on the headstock ...

 11.
They dont put them on the website. Ive just bought a P version for my SX. You buggers have persuaded me that a tort will look better than a white one. The neck pocket needs quite a bit of "deepening" as the pups on the SX seem to be a tad nearer the neck than a Fender. Hey ho!
Gosh I dunno. We help you see the truth and you moan about it ..... "Dremmel on, reggae woman" As Stevie Wonder was apt to say .. Hum Must get the camera out for my P ....
 12.
Sorry, I was being vague. I just had a look at the receipts and it was £95 before taxes.
Ah yes .. Add about £40 for inport duty, VAT and courier admin charge. Cooooool that's 4 or of us now then ....
 13.
My Squier P Bass special is about 9 years old and has a PJ configuration, today I think they cost around £170- which is about twice the the price of the SX after factoring in shipping and taxes.
Thanks. Very illumnating though I'm confused about the SX costing £85 including shipping and taxes .. Was it second hand?
 14.
I just recieved my SX P Bass in metalic silver. Although FedEx are a bit useless, the process of ordering from Rondomusic is relatively straight forward and cheap. Plus the SX plays a lot better than my Squier.
Welcome to the SX maniacs club! That's different Interesting to hear a direct comparison to a Squier. How much would your squier cost, for comparison? OG
 15.
All over. It must be their idea of a vintage look. It doesn't really work. I don't really care, it plays beautifully and sounds pretty good to me. But I am hoping the tort guard might tone it down a little bit.
Hummmm perhaps it will mellow with age
 16.
It was a generic J plate from our local Gig Gear shop. www.giggear.co.uk
OK ta Do you have a link to the pate in qustion? I can't find that particular nice one on there. OG

 18.
I get annoyed and stressed out if I can't read my sheet music because either it's too dark on stage or the coloured lights reflect off the plastic wallets... Someone told me that ultraviolet was the way to overcome these problems but can't find anything other than this lot [post="0"]here[/post] Can anyone recommend a product or some way of overcoming the problem? Thanks Sean
+1 for UV .. What's good is that it doesn't interfere with stage lights or draw attention to the fact that you have the music tehre. Disco supplies and Maplins sell striplights and bulbs, hang one up above the stage and all your white paper (and shirts, dentures and contact lens in some cases) will glow white. Maplins UV bulbs
 19.
Actually I sorted the problem. I was rehersing last night and an hour in, it did the same thing again. I tried the valve/solid state blend - no difference. So I DI'd it straight into the PA. Same thing I changed the batteries in the Bass (again) and all was well. It turns out that our g*****ist (who supplied me with new batteries last week) got a job lot of PP3s and they're rubbish. Half of them are duff and those that work, seem to fade after a couple of hours use. Then if you leave them for a day they're ok again (well, for a few hours). Duracell from now on
You havn't been playing faster than him or standing at the front of the stage recently have you?
 20. I read on Wikipeeeedier that even it's mum doesn't love it.

It's got to go

 23.
It's the one that gets the most use. It's my own fault. I had a serious GAS attack and got rid of my Markbass/Aguilar rig. Now I get angry when I have to use the knobs at all. Pre-Ashdown all my basses sounded great with everything set flat. Now I have to twiddle for ages to get something half decent. It does seem to suit this SX though. It's sounding better through the A**down than my Aerodyne! p.
Ha ha yeah I found that the less exotic the bass the better it sounds through Ash/TE type stuff .. Maybe you need a Warwick combo
 24.
Just knobs and buttons. The buttons are all rubbish. (Ashdown)
Off button's pretty good IIRC
