Maybe one of these? 10% shorter than a P-bass, apparently.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-P-Bass-Junior...oQQcmdZViewItem
Jim Deacon do a 3/4 sized bass that just looks like 60's P bass .. at about 100 quid .... A friend of mine has a few full sized basses but chooses to use a Samick Corsair MCR1 small bass for gigs. I tried it and the ikkle Jim Deacon and it's Ok but any kind of enthusiastic playing on the E string sounds a bit cr@p...

Well I think it's a "hey aren't we clever" technological answer to a problem that doesn't really exist.. but then, I play bass....

Not a sliding pickup but the same effect I think - 12 individual switchable coils under a ramp .... (and a handy door knocker ) http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...ost&p=98351

This was on Front Row on Radio 4 yesterday. It did give me a chuckle.. Gibson have got some ol guitarist from the Uk on board as a consultant and Front Row had a guy from the Manics check it over .. They both said "great for beginners" basically because it opens their minds to non standard tunings .. This is a £1500 Les Paul. Presumably any beginner guitarists who can afford that will have staff to tune their guitar for them. Gibson's website on the subject says "For as long as the guitar has existed, guitar lovers have had two choices—live with a temperamental and out-of-tune instrument or make frequent trips to the shop for setups. Not anymore. " Gibsons must be pretty sh1te then .....
Ive got two leads from OBBM and both are working fine. As this is my second unit ill maybe replace it with a different make next year. I have never had any trouble with my AKG GB system and that cost half what the WMS400 cost. ill use the transmitter the right way up for a while and see what happens. Oldgit, its a small flexible ariel.
BEG and Peter Gunn? Sounds like your guitarists have been fiddling with the unit's taste filter I think the flexible ariels can get little breaks in them but it doesn't explain why they should always cut out during the same song ... So that's two players and three units that cut out ... Guys, take them back, get a refund and get a different make -
Ive tried it sitting on most things on stage with the same result. strange thing is it didnt cut out this weekend. I only did the one gig but the difference was i had the transmitter the right way up on my strap. Normally i have it upside down so my arm doesn't hit the Ariel. Im wondering now if there is something loose on the transmitter. Its not the cable as it locks in and ive tried three different cables but maybe it is down to movement as there are no errors at the receiver end. Funny enough though we didnt play BEG that night either. Ill keep trying. I cant afford the Sen but would like one for Xmas please ;-)
Does it have a stiff or floppy ariel? years ago I had problems with my old tantrec system ariel (the floppy one) and they sent me a stiff little rubbery replacement. Try putting your sender in your pocket rather than on your strap? -
Sadly it sold whilst I was thinking about it

It's not cutting out during Brown Eyed Girl is it? Could just be boredom setting in Alternatively, if it's sat on something hot it could be overheating. Alternatively Two, you could buy this at this super discount: Sennheiser EW172 G2 BNIB for £250 -
In the Zoom's manual they are called "patch". It sounds a good plan Yes but you cannot add directly a single effect on-the-fly. You can write a patch with a single effect and then to bypass the unit you can: - write a patch with no effects and then switch between the two - press the two foot switches at the same time (page 10) - use an external switch (page 22, section 3 and page 34) - or use an external bypass box or a line selector (e.g. Boss LS-2) If create the patch with just one effect is what you want to achieve, it is described at page 14, section 2 of the user manual: "To switch an effect module on and off". Good luck with the Zoom b2.1u - it is a great unit.
Hey thanks. That's very useful.. I'll get on the case Tom: Thanks mate, another good tip. I wish they'd print a large print version of Bass Guitar Magazine too I have to keep my reading glasses by the toilet

Channels / presets /patches ? .. er Not sure what the correct term for them is but so that A7 has one effect and A8 has a diffferent one. Guess I should RTFM, again, then So it should allow me to turn everything off and then just add in the single effect? I'll try again ...

there's a Session Rockette Bass combo for sale in my local crack converters .. It appears to say B-15 on it too and it has a foot switch ... Looks like a single 12 inch speaker and it looks pretty old .. Any ideas? Looks like a potentially nice practice amp ..
-
Hi I have the Zoom B2.1u and I'd like to set up some simple effects on it but I can't see how I do it. I'd like to have a channel that just has a wahwah. Just that, no amp modeling, no compressor, no other effects... as if I'd just added a wahwah footpedal in the chain. Likewise the flanger and octaver. I'd also like to have the SVT model with each of these things added (on separate channels) I can't see how to do it. Any clues? Thanks OG
Regarding the DHA compressor: Because the designer/builder is a user on this board? Because it's orange and green Because it's got a valve in it
"Different animal to a digital compressor" Said Dave when I finally gave in and admitted I just coudln't work out how to use it. I'm a numpty so I just wanted a simple thing that did what the compressor in my old Peavey combo did. Dave's valve optical compressor does something else. I didn't understand it nor could I get it to do what I wanted ...
I had one of those gigs where i felt like chucking my bass out of the car window on the way home. i've played the songs dozens of times but it was fumble here fumble there. starting when i should'nt have, absolute crap. we played on kind of verandah the guitarist had all the room the other end and i was stuck up against PA speakers almost sitting on my rig. almost hit singer a couple of times. i'll get him next time . and if we had'nt brought people with us there would have been no one there. but the guy has booked again and said it's bit to near xmas and poeple are saving their money. he also said he would lay on free mini bus so we could bring punters next time.
ha ha maybe you should play like that all the time if that happened:) Sounds like a roaring success given the limitations. When the booker books you again thats a hit and when the offer to lay on a bus for your mates that's an outstanding success
mmm Good point! I guess that'll mean a 'long scale' string, of the 36" variety. I think there are a few companies around doing long scale. D'addario pro steels and Rotosound strings come in long scale varieties. I'd have to find out if Elites do too.. but I think they are actually a fairly long string anyway. If I remember I'll get a tape measure to them for ya! At least you don't have to worry about losing a bit with 'string through body' bridges.
Don't Overwater do long long strings for their giant's basses?

Lightest proper P basses I've had were the long lost real 62 and the 1980's Fender Japanse '62 vintage re-issue. Both came in under 9 pounds. My MIA 1999/1998 was Ok at 9.5 and the squier JV was about the same. The P Lyte is lighter but, of course, it's not a P bass ..
