I used an old sanding block [you know the spongey ones] for under the quarter pounder on my p bass, i just carved it up with a stanley to the right dimensions and three years later its still there doing a grand job.
Yeah any old medium density foam will do it ...
With the wedding band we take a deposit on booking which can be anything from a few weeks to a couple of years to the actual booking but with my pub rock band its seat of the pants get paid on the night or torch the place type of gig. I am the great cornholio. I need TP for my bumholio, raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Yeah Weddings and functions are totally different. Everyone needs to know things will happen, the band will show up and teh event will still happen .. Pub gigs it's not so important from either side ..
Hi Si, Yeah, since spoke to the guitarist (his band by the way) while he agrees with my complaint he too says that it would probably do more damage in the long run, I still think it's wrong though, a couple of weeks notice or to move the date is fine if they need to but when it's a couple of nights notice to cancel it's quite difficult to replace the gigs. Never mind one day it'll be all different, pay to play will be illegal and cover bands will get some sort of fee recovery
Ha ha yeah ... Don't get me started on that again

Might scare off some of your pub gigs Jase, or reduce your repeat er bookings, or let doens .. Crez is in a totally different market if I remember correctly, the one where the fee ends in "thousand"
Have you thought about using a couple of toolboxes as a replacement? The keys player in my band uses Stanley aluminium ones with the internal toolbox trays removed, they look the part and do their job very well!
Yeah my guitarist uses a pair of Stanleys however that's then more things to carry and no wheeled box to roll things on I'm not being ungrateful or difficult, guys, but I like what I've got and want another the same, the damn company won't sell me one ....

Boss Octave Pedal - OC2 For Sale - SOLD
OldGit replied to aj5string's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
hi - i'm not going to the bash i'm afraid... The OC3 has got distortion, and in my view a more complicated comtrol system... This one is more basic - 1 knob for one octave below, 1 knob for two octaves below, and 1 for direct signal. It tracks better than the OC3 too. postage isn't a problem... Letme know if you are interested. Alex.
Yeah Might be .. So it tracks well? How's the battery life? -
Try and find out if you have a local brass band, or better still wind band . Wind bands have trumpets, brass bands have cornets but most will double up.
Yeah but they arn't used to playing standing up PM sent
Cheers Nick, its not that i want to pass it off or fool anybody(or sell it on as one)..i would like some sort of resembling logo for the headstock, instead of it just being blank...right now,i have just stuck a printed sticker on the rod cover to see what it would look like....anyway,i believe it is an electra!
There's some decal makers listed in the tech sources thread here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=248

Boss Octave Pedal - OC2 For Sale - SOLD
OldGit replied to aj5string's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Boss OC-2 For sale. Great effect, but i just don't seem to be using it much. In as new condition with box and manual. Manual is a bit crumpled, and the box is a bit tatty inside, but looks great outside. If it doesn't sell in the next couple of days, i will probably keep it; like i said, i really like it, just don't find myself using it. £40?
Might be .. are you going to the bash? What's the OC-3 got that this one hasn't? Cheers -
For lefty SX fans: SX Precision
Jono spotted it Rubbish advert - poor listing title and no description, so that will not go very high. However the 50 euro shipping to the Uk is a tad steep ....

I hope you didn't give him a basschat card I was perfectly happy with my '62 Precision which I got in about '72... Sadly in about '84 it was stolen and the GAS attacks have happened every few years since. I'm very happy with my basses now though and I can't see myself needing to replace either Shuker. The Markbass Amp is fine but I want to have two Schroeder 1212L's rather than one... and my effects are in flux too but that doesn't count -
A trick I learnt many years ago, from a BBC sound engineer/roady, was to coil it up into your hand, but put a sort of reverse twist into it every other coil. Very hard to describe in writing, but the affect is that you can coil it up, then hold one end and through the coil away from you and it will (should) completely uncoil itslef and lay flat on the floor without a twist in sight. Clive.
Yeah I know that method. Sailors do it with the ropes too ... In fact that's what I do having ended up with bitter and twisted cables in the past ... I'll still not be using those plastic things though
these guys are from a film, a trillogy in fact. i've seen the first one, and it's bloomin fantastic! but i can't for the life of me remember the name of the film... anyone know??
http://www.leningradcowboys.fi/index.htm "World famous Finnish film director Aki Kaurismäki's 1989 cult movie "Leningrad Cowboys go America" describes the fortunes and misadventures of a struggling Siberian rock band on their way from the tundra to America, eventually ending up in Mexico and on the local top ten chart. This hilarious road movie has been released in more than 30 countries around the world. The 1994 sequel, "Leningrad Cowboys meet Moses", tells of the band's return from Mexico, via New York and through Europe, back to their native village in Siberia. Besides all the feature films, Aki Kaurismäki has also directed a concert documentary "Leningrad Cowboys meet the Alexandrov Red Army Ensemble" plus several music shorts like "Rocky VI", "Thru the Wire", "L.A.Woman", "Those Were the Days“ and "These Boots" featuring the Leningrad Cowboys."
