2. I'm looking to use a stand or something to raise my cab off the floor and have it slightly higher off the ground, does anyone use something to do this? Or does anyone have any suggestions?

8. Thanks for the responses guys, given me a couple of ideas of where & why to use effects,
I personally think that putting effects on just for the sake if it sounds pretty bad, needs to be a reason behind the choices.
This was exactly why I started the thread!
9. I've not tried it myself but some people boil strings to bring back the brightness, could save you some money?
10. mild distortion + DI : Sans Amp MXR m80 Hartke Attack Behringer BDI21 Compression; MXR EBS
11. Terror all the way: sounds great, easy to carry, but most importantly it looks cool!
12. I am about to embark upon creation of my first pedal board, currently nothing massive: m80 + tuner (and wireless soon), and was thinking what should/could I do with any other effects I could possibly buy. (I have access to quite a lot of effects through amplitube and reaper, so experimenting and finding things isn't hard, but when there are so many options where to begin!?) So my question to you all is; What effects do you guys use and what do you use them for personally, whether it's tonal compression or something to balance out your playing, or reverb for creating a soundscape, I'm curious and looking for ideas! Thanks
13. might be worth trying them out in a practise situation before taking it into a live situation, to tweak out any issues. You could try using your drummers IEM system, to set up your feed, then swap over and see if it changes with your set up? What controls does it have on there? volume, mono / stereo & panning? EDIT: Might also be worth checking all the cables and connections are solid, as crackling is a common side effect to damaged / worn cables, or loose jacks. Or send it back and ask for a replacement to see if the problem still persists.
14. Haha yea I remember, we had a blast that night, went down so well they helped organised this tour for us! But yeah sober people don't seem to want to talk to us, probably a case of beer goggles! haha
15.
Didn`t realise you were a member here. Saw your band once, and you were awesome. Will have to get to watch you perform again
Do you remember where you saw us play?
16. we practise once a week if there is nothing major happening to get new songs / ideas going, when we tour or go into the studio we kick up to 2 a week to iron out any bits that need work. We always find if we havent practised together for a couple of weeks we are sloppy as hell!
17. I have ones similar to the pacato ones, same brand (ACS) different range. But they have a string to attach them together and you can keep them around your neck while between sets or taking a break from practise without putting them down and loosing them. (This being said I have still managed to misplace 2 sets of them as I left the case off my keys and lost the case... But now they are firmly attached to my keys... which if I loose I'm screwed!
18. Glad to hear your getting good use out of them!
19. Im using the mxr M80, might be able to pick one up second hand for <£100, has its own distortion, in there too, and can run off phantom power so don't need a power supply or battery if your just using it as a DI box
20. You could try not using the more dominant finger as much just to build up the strength and fluidity of your other fingers as well, so if your dominant finger is your index finger, try using your middle finger for single note runs to get used to using it as much as the other finger. Then when you feel more confident, start to do simple scales up and down the neck using both.
21. following the sentiment of everyone here, never pay to play, even if you're sure you could sell those tickets, your best bet is to find a promoter who puts on bands you would like to (realistically) play with, and start talking to them about what it would take to get you on the bill. A real promoter usually will take a chance and put you on a local night at a small venue without many outgoings to put bands on and see how many people you can bring. A good promoter won't need you to pay to play.
22. there are tonnes of rock bands about at the minute! just depends on how much your willing to pay to watch them!
23. If I can get some time this evening to finish mine I'll put my attempt up, but it's not looking likely! Damn life getting in the way of music!
