    After these comments I'd be really interested to run a comparison between the UL212 and my UL112/T112NYC set-up. I was in a situation recently where I played with really loud drummer on a dep gig. The drummer from my main band was sitting at the back of the pub and at break time I asked him what he thought. First comment was that drummer was far too loud, then he surprised me by saying that the bass was too loud so it must have been cutting through really well. I did a side-by-side with my two cabs against Gareth(Walbassist)'s former T212 last year and they sounded similar although the T212 was somewhat deeper. I suspect that the additional volume of the UL212 is what's causing it to be woolly. I just wish Epi would make a stright up 2 x 12-inch. Another interesting setup would be the UL212 with a UL310 on top. Wicked. Unfortunatley I don't have £600 to splash out on the experiment.

    I run a UL112 and a T112NYC from a UL502 amp. I've only once used the UL112 on it's own. The two cabs have different responses which complement each other. The NYC is very deep toned whereas the UL is more middy. I find it a great combination. Very loud, very punchy and nicely growly. Even at 5'6" tall I can carry both from the car in one trip.

    I'm sure this has all been done before but anyway - I used to jam with Denny Laine (Moody Blues and Wings) when he was resident at the original Blues Tavern in Farnham A previous band supported Doctor Feelgood on two occasions. Also supported the Jones Gang (Kenny Jones -Small Faces/The Who, Rick Wills - Small Faces/Foreigner, Robert Hart - Bad Company) We were also once supported by the Trevor Burton Band. Trevor was an original member of The Move. Last year I had the pleasure of jamming one number wth Rick Sanders (Violin) of Fairport Convention. Awesome.

    Now that everything is done and dusted, today I was able to make a donation of £130 to the Meningitis Trust, this being the difference between the total attendees subscriptions and the cost of the room. Well done everyone.

    I'm in the proces of checking one of these over for another BCer and had a browse through eBay to see what they sell for when I found [url="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Peavey-T-max-bass-amp-900-watt-Awesome-not-fender_W0QQitemZ200145009099QQihZ010QQcategoryZ58719QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem"]this[/url]. According to the manual these are 500w max output into 2-ohms and I'm not aware of a more powerful version. Also according to the manual the consumption is 900watts. Is he mixing his input with his output deliberately in order to hype up this modest little gem or can someone put me right?

    Thanks Nick. Glad you enjoyed it. Sorry DJ5 is not for sale. Well we did it. 4 gigs in 3 days. Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday afternoon and Sunday night and my finger aren't at all sore, in fact they are nicely hardened. Only sour point was that as we were packing up last night our drummer announced his intention to leave the band, in order to play something different, as soon as we can find a replacement.

    I think you'll have to try it and see. As you know already the Epi Ul310 likes to keep intimate contact with the floor in order to deliver lots of bass. I once put castors on a Trace 1048H, 10x4 and it just sucked all the bass out however some years prior to that I had a Marshall 4x10 on castors and that was just fine. Experimentation required me thinks. You must let us know how you get on with the GK 2x12.

    We are very fortunate that the exchange rate is acting hugely in our favour at $2 to the £. I can remember when it was even higher at $2.4 to the £ and also as low as $1 to the £.

A musician is someone who plays an instrument. Period.

    Hi Lee At 5' 6" I suppose I'm vertically challenged but I play both 34" and 35" scale basses. It's the smaller hands that go with the small stature that are the problem. Getting a suitable neck width and thickness is most important. Jazz string spacing at the nut is a must although I've not found too much of problem with different bridges. Strangely enough I don't like flat necks either. Remember if Suzi Quatro can play a full-size bass then sure as hell you can.

    I really regret selling my 1963 Framus Star bass in 1967 and giving up playing. I should have kept it and found another way to pay for a new roof for the car, but you can't turn the clock back. If ever I could find another at a sensible price I'd have it like a shot.

    It depends quite a bit on the size of your hands. I once bought a Fender Jazz 5 on a whim and found that I physically couldn't play it as the neck was so wide. In terms of performance, quality of build and value the Lakland DJ5 is it.
