1. I used to use this -> http://www.garywilli...etupmanual.html before I knew it all myself.
  2.
At home I use Chrome - no problems as described; At work I use IE 7 - no problems as described now (although the forum did not display properly until Ben ironed a few things out 2 weeks ago) On mobile I use Opera and Safari - both again no problems as described. It's very hard for me to fix something from my connections/browsers which all work fine for me If I could re-create the problem then I could try and trouble-shoot it.
Could it be a Win7 64bit thing?
Out of interest, what specific issues are you having on IE8?
Haha where do you want me to start? (most of my issues have been mentioned throughout this thread)
  3.
I spose this would work as well with a pair of old bass strings actually fitted to the E and G bridge and tuner positions?
I guess. But thread is more manageable.
  4.
So.. Should we get annoyed, or pity them?
It depends on which end of this thread you want to believe in most.
  5.
Interesting read, and good to see "Il Capo" taking an interest. As much as Sterling's posts sometimes really make me roll my eyes (I confess to have visited the EBMM forum on occasion ) he seems to have clear ideas about what's right or wrong and he seems to do as he says. Nice to see a company proud of their products, and not just of their bank balance.
I have to agree with you there Jose. That thread isn't indicative of the forum I knew and came to.... er.. forget.
  6.
So you've moved on from Justin Bieber then
According to the conditions of my bail I'm not at liberty to comment.... the little cock tease.
  7.
First off, mind your own business. Secondly, I've seen what these go for in Denmark Street, but once you get into vintage territory it pays to be absolutely certain of everything. This just might be a bargain....can I say that? 8.
Aww that was quite subdued for a EBMM thread I can't help but think there are a few comments directed at a BCer though . I wonder who it is
I'm a "Serial Fanatic" too. Coco Pops, Shreddies, Sugar Puffs.....

And very sensible replies from the residents too I think.
...but in the interests of maintaining good customer relations they should be bending S&T's ear trying to find out what happened, and put a stop to it if they've been doing something they shouldn't.
I appears that this is being done.
  10.
and then use the same technique to set the alignment on your car
Where do you think I got the idea from?
  11.
It's generally considered bad form on here to post comments like this.....
Also it is against explicit rules set out in the Market Place T&Cs here. Hope your daughter is ok.
  12.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
I get the same thing as you only sometimes it does work..... most of the time it doesn't. I tried replying to your post last night but it wouldn't even let me use the quote function. Quite frankly this new forum is totally broke for certain browsers, IE8, and Opera Mobile are the ones I use and both aren't fully compatible. Which has pushed me to other bass forums for my bass chatting fix. I have to say, one month in and I really miss the old forum it was faster and everything worked. Try it again Walman but with Firefox or something, it should work. Another bug report : ieSpell doesn't work any more if there are graphics smileys in the post.
  13. Them meeses love a bit of maple. I give our pet one wee off-cuts now and then and she whittles them away to nothing in no time.
  14.
Yes he did say that about sterling, I do remember once saying how much I loved my squire and would never need another bass.... If I still felt the same I would have a very nice bank balance. I am a proud member of ebmm forum and pretty sure I saw you there too, but one thing that is never brought up here is Fran spent most of his time there fighting with bp because he is not a sheep and diddnt just shut up and agree. He stood up to him and he stood up for this forum more than once. He diddnt get banned because he said one thing wrong it was because he said 100 things wrong. Yes he is my friend but my first time here I nearly got banned for standing up for sterling ! Fran is the kind of guy who speaks his mind, that to me is so refreshing. He is also a bloody good player who has forgotten more about bass than most of us will ever bother to learn. Sorry for the hijack Gareth, sick of the cheap shots Again hope your story ends well and ends soon :-)
Okaaay now you've got that out of your system ie accusing me of taking "cheap shots" maybe you could go back a re-read what I wrote.... a little less defensively. Liking Squires then finding something better doesn't make you a hypocrite. However, if you went about telling everyone that Squiers are gods gift in every thread you are involved in and recommended people spend money on them then suddenly changed your mind and told people that they are useless, that would. Furthermore it would go to diluting any subsequent opinions on the subject you had as mere faddishness. Yes, I am a member of EBMM. I think I've posted on there less than 10-20 times and I doubt I've posted there once in the last 2 years, as I soon realised that EBMM is a site visited by people only interested in aesthetics and "oh look at my new bass" and other such mutual onanism, whereas my interests are in more the technical aspect of basses and basses as tools for creating music rather than basses as chattels. You can also find me on most other bass related forums too if you look. Oh and I've forgotten more about bass than I've ever learned.... so what? Glad it's all sorted Gareth. Someone better call GAK and tell them to dust off the "good ones".
  15. I only PM from my PC now as I found all other methods were unreliable with the new forum.
  16. Tie two pieces of thread to your bridge (one on the G saddle the other on the E) then send them up through your nut (you need a neck fitted for this technique) and tie or tape off. Make sure your bit of thread on your G string is 34" long and that the saddle is about two thirds up on it's adjustment front to back. Then keeping the threads taught (not stretched), simply line up your bridge using the threads as guides in relation to your neck and pups - keeping your bridge nice and square accurately mark the positions of the screw holes. Then take your body over to your drill press.... oh ....
  17.
Suppose depends on your point of view I thought it was funny
At least 2 of you did then. I thought it was a mistimed shot at Sterling. I'm not say he doesn't deserve it but I found it irrelevant to the thread as the issue appears to lie with S&T and/or BM and not EBMM. I also found it a bit hypocritical since Fran has already been quoted in this thread as hailing Sterling "the new Leo" on the EBMM forum last year (I didn't know about the banning though.... and I certainly don't get all these matrix references). I wonder if Gareth saw the funny side seeing a message practically rubbing his nose in the fact (or not) that Sterling was pissing it up on his money? I'm sure the intent was good but it didn't come over well.
  18.
WTF?! Who "is" it?
Sterling Ball.

    Weight!!
The Aria weighs 5.1kg (11.2 lbs) I thought it would have been more. That's with the strap on.
Whoa there buddy, a little too much information.
  20. A barely loose wire which is knocked loose when you dig in etc.?
  21. I haven't tried one but it doesn't look like there would be much of a problem. Don't you mute just in front of the bridge? Everyone's different but I do.
  22. Looks like it's about to fall in half -> http://cgi.ebay.co.u...ME:B:SS:GB:1123
The photos are pretty accurate at showing the condition…BAD ASS!
Yeah ok.
  23. Could be a bad solder joint(s). It looks to be a very basic circuit design and a fault could be easily traced by someone with minimal skill. But then that puts you in a quandary, does it lose it's "silly money" value if you start re-soldering the joints?
  24. Aye aye, quelle surprise. It was down to you two (and perhaps 2 more) that the whole phenomenon grew wonky legs in the 1st place.
