1.
Mrs loves guitar hero. far better at it then me. Especially if it's a song I can play for real. The muscle memory kicks in and I just go wrong.
Yep exact same thing with us too, g/f is great at it and I can't play the game because the spacing is rubbish for the riffs. Looks like it would give me an eppy fit if I did anyway.
2.
A bit of soap works too. My dad taught me that. ;-)
I hope we're not still on the Discreet level of the conversation here.
3. What's the preamp based on? edit : ah ok, thanks for clearing that up Jonh. Gulp!
4. Moleys should do the trick. Next time drill bigger holes... and rub a wax crayon or candle over the threads before screwing.
5. I'm personally not a big fan of red basses but this one I like. What are the pups in this baby?
6.
It's a wonder you didn't crash. [INSERT HARD LOCK JOKE HERE]
I didn't realise he was probably driving at the time. I thought we were getting a wee clues about his dogging soundtrack. Wishbone's "The King Will Come" would be quite a good choice.
7.
From LushFest 2012 yesterday, playing guitar with sitarist Sheema Mukherjee. You may enjoy the dancers
What a beautiful song.
8. I would have thought it's going to be near impossible to ID it fully. Rumour has it that quite a few copies are doing the rounds as real ones and no one is any the wiser.
9. Aye have you seen the shipping though. Shouldn't be more than a fiver.
10. Ew why would you? I have an Epi pro IV and I'm over the moon the they come with a "proper" bridge instead of a 3 pointer. But to answer your question, yes.... but special inserts have to be fitted into the body it's not just a case of drilling and bolting.
11. Ya gots to put a price up Leo.
12. Already mentioned here I think the listing might have changed. I'm sure it said before that the pups had been hammered in.
13. TC Electronics Polytune... every time. (gosh darned predictive text)
14.
out of interest , what bass do you use ?
It has no name I'm afraid .... it's a home brew. edit : now I'm home and the hangover has subsided ... it's this bass...
15. My main band is in drop C and I have a d-tuner on the bass I use for that... only I always have the extender open and dropped and occasionally nip it up for D standard... but like hardly ever.
16.
that's what i think, so.... how come people are telling me its ok. ...
Lots of "experts" on Basschat telling ya this and that.
17. Holy sheeee....
18. These are the real Geeze though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw3Y-FDSFCE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5jTJlikMfI
19.
Fairies Wear Boots has some nice bass in it as well as Iron Man.
Not Terry himself but still good... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DBHqdxZrd4&feature=watch_response
20.
...Precisions with flats certainly seem to be having something of a resugence at the moment though.
I think we are actually starting to see an emergence of Jazzes with flats on now. (funnily enough that's what I started out playing with donkeys years ago... doesn't interest me now like)
21. To be fair they can be quite tricky to start with - splits, ripples, bubbles etc. and then once you've got it absolutely perfectly in place you've to watch and not rub through it with your sandpaper as you layer on (and rub back) your lacquer. I find that slightly off-cold water rather than warm helps, as it gives you more time to adjust and move it about before it dries on. The problem with homemade jobs is that unless you have a printer that can do gold or silver they will be naff... they can be a really good way to practice though.
22. Geezer is pretty much my original inspiration as a bass player. Check out Hand of Doom - plenty of dynamics.
23.
I'd say the neck at least is Tokai judging by the machines ....
Or used to be. It bears the tell-tail signs of amateur sanding... loss of definition to edges.
24.
..... Why do all the symbols have to flow towards you Star Trek-style? .....
Speaking of Star Trek, when exactly did Navarro turn into a Vulcan tranny?
25.
What exactly is a Greasbucket loom? Is this a more 70's style loom than a normal loom? Only reason i ask is that im about to undertake a very similar 70's P Bass bitsa project and will be using one of Kiogons wiring looms but was just going to ask for the normal one, didnt realise there were variants. Sorry to hijack, have a free bump for a delicious bass
There is quite a lot of info/discussion about them on the net. It wouldn't be cricket to say what the general consensus is on them in a FS thread.
