1.
I'm a massive Soundgarden fan. I saw them many years ago play for 2 hours straight. Then went off and came back for 30 mins of encores. They went off again, and came back. By that point I was rather bored and left... Apparently they played for another 25 mins.
Me too (you can probably tell by the name) but they've never really been all that great live. I don't blame you.
 2.
Or the main band hasn't arrived in time and just as you're finishing the set someone tells you you have carry on for another 40 mins! But, I suppose that's not over-running.
Nah that's not over-running. That's just doing what you've been told by them that's in charge. Hope you upped your fee for the extra work like.
 3.
The lodger story is obviously cock and bull... The lodger is a fabrication so he can avoid awkward questions and responsibility when and if the milk turns sour....
This. Although it absolves him of nothing.
 4.
But the seller is trying to sell someone else' property. Isn't that the same thing?
A similar thing happened with a shell pink '62 jazz and most (not me) on here seemed to back the recipient. Oh as for the bass. The pickguard isn't original at least, otherwise how do you adjust the tr.
 5.
The artists must have know the deal - if they didn't like it they shouldn't have accepted the gig. Prima donnas!
Oh come on guys. Has no one here ever over-ran... or is it that we are mainly just all support acts who can take liberties and leave it up to the main act to take the brunt?
 6.
When Springsteen is involved there's nothing funny...
I see your point. Although I always have a chuckle at that strange, jerky, he-man way he strums his guitar.... like he's pounding the kidneys of some non patriot.
 7.
'When did England become a police state?' 'Around forty years ago, Steven'.
Oi you don't be coming round here with your seeing the funny side and spoiling things.
 8.
This seems like the same guy. Something very strange going in his head! http://www.gumtree.com/p/community/bass-player-wanted-for-gigging-blues-funk-rock-band-female-bassplayer-welcome/106262943
Sounds like they are looking for a bass player and someone to make sandwiches.
 9. Are we confusing Got to Aquire something Syndrome with just being drawn to something while window shopping... or has the original meaning of GAS evolved into something else?
 10.
uh oh senior moment i just clicked on the OP's link and was merrily reading away when i thought to myself 'i'll start quick thread on this'
Just as well you didn't, no one's in the mood for irony today. Thread fail. Should have got Discreet to post it they'd be rolling in the isles by now.
 11. I have a feeling that in a lot of cases GAS is a bit of a misnomer. First off I agree that the internet and in particular for us Basschat is to blame. As the fundamental purpose of Basschat is... er... chatting about basses, we wouldn't be able to fulfil this objective without actually knowing what we are talking about, therefore experiencing a wide range of instruments or kit first hand gives us this knowledge (ok there are obviously a lot of exceptions on this forum ). But look how much time is spent on here talking about minor aesthetics or furthering daft internet myths and using these factors as excuses to drive a purchase, instead of concentrating on what makes them playable or good to hear from an audience's perspective. I never feel the need to buy a new bass because of some irrational desire to spend money on a whim, if I'm honest I'm usually driven by curiosity. Got to Aquire something Syndrome could in my case at least be replaced with Got to Learn about something Syndrome... not as catchy I know.
 12. Apparently no one's safe. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-18845542
 13.
I can't believe I missed a Gibson "guess the bass". Too busy baking.
It's not too late Matt. What do you think it might be?
 14. Though rare, it sounds a likely explanation. Can you post a clear pic of your wiring loom? (try not to have wires obscured by others)
 15. Ooh you're on fire Matt.
 16. It does sound like there may be a bit of tinkerage going on but if your blacks both go to some earthing point (ie the pot casing) then you should be fine. I presume your control plate is not painted or anything?
 17.
Tsk! I'm glad there's no-one like that on Basschat!
So glad you said that and not me... I couldn't handle all the ramifications tonight.
 18. Doesn't sound right. Have you had a look in the control cavity? Maybe something is shorting out the bridge pup?
 19. Not too bad then. Still, you'll probably feel it for a day or two eh.
 20.
Fell off my motorbike earlier!, when the Wife finds out I might just have the funds for a Classic5 after all!
Hope you're ok man.
 21. Nope, you are all wrong. It's a Ripper.
 22. Obviously never heard my wee LMII through my homemade 2x10 which can strip the flesh from the first couple of rows of sweaty faces.
 23.
Im imune gas wise to the Coral red actually...
Me too. Actually I'm not sure immune best describes it, allergic might be more appropriate.
