1. When I wired up my custom 4 string J with EMGs and an OPB3 I rigged it so that I can bop back n forth between 9v and 18v at the flick of a switch. I also wired it so that the PP3s are parallel at 9v so that each battery drains equally and presumably twice as slowly. There is a difference in sound but it is almost imperceptible to the average listener - like switching between a great sound and uber hi-fi quality. I'm not sure I know what this oft quoted headroom is but for me 18v offers a tad more width and sparkle. As a result I do all my home noodling and rehearsal room stuff at 9v to save battery life and to give myself a better chance of achieving that ultimate sound I play live with 18v. Who knows, someone out there might appreciate the difference.
2. PM'd re Q-Tron
3. Tonight I learned the guts of..... Meat plow Vasoline Interstate Love Song Silvergun Superman Unglued Sex Type Thing Dead And Bloated Wicked Garden Plush Crackerman Down Tripping On A Hole In A Paper heart Guess which covers band we've just stared? Got our 1st rehearsal this weekend, so I've got plenty time to tighten it up. No stressy bass lines to deal with just balls out riffing (I'm really loving the happy bass line in Plush too). And the best bit is after studying DVDs with the lads this evening we've discovered that my playing style is pretty identical to Robert DeLeo's - low slung with lots of prating about on the stage, so I'm gonna look the part too.
4. I had the pleasure of buying Antonio's MM case. Great comms, delivered sharpish with no complications. Cheers man. Rich.
5. I use BeatEd. It's a free drum machine for Symbian phones. I've always got my phone on me, so this means I've always got a drum machine on me. I put it through my stereo or PC at home for noodling. It's great if a pattern pops into my head or if I come up with a pattern that matches a new riff that I want to show the guys at rehearsal - plug it into the PA and Bob's yer auntie. There are a few ok kits available but for some reason I usually end up using the TR-808 kit. It's not hi-fi quality but it's fine for what it is. This guy is using the default kit which normally sounds better but you get the idea....
6. I wouldn't bother. If they are stoopid enough to pay that for it in the first place then they deserve everything they get for not researching it properly. Strewth, I've got a top nick ABM 500 II 4x10 combo for sale on here somewhere for about that much. (Hmmm maybe I should resurrect that thread sometime - but it would seriously pain me to lose it - don't tell the Mrs, she thinks I'm actively trying to shift it but that no one wants it. If no one knows it's for sale then no one will buy it. :brow: )
7.
Full bedroom set up for sale
Does the sale include duvets?
8. Apparently it gives more sustain. LOL Who needs 4 strings anyway. If you can't play in on 3 strings you're not trying hard enough.
9. Is it a thin neck or a body the size of Alaska? You could make a good 2 stringer out of it.
10.
She's my wife now Dave
I actually lol'd.
11.
Bacon powder, baconette bras? You've got bacon on the brain min!
Aw shoot, that was meant to be balconette. Maybe it's a Freudian slip and it's time to quit being vegy. How did that get through the spell checker though? What the feck is a baconette? A small apartment for pigs?
12. Hmm thanks guys. I might just try for twin vols then - it's what I'm more used to anyway.
13.
That's gorgeous, shame it's not a flamed maple top, i love them, good luck with the sale
Absolutely right man, it's not a flame top... It's an open top, exposing a rouge baconette brassiere.
14. Nope, still can't see it. BTW love your screen name Lys - being one of the afflicted myself... makes the Countdown conundrum a caker tho.
15. I have wired up a blend pot for jazz pups (via pre-amp) using this diagram... ... but rather than a "blend" the result is more of a "combine" as the volume goes up in the middle of the sweep where both pups are introduced equally thus doubling the signal strength. What is a better method (using the same 6 pole blend pot) so that I have an even sweep through to each pup but without the vol spike in the middle?
16. Probably. They cut it with any old sh*t these days.

18. That is the tidiest fx array I have ever seen. Your OCD must be worse than mine.
19.
I think he's just doing T-shirts at the moment.
From this year's Spring collection.
20. I've got some spare left over from xmas if you need some.
21. Ooh I so must have one.... but not in orange.
22. Anyway firstly, who's to say he's using genuine P pups/electrics and secondly he's a pretty competent bassist.... I'm sure he knows what he's doing.... especially considering how much stick 'tallica get from whiny bitches for even farting in the wrong direction.
