  1. The same was said of Wagner. ...
  2. Just to be clear... One is allowed to not like one, two or indeed all of the entries; voting is not (yet...) mandatory, so listening, then voting for only one, or two, or none at all is fine. Jut sayin'.
  3. My memory being as it is, I'll have to read it again to find out..! ...
  4. A shame; you're missing some delicious grub ... Suggested cheese and jam pairings ...
  5. Curtains, then, for Canned Heat, Poppa Chubby and Little Bob Story then, eh..? One could go on; the list is long...
  6. That's not a stick of bread. ...
  7. Precocious, huh..? There's pills for that, or thinking of John Major. Hope this helps.
  8. My Mum was Scottish; incomprehensible more than half the time in my case.
  9. Offers and trade propositions posted in 'For Sale' ads are systematically deleted. They are to be made by Private Message (PM...) only. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
  10. I've all but given up on getting stuff from the US of A, exactly because of shipping costs to France. To be fair, I've completely given up on getting stuff from the UK, for the same reason. Shipping within the EU is OK (always too expensive, whatever, of course..!), but acceptable. Shipping from the Far East is ludicrously cheap (but slow...). I bought a 'box' from the US in November; it finally arrived beginning of April, after much hassle for all parties concerned, and still had to pay import duties on top. I sometimes think that there's a tramp steamer still operating the Atlantic route, using dollar bills as fuel. Shipping..? It's a lottery.
  11. Does that make me a jazz drummer, then..?
  12. Good evening, Smudge, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  13. Buddy who..? ... ...
  14. In similar vein to the above; previously posted back in 2013, but all may not have seen it at the time ... LAVAL (France, Mid-'70s...) In a previous life I was a dep drummer, here in France. With a guitarist buddy, we went to 'audition' for a bloke, apparently quite well off, who had invested heavily in his daughter to form a variety band. She was to play accordion and organ, the fellow had a tambourine, all that was left was to complete with the other musicians. The downside..? She (the daughter...) was about 14, and had, not only no musical ability whatever, but no interest in humouring her Dad with his fantasy. I don't know how, but he had already got a gig for a village fête. My guitar chum desisted, saying (rightly...) that he couldn't follow what the girl was doing. I accepted, basically as money was tight at the time, and I shuddered to think of the poor spectators if she did the 'show' alone. The evening came and went. We weren't asked back, but I got paid. The ruse was simple: I ignored whatever she was doing, and maintained a reasonably danceable 'disco' beat the whole evening. Everyone danced. No-one could have guessed the titles of any of the numbers she 'played'; the variation came from me switching to 3/4 or 6/8 occasionally. I don't think 'Catherine et son ensemble' played any more gigs. All part of the job, really.
  15. Were we ever apart..?
  16. Good Stuff ^^ ... That's exactly how I go about playing 'free-style' when I'm not playing covers or such, or just chilling out, with 'empty' rhythms that correspond to stuff only I can hear in my imagination. Up the tempo a little, change the accent, throw in a fill or 'falling down stairs' drum lick, cool it down and start again... I get lost when playing (drums, stoopid... ) by myself; it can go on for quite a while until I suddenly find that I've forgotten to 'breath' again, and have to stop for a rest, exhilarated but exhausted. Good Stuff...
  17. 'Report' the post concerned, asking for it to be removed, and one or other of the great Mods here will oblige, hiding the offending post as I have just done. No need to thank me.
  18. A real Gibson would have been in much smaller pieces. (The video tells what it was, right at the end... )
  19. One can go quite a long way down the 'alternative materials' route. I have a set of these; they're environmentally friendly, and very good indeed... Aerodrums ...
  20. It looks like a reasonable solution to your issue, and won't cost a fortune to try out, at least. As long as you can live with an umbilical cord, it looks to be sound. Not yet available, I see, so some patience, unless there are other, similar product already in use..? Please update with your decision and experience, either with this or any other product..?
  21. Good evening, Phil, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  22. The 'Report' option still works; I use it often enough. Just sayin'.
  23. Fixed.
