Do you not know anyone in a relevant country that could take delivery, then send it on (or that you could pick up from...)..?

Yoko Ono releases new version of John Lennon's Imagine
Dad3353 replied to Newfoundfreedom's topic in General Discussion
News to very few of you, but I, for one, share the sentiments in the song, and feel very comfortable with the notion of sharing the World, with no countries, no religion, no possessions, no hunger, no greed. I'll like as not not see the day, of course, and some may say I'm a dreamer, but I'll do my (tiny...) bit along that stony path. As for the video clip, I've heard worse, much worse. Will I buy it..? Nah. -
Cheap amp cover, got it covered now, no pun intended

It may be worth noting that cardboard boxes are at their best if kept dry. A couple of spots of rain would pass, but not much more, at the risk of turning back to the 'porridge' that they were originally made from. Not a pretty sight. -
... or tune down a semi-tone and use a first-fret capo for the stuff in standard tuning..? Lazy, yes, but it's an option.

Is that a dragon's head carved into the headstock of that bass..? -

Not much better on a dance-floor, I suspect. -

From the technical point of view as a bass player, this is quite true, but as a piece of music to be played to a non-concert audience, it has, I believe, little appeal. Good for study, but a guaranteed party-pooper, except in a (very...) few 'beatnik' circles (and even then...). -
Here is my contribution to the October 2018 Basschat Composition Challenge, inspired by a picture chosen by last month's winner: Lurksalot. All Kontakt this time, using solely the 'Factory' orchestral brass and percussion. It may sound a tad dark at the beginning, but lightens up soon enough as the mellow surroundings and welcome sunshine leave their stamp. A bit of harking back to those 'Good Old Days' and reminiscences of more carefree times, perhaps. Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.

They're still there, but you have to go get 'em, using the Menu selection 'Categories/Default' (and I agree; they would be better as 'Default', but... whatever...). -

If there's anyone in the region that would be willing to take this on and manage it (for instance, move the items out, getting them sold, then hand over proceeds, or similar...), that could lift the burden, maybe..? A PM (to Ped, perhaps..?) would be a way to get such a ball rolling. Just an idea; hope this helps. (I'm obviously too far away, so can only offer my sincere condolences...)

New Old Bassist would Appreciate Advice...
Dad3353 replied to TripleB67's topic in General Discussion
... but only after having played 'as is' for quite some time. No damage will be done by 'tweaking', but no good either, until you're a bit more familiar with some of this stuff. Leave all of that for now, and just play the blinkin' thing..! -

Sorry, but that's not the criteria for judging these things. The 'looks' have their place, but, in musical instruments generally, it's the sound that matters most, and that's what to judge on firstly. As has been stated above, the positioning of that pickup looks to be intentional, and should be listened to, through experiences ears, before coming to any conclusions. If it's not too late, I'd say 'Don't touch anything at all, just play it' for a while (at least several weeks...), and have someone experienced, trustworthy and competent advise on any reflections you might have before taking any action at all. There's little in a bass such as yours which will require attention for quite some while, as it is a fine instrument, able to give satisfaction 'out of the box', yet still be 'tweakable' once one has enough experience to know what's best for oneself. Play it through your new amp, and enjoy your first steps on a long and fruitful path, in full confidence that you're on safe ground. Don't try to run yet; it's the fastest way to trip up. Slow, steady, sure... You've made some excellent choices up to now; keep that up and you'll go far. -
Not quite right; the demo version is free, but mutes after ten minutes. Just sayin'.

Every track, yes, but in totality..? 'Fraid not, old son. Enough to appreciate the inherent quality, though; it's almost good enough to have one regret not 'digging' funk..! (I am a superstar in other respects, of course, but that should go without saying, shouldn't it..? )
-
Assuming funds were available..? The amp/cab part would be easy enough, as there's a very nice Laney Nexus rig for sale at the present moment in these very pages, so that would be snapped up in a shot, to replace my Hiwatt 200w head and HH 2 x 15 cab. A bass would be more difficult, as there are no longer that many Hofner Verithin basses around, certainly not in as good condition as is mine. I'd be patient, although, in the meantime, I'd get by with a gold-top Jack Casady from Epiphone. The Verithin is much lighter, though, and at my age... Pedals..? Nah, I plug directly into the head, s'all. Did I mention I was 'old school'..? No..? Hmm, how odd...

Maybe post this in the 'Funk' topic..? I'll admit that it's not my 'bag', as a genre, but, in that genre, I'd also have to say that it doesn't come much better than this. Tight, 'funky' playing, competent arrangements, superb production... What's not to like..? Well done, all involved; it's a cracker (if one is 'into' this style, naturally...). Good Stuff.

Is that really its title..?
