  1. [Interlude Music, while we wait...] 'Misty', Composed by Erroll Garner, spoilt somewhat by my 'Lift Musak' arrangement. Sorry, Mr Garner.
  2. And the winner is... Fingers211..! Here, then, is your Winner's Certificate (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... BC_Chal_Cert_2019_05.pdf ... which looks like this (but bigger, of course..!)...
  3. Here is my contribution to the May 2019 Basschat Composition Challenge, inspired by a picture chosen by the previous winner: myself. There's been a 'Spinal Tap' moment in the ordering of a stage prop, a Fallen Angel, in polystyrene. The sketch showed millimetres, they've understood 'metres'. The resulting stage prop is rather cumbersome... Stitched together in Reaper, of course, using 'phone Fx (a period-correct coin-operated call box, a spot of nostalgia for the older listener; incomprehensible clattering for the youngsters...), a distant backing track of my creation, and my own dulcet tones in the role of The Caller. The tiniest smidgin of treatment, and that's all. The text of the dialogue is below... Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy. Hello..? Hello..? Acme Polystyrene Models..? Could you put me through to the modeling department, please..? Yes, I'll hold... Yes, I'd like to speak with Mr Barnes, the manager, please. Yes, I'll hold... Mr Barnes..? Oh, OK; I'll hold on... Mr Barnes..? Yes, thank you; quite well. We do have a little problem, though, which you may be able to help us with. Yes, that's right; the Fallen Angel. Yes, for the rock group. The stage prop. Yes, that's the one. What's the problem..? It's quite simple; I just wanted to check some details before you start production. What's that..? You've started..? Ah, I see. Ah yes; that's what I'm 'phoning about. You see, our Bass Player, who came up with the idea, sent you a sketch, I believe, of the Fallen Angel. Yes, I understand that you've received it... Hold on a second, Mr Barnes; I'm afraid there seems to have been a misunderstanding. The dimensions that the Bass Player put on his sketch were in millimeters. Yes, the head would be sixty millimetres high. Sixty metres..? Isn't that rather bulky..? A twenty-story building..? Ha ha..! Just as well you've not started... Oh, you have started... And you made how many..? Thirty..? Where are they all..? What..? All blown away..? Too lightweight..? Oh, of course; polystyrene. Yes, that makes sense... There's one remaining..? Finished..? Tethered..? Yes, of course; I'll send the tour bus round straight away to pick it up. A trailer..? Several trailers..? Helicopters..? I don't know about that; I'll see if anyone in the band has one available. No, no; just send the invoice to the production company, as usual. They'll sort out the finance. Thank you, Mr Barnes; it's been a pleasure. Are you coming to the concert this evening..? No..? Oh, I see. Well, thanks again; I'll get the Fallen Angel picked up right away. Goodbye.
  4. And if we just got on with the composing, eh..? ...
  5. I fear the worst.
  6. Thanls, folks. An honour, against such worthy contenders. PM sent, to get the May Challenge going...
  7. And the winner is... Dad3353..! Here, then, is your my Winner's Certificate (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... BC_Chal_Cert_2019_04.pdf ... which looks like this (but bigger, of course..!)...
  8. Voted. Difficult choice, as usual; the difference, and tipping point, was the use of the 'big beat' half-way through, of which I'm allergic. Other than that, I'd have voted for all four. Good Stuff, all.
  9. Don't tell me, let me guess... The one in the pink dress..?
  10. You are the Grateful Dead and I claim my £5..!
  11. Here is my contribution to the April 2019 Basschat Composition Challenge, inspired by a picture chosen by the previous winner: Rikki1984. Not much to be said, really; it's rather Spartan (deliberately so...). All Stylus RMX this month, custom-patterned, with a tinge of Fx, and some light mastering. T'was fun making it, and I learned a bit more, as usual with these compositions. Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.
  12. Darn it..! There goes a wasted morning's inspiration..! Your loss.
  13. And the winner is... Rikki1984..! Here, then, is your Winner's Certificate (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... BC_Chal_Cert_2019_03.pdf ... which looks like this (but bigger, of course..!)...
  14. Done, as best I can.
  15. A touch modest with that 'something'; it's got a nice 'Cranberries meet Mark Knopfler' feel to it. Good guitar work. OK, the singing voice is what it is, but Dylan didn't do badly with his, and as for Neil Young... Well done; a worthy entry.
  16. That's not a Chestnut, It's a Larch. ... OK, I'll correct it, but it makes a nonsense of your post. Serves you right.
  17. Here is my contribution to the March 2019 Basschat Composition Challenge, inspired by a picture chosen by the previous winner: Bleat. A long flight, all sorts of stuff goes around in one's head; this is but part of it (thankfully..!) All Vst's or free-to-use samples, all programmed by myself. Drums: Superior Drums 2. Guitars, baritone sax: Vst instruments. Sweet voices: Blue. The voyageur and BV's: samples. A fair amount of treatment required, to (try to...) get the samples to sing in the key required, at the right speed, plus a hefty dose of various reverbs, delays, EQ and compression, on individual tracks and Master buses. Yes, I know, 'Less is more', but in this case, it was 'More is required'. Sorry. Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.
  18. And the winner is... Bleat..! Here, then, is your Winner's Certificate (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... BC_Chal_Cert_2019_02.pdf ... which looks like this (but bigger, of course..!)...
  19. Ha..! I wuz just looking at doing just that, but I'll let the Boss earn his millions, I think. Good luck; there's quite a few..!
  20. Musique Location, Paris ... Patrick Charton, Paris ... Alienor Lutherie, Paris ... There are many more, but these are probably the 'biggest'. Hope this helps.
  21. No need, lad, folks is supposed to know that replies with offers or trades are verboten in Sales ads. If not, they are invited to read though the Terms & Conditions (T & C...) linked below. Carry on, and Good Luck With The Sale (or trade...).
  22. Just stating facts, s'all. And I can't remember what I had for breakfast last Sunday, so four and a half years... Peace. Edit: I'm minded of a delightful anecdote from John Aubrey's 'Brief Lives' concerning memory... 'This Earle of Oxford, making of his low obeisance to Queen Elizabeth, happened to let a Fart, at which he was so abashed and ashamed that he went to Travell, 7 yeares. On his returne the Queen welcomed him home, and sayd, My Lord, I had forgott the Fart.'
