A big 'thumbs up' on this, and 'Well Done' on at least trying to get a handle on all of it. One is not required to be a working muso to want to get to grips with this, much as one doesn't have to be a pilot to make model 'planes. It's a never-ending subject, with the promise that there'll always be another page to turn. It does become fascinating, I found, once one or two of the pennies 'drop'. For my part, I entertain no hope whatever of ever being able to play even 1% of what I've learnt over the decades, but I still continue to read through stuff well above my pay-grade, and enjoy mentally fitting it all together. Be warned: it's a slippery slope which, if you're not very careful, may, eventually, lead you down that most dangerous of rabbit holes: jazz..!

What Drive pedal is it..?

The Blackstar should work on that laptop, but he'll probably need to add an ASIO4All driver to get it recognised. It can be downloaded (free...) from here ... Asio4all.org ... That's about the cheapest way to go, assuming that he already owns the BlackStar. Other than that, a second-hand audio interface such as the very popular Focusrite Scarlette 2i2 or similar will do fine, too. The laptop will be fine for running Reaper (free for 60 days, then a one-time 60$ fee...); I used a low-grade laptop for years with no issues. Hope this helps.

Of the 268 files in my 'Beatles Remastered' folder, I had already made a personal 'Yes, I'll listen to those' folder, which contains exactly 61 titles. The others I don't really care for, or should really delete. There's at least a couple from most albums, but nothing from Abbey Road, for example. Even from my 'Favourites' list, I wouldn't want them played in a repeated loop. A quick play of one or two, now and again in the course of a year, suffices largely for me. I consider myself to be a fan, generally, but not fanatically so. S'not all good to my ears.

Two options... Play only Slow Blues, or Free Jazz. For neither of these is precise timing an issue. Nowt much else, I'm afraid, sorry.

Speaking for France, this is already a non-starter. All gigs are 'off', end of, at least for the next two weeks, and, in all likelihood, for much longer than that. If the UK has not yet announced similar measures, I'd take it as 'said' that it won't be long at all before the same measures are imposed. If there are gigs beyond this coming week-end, I'd say that they are already effectively cancelled. Maybe France is a little bit more hard-line for the moment, but the UK will be, in a very short time, in the same state. Stay at home. Don't go out, at all, except for very specific, essential things, such as getting food or medicines. Gigs..? We'll see about gigs later on, when Summer's passed, I reckon. Sincerely hope this helps.
