  1. There are about half a dozen that fit the bill currently on the first page of the BC Marketplace, 'Basses For Sale' ... If none there appeal, there's an MTD Kingston Artist 4-string on the Bass Direct site worth a glance. You're spoiled for choice, really; Good Hunting.
  2. There are people..? ...
  3. There are views..?
  4. You might get lucky; no-one has yet voted, it depends if Lurks can get a signal of more than one bar in the outlying sticks.
  5. ... All Good Stuff, but play the notes, and name them, out loud, each time. Do this slowly, it's the fastest way to learn stuff like this.

  7. I'm of the opinion that appearances are of little or no importance, it's what's inside that counts. 'Judging a book by its cover' and all that shallowness baffles me somewhat. To each his/her own, naturally, but I find it all rather sad.
  8. To be fair, this is probably true of most basses, too.
  9. That was the central seat..! I have a string of anecdotes relating to these Thames 15cwt vans, a few of which may have already been posted here in years (Decades..? How time flies..! Where does it go, eh..?) past. Happy daze..!
  10. Tell me about it. Wipers..? Luxury..! Now when I was a boy...
  11. That could have been my 15cwt Thames van there, but it's too shiny..!
  12. A rough estimate gives me 20 bass cases per cubic metre, so we're talking about 50 cubic metres (allowing for a walkway between the stacks..?). That's with the cases stacked flat, 20 high, in a room 5m x 5m. A tight squeeze; some basses need bigger cases than the 'average joe' I counted on. A bit tough if the one you want to play is at the back, at the bottom.
  13. Is 15m long enough..? You asked for 20m.
  14. What, precisely, is the problem you're wanting to solve..?
  15. I'd suggest that the jack socket is faulty, and remains 'switched on', even with the jack plug removed. It would be easy enough to check, by measuring the current drawn from the battery with the plug in, and again with the plug out. Any run-of-the-mill guitar tech (or even electrician...) could do the test; if there is current drawn without the plug, get the jack socket changed. It's certainly not normal to have a 9v battery go flat so quickly. Even intensive use should last at least a month or so, but most likely much, much longer. Hope this helps.
  16. How do I remember what..?
  17. Here is my contribution to the July 2024 Basschat Composition Challenge, illustrated with a picture chosen by Upside Downer. The theme is set in the title; what else could it be..? Yes, it's a Cycle of Pedal Points, in various forms. Basically a 'standard' chord progression, with a bass line forced to pedal, mostly (but with some walking...), not aided by a slew of synths (well, two, really...) that toodle along merrily, punctuated by a low-key drum track. I found a couple of suitable (for any one definition of 'suitable' ...) vocal tracks, for colour, and a bit more pedalling. All in Reaper, of course, with only a few light Fx, my usual NY Glue Cockos compressors and a spot of Ozone 8 on the Master track. Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.
  18. Random photo; my kits sparkle far less than that one.
  19. Would you buy a bass from this man..? All of ten minutes, edited by a certified ignoramus dummy.
  20. Finger trouble...
  21. For some..? Maybe. For most..? Not at all. It's an alternative to the 'infinite monkeys on infinite typewriters' approach.
