  1. That particular example cited in the article above was not among the Amazon practices, but of a poultry processing firm. Not to say that Amazon are good to work for (that turnover rate is from the US, not the UK...), but folk that take up their salaries are free to quit, if the job does not suit them. I find it somewhat disingenuous to extrapolate from there what defines anyone as a 'good person'; their own conscience does that for them, and is their own concern.
  2. I've just re-installed Ozone 8 on my PC; it wasn't all that difficult (but not with iLok; I've never gone down that rabbit hole...). If it helps, here's the installation file I used ... iZotope_Ozone_Elements_v8_01.exe
  3. If I didn't buy from Amazon, I'd buy very little, as there are very few outlets for many items locally available to me. I also buy from other web outlets, such as Thomann for music stuff, PB Modelisme for modelling materials, Berlin Packaging for glass jam jars, and many more. My only criteria would be to not knowingly give my custom to any Israeli company. Of course, I also shop locally, as a preference.
  4. It's discutable, but only if the intention is to make money. It's not ours (we play for free, and only when invited...). Not all bands are in the Entertainment Business, nor want to be. Some are happy doing things a different way, and so are their audiences.
  5. Serves you right for trying to hack Stubsie's account. ...
  6. Over the decades, the stuff I bought has, maybe, changed in commercial value, but it doesn't interest me to even look it up, as I won't be selling any of it, anyway. Good when I bought 'em, and still good all this time later. I'd not hesitate to change a worn-out pot, or have a p/u re-wound; the 'collector' value (if any...) is of no interest to me. I'd rather have my stuff working at its best.
  7. Snap (almost...)..! Mine is 53110; we're (almost...) neighbours..!
  8. ...But, by then, you'll have aged, and had the photo updated.
  9. Your acumen does you proud.
  10. I'd suggest fixing a date with them for getting the monies paid over, and let them get on with their gig programme.
  11. I'll look up their touring schedule for France, to give me time to close all the doors and windows.
  12. It's looking good; more when logistics can be consolidated. Steve's a Good Egg..!
  13. A new, slight, complication. The bass is now at Shepperton (near Heathrow, with easy M25/M3 access...), but my cross-channel 'mule' is based in Portsmouth, and won't be able to hop up to fetch it. Is there a BC member, travelling in the next couple of weeks along the M3, willing to get it from my brother at Shepperton, and harbour the bass, in its gig-bag, in the Portsmouth area until my 'mule' can pick it up at a mutually-agreed rendez-vous spot..? Thanks in advance; details by PM.
  14. Here is my contribution to the July 2024 Basschat Composition Challenge, illustrated with a picture chosen by Andy Travis. Little by little, by stealth, Evolution is relentlessly creeping up on us all. Some species are faster at it than others, all the more so using mimicry. Fully orchestral, this time, using Philharmonic 1. Five tracks, layered over a constant cackle from the lesser creatures plus a couple of Bob Reynolds saxes, all in Reaper, of course, with only a NY Glue Cockos compressor and a spot of Ozone 8 on the Master track. Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.
  15. It's bloody heard to listen to anything at all, let alone a 'narrative', when there's a forty-ton steam and diesel pile-driver banging away at 140db each side of the stage.
  16. It's just a shame that they can't turn off the pile-driver banging away over the music. Can't the works be done at another time, when the festival is over..?
  17. And the winner is... @AndyTravis ..! Here, then, is your Winner's Certificate (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... BC_Chal_Cert_2024_06.pdf ... which looks like this (but bigger, of course..!)...
