    Band PA

For what the OP has specified, I'd say that a Yamaha Stagepass or equivalent would be fine. There have been some interesting posts with similar gear: a pair of 10 or 12 boxes on stands and a small mixer. When (if...) things develop, it's easy to upgrade depending on future needs, but these needs are, as yet, unknown, so... Yamaha, Wharfedale, HH... These are all suitable.

Perhaps the definition of 'small' is a bit different, stateside..? In a local pub we sometimes play in, the band takes up more room than the audience space, and we're a simple four-piece plus singer.
  3. Is this the right version..? Too much wild bass often confuses Soundcloud, so it's best to stick to a 'P' bass (with flats, naturally...) playing root and fifth. That may be the issue you've been having.
  4. Not a chance. We seldom watch the commercial TV channels; if we do, the sound gets muted instantly when ads come on. It's a pet hate. Not much from the radio (R4...) either, but I do get off to sleep listening to France Musique, the classical station. If I hear any good stuff, I've forgotten what it was the next morning anyway.
  5. Disclaimer : I watched another Julien Lage video and it wasn't very good, so ...
  6. Good evening, Stu, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.

  8. Don't say that or he'll be back with the second part in a moment or two...
  9. Good grief..! Improved greatly, I'd suggest, by cutting the vocal mic completely..! I wouldn't stand that sax sound for long, either..! Not a fan (that's an example of understatement...).
  10. You do as you wish; others do the same. There is no real information in topics of this sort. Make your mind up on what you believe; there's no call for spreading partial, or disinformation, here. This topic is now locked.
  11. It rings a bell; I've certainly heard someone singing that live recently, probably as recent as this century. Susan Boyle, maybe..?
  12. Read about it here ... Musiker : Our Story ...

  14. A drop of wood glue won't hurt, though.
  15. Being somewhat minimalist, and having, not just a bass rig, but a PA, guitar stuff, drums etc to shift, we make up 'dolly plates' from ply and a set of heavy-duty castors... Optionally, cut a hand-grip into one end, to ease carrying it empty, and/or hole for a knotted rope for hauling it along. Cheap, cheerful, pretty well unbreakable and polyvalent. Not so good when stairs are involved, I'll grant, but handles Leslie cabs or pianos, too.
  16. Good evening, Leslie, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  17. Here is my contribution to the April 2021 Basschat Composition Challenge, inspired by a picture chosen by the previous winner: Leonard Smalls. A solemn occasion, so a sombre mood seemed appropriate, to commemorate the Fallen. A tribal tribute, with a military tinge, and weather to suite. Not really dance-hall stuff; more for reflection on the wisdom of taking the Queen's shilling, or following the Witch Doctor. Sad days for all; there are never any victors. Almost all is taken from ethnic Kontakt libraries, save the cracked flugelhorn, from the rather fine Decent Sampler collection. Very little in the way of Fx: my usual Cockos NY drum bus and NY glue, with a dash of ReaDelay for the horn. No mastering; s'not necessary here, just a straight Reaper mix. Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.
  18. I'm sensing here that the bass cab is somehow colouring the bass tone to some large extent; enough to 'justify' adding it to the bass tone from a post-pre or post-power amp signal into a suitable DI. I would gather from this that this specific colouration is both wanted by the bassist (and, by extension, the band...), and is a constant throughout the performance. For my part, I find it strange that one would want the same bass tone for the whole length of the concert or event. It certainly wouldn't be usual for function bands, where a wide variety of styles is the norm. If the cab itself is, indeed, such an important part of the tone, it's going to be very difficult to change for another, as most cabs, whilst having maybe their differences, are designed to colour very little; not enough to make the sound so distinctive as to be essential, I'd have thought. I may be wrong, of course, but I find the notion rather odd, that's all.
