1. Having a bit of a clearout so these things are surplus: Rotosound TruBass nylon strings - cut for a P bass, hardly used. £12 Radial Bigshot I/O - great pedal for running 2 inputs into one amp, including a trim pot to set the volume to match on the 2nd channel. SOLD Aguilar AG500 padded carry bag - mint condition, nicely made for lugging about an AG500. SOLD Korg Pitchjack Tuner - nice little tuner with a light to see where you are plugging it in etc. Good enough for normal tuning or a great backup tuner. SOLD Rotosound Jazz bass flats - also cut for a P bass, less than an hours use. SOLD Levys Strap - nice strap and practically brand new, only used at home for a an hour maybe. SOLD All located in Ipswich, but can be in Norwich possibly - otherwise I can post them at cost of course
  2.
Thanks - I suspect the bolts have been taken out of the pack cos the bag the rack ears came in was open. I've tried calling him but it sounds like he's out of the country and isn't answering. I've even rung Aguilar and there's no answer AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I guess what you want is someone who hasn't rack mounted their AG500... I've got the nice Aguilar padded bag for the head (mint) that I never used as I rack mounted mine - shoot me a PM if you are interested, although I guess you *need* to rackmount it with a tuner etc? J
  3.
I've just bought a rack case for my AG500 and thought I'd put the head in the rack. I have the rack ears but alas no f***ing mounting bolts in the box. The other problem I have is the carrying handle on the side of the head is in the way of mounting one of the ears. So, please help with a couple of questions; Should the mounting bolts have come with the head / rack ears? Can I buy some the same size locally - ie B&Q? How do I remove the carrying handle from the side of the head?
Al, Mine came with rack ears and 3 little bolts to mount them to the head. The side handle and feet will have to come off to rack mount it, feet just unscrew and the handle needs the little metal covers popped off to allow you to access the screw that holds the handle in place. J
  4. At the "Aguilar Easter Bunny" stage I thought I was done... Hmm...somehow I'm looking at this rig instead and I'm an even happier bunny Really loving the RH450 so far, nice compliments from the FOH soundman at Saturdays gig and only once did I manage to stand on the mute switch by mistake when it was behind me!
  5. Adam bought my AG500 rack recently - paid cash on delivery, no problems at all
  6.
Hi All , any Aguilar users out there ? Im thinking of purchasing an aguilar ag500 and not 100% as for what cab/s to go with it ? how did you find the aguilar on gigs ? did the 500w was enough for a big gig ? how reliable was it ? what cab did you use to get the most efficient power of the amp ( would love to hear your AG experience cheers Rachel
Great amp for gigs - good quality DI (FOH soundman has always commented on that) plenty loud enough for me and we are a pretty loud band with the added challenge of a loud keyboard player. Totally reliable. Always used Aguilar cabs which I think are the perfect complement as the AG500 is a little "middy" which when combined with the slightly mid scooped GS cabs makes a good match. Dropping the amp off in a couple of hours to thedontcarebear, so you can get a second opinion on that soon as well
  7. Now sold pending payment when I deliver it tomorrow EDIT : Done and dusted...
  8. Bump - some interest but no committments yet
  9.
That's some great gear. Why are you selling, if that's ok to ask?
I'm in need of a change - the way my sound has been devolving (I seem to be going backwards!) has meant that I think this head is a little bit too "indefineable-thingy" that isnt quite me at the moment I also have my eye on something that I think is.
  10. Not much to say about this really, only a few months old and in perfect condition, its been racked most of the time (always at gigs). It's a great amp with the functionality of muting and access to the distortion channel via the included footswitch. I've got all the original parts - feet, side handle, manual etc The tuner is also mint (I still have the box and manual) and the rackcase is a Gator 3U shallow one in good nick with working latches/lids etc. I'll consider splitting the stuff up, but would rather see if there is any interest in the whole bundle first. Retail for this lot new is about £1000, as its all as good as new I'm looking for £725 for the lot collected, willing to discuss postage or a meetup if need be. 11.
Keep the PM's coming, I feel that there's a deal to be done today.
Best of luck with this today - I'm pretty surprised it wasn't snapped up a lot quicker. When Paul sold it I had to take some time to seriously reconsider buying it back, and again when you posted it. This is a beautiful bass folks - if you like the musicman vibe, this will give you serious satisfaction.
  12. I seem to be the only person using the Ernie Ball straplocks? I love them, industrial strength and a good design - even if the nut was to come undone whilst its in use it still wouldnt fall off because of how they work. Pricey, but in my opinion awesomeness is worth a few pennies
  13. Legion

    SOLD

Let me count how many Stingrays I've owned....hmm...*thinks* '87 defretted, '91 fretless, '89 fretted, '92 fretted, 30th edition ray, 2008 HH sterling So you would think I had worked out by now that I like them but maybe its not what I'm looking for. So why do I still desperately want to own one of those ebony edition ones! I seriously wish I could try it out but Spain is a little far to drive J
  14.
Great bass guys, was once mine, just the wrong timing, thanks for Legion and the option. The bass to hold any band together bar none, whose the lucky boy........................
Sorry it didn't quite work out this time Andy - I figured you deserved first dibs at getting it back The lucky owner is now "Geddys nose". Or at least he will be when I get to the post office after lunch and send it on its way.
  15. Met up with Alan this weekend to buy his Sadowsky that I immediately sold on because it smelled wrong (joke). Absolute pleasure to deal with - thanks again Al
  16. Officially withdrawn, just can't do it. Just to remind myself I'll post it again... Nobody let me stray again or I'll be in trouble
  17. I like it Jez! and it made me miss the old double bass *sniffle* Keep up the composing
  18.
Drat. It's back.
Well, it was... Now sold pending full payment. Popular these Sadowsky things eh J
  19. Well, firstly I think I better start this post with an apology to those who were interested in this bass as recently posted by Niceguyhomer... Previous sale I was first to put up the cash to get it, but was always a little unsure if it was going to be a good idea. I figured there was only one way to find out and that was to get my hands on it for a proper go. I was all sold on the idea and hence put my Tony Franklin up for sale but had a sudden rush of guilt/attachment and just don't think I can bear to part with my fretless So here it is again, so for those of you who wanted it before please get it contact with me if you are still interested. It's an awesome bass with a huge amount of punch and clarity, nicely balanced and in excellent condition with the original Sadowsky Ultralight case etc. A couple of months ago I would never have sold this, it would have stayed in my collection. My recently aquired Pino Palladino CS has shaken up my outlook though, I've found my "one" bass and the fretless is just an awesome backup that I can also use for slightly different stuff. If I kept this Sadowsky I have no idea what I would do with 3 basses, and this deserves to be used £900 collected. Willing to post at buyers expense.
  20. Presently on hold - for 24 hours or so. Thanks for the interest so far
  21.
Right couple of Qs here, cos it's a beauty and I have more gas than a baked bean factory worker. I know a Warwick is my ideal workhorse bass, BUT, I really have need for a gaseous exchange - I really fancy a Precision fretless. I had a Jap Fender Jazz Special with a Mighty Mite ebanol neck, in many ways a similar bass to this (obviously not the quality), but the output was low compared to my Warwick, and it had not enough punch. I liked the feel of the neck but it was a bit shallow, even for a Fender. All in all, I know I'd be comfortable with a P-Bass. So ..

Is this a fairly high output for a passive?
Is the neck profile reasonably chunky, or shallow? (I'm used to recent Warwick necks and don't like shallow shredder necks).
Will it do "deep"? not asking for full on active bass dub tones, but deep, warm, punchy mwah. It's a bit hard to tell in WoT's vid because he likes a bit of HF thwak going on I think. I roll the treble off quite a lot.
Would you consider a swap and some cash your way for my Kopo fretless? I have strong interest in it but nothing solid yet so it may be a couple or three weeks before I manage to sell it.
Thanks so much, like Chris says, three lovely Fender Fls so close together!
Hmm, I'll try to help as well as I can (not sure about all the questions exactly) Output is fairly high in my experience - I've often had to keep the gain fairly low to avoid distortion especially when sliding up the neck Neck is shallow, wide but shallow. It's got a lot of punch, and can sound warm ( I roll off treble a lot as well). Not sure about "deep" ? though No swaps sorry, I'm keeping the collection down. Hope thats of some help at least - you are welcome to try it if you fancy the journey Jas
  22. Well, it pains me to do this one but I'm a financial wreck at the moment (note to self - don't buy new motorbike again). It's a Fender artist model - the Tony Franklin Fretless Precision, I could say more but in light of WoT's recent Fender dilemma I'll just post a couple of links to his very thorough review (hope you don't mind Micheal) WoT's Franklin stuff with Videos I'm the original owner of this bass, and its been well looked after with light playing use. It's seen a couple of gigs and a few rehearsals plus a lot of playing time at home. Weight is nice and light at 8.2 lbs. There is a little marking on the fingerboard from using rounds but its purely cosmetic and a bit of wire wool rubs it off if you wanted to. I remember when Jezyorkshire came round to pickup my double bass and he had a play on this - I wasnt sure if it left me inspired or suicidal. Just goes to show in the right hands its a killer bass. Beedster has also had a quick blast as well and the feedback was good. Looking for £900 collected. Willing to post if required at extra cost. Few pics for your perusal... EDIT: one extra photo of Tony & the bear
  23. Oh dear, I only had one thing left on my list of "must-haves". This is it. Although I'd have to put a tort guard on it Erm.. I'll see what i can do today. Would a little paypal deposit secure holding?
  24.
Here's the beast. I prefer the pickup covers on and find the thumb position more comfortable than on the pickup, even with a floating thumb.
Me likey me do should have bought that one Pete!
  25. Gigged the new bass on Saturday and it sounded awesome - happiest I've been with my live sound for a long time. Here's a little picture someone snapped... 1st live use of my Novation Bass Station keyboard as well, it went down a storm!
