  4. It wasn't me - Shaggy
  5. Not that I should need to explain myself to you but I wanted easy access to the review. Happy now??
  6. Overly critical imo - yes this is a low to mid price bass but it doesn't feel cheap. The build quality is more than OK, neck fit is what generally let's a bass down - no issues with mine. Neck profile is chunkier than a standard jazz but not so much that it is in any way difficult to play. The shallow profile would appeal to slappers for sure. In house Spear pickups are adequate - if you want to swap them out that’s your perogative but who is going to spend more on pickups than on a whole bass? Tuners/ machine heads are your typical elephant ears - seem to hold tune OK so far. If you don't have great expectations you won't be let down. It's an unusual beast and that really is going to be its USP.
  7. Bump
  8. Can’t decide between a P, J, or MM bass? Spear has you covered with the Flextool, a bass that’s loaded with all three pickup types. The Flextool is built with an alder body, Canadian Hard Maple neck and Indian Rosewood fingerboard. Its pickups and hardware are all Spear’s own brand. The pickups include a single coil in the neck position, a split single coil in the middle, and a humbucker in the bridge position. Each pickup has its own volume knob. The Flextool also has a master tone control and a kill switch on the lower horn. The Spear Flextool comes in Black, Lake Placid Blue, Orange, and Jamaica Green color schemes. For more info, check out the Spear Guitars website.

  10. Hole in my shoe - Neil from the Young Ones
  11. The Jackson 5's "I want you back" gets a lot of credit for the great bassline but I think that this is equally catchy https://youtu.be/BIZWIJwHiaU?si=fZETcRT0BmirYJVC
  12. Summer the first time - Bobby Goldsborough A secret favourite of mine.
  13. Ah, obviously...goes without saying. 🤪🤪
  14. The one I have is probably one of them.
  15. News to follow about donations from big companies.
  16. I have a Mahalo solid body short scale. As mentioned the really short scale does take some getting used to but the phat sounds are to die for. They sound amazingly like a double bass - my neighbours thought that anyway. I'm surprised that anybody uses one live - with mine tuning is a nightmare, pretty much just stretching the string between the nut and tuner.
  17. A custom bitza!! Looks like it was put together from bits they had lying about - reverse 5er neck, Jag body.... Not for me.
  18. Too late... Back in the USSR - The Beatles
  19. BC member @Lukasz Chyla builds and finishes his own basses. It might be worth sending him a PM.
  20. Lightest roundwound strings that you can find too.
  21. I've recently bought a Spear Flextool which has HPJ pickups - each has its own control knob which may be the way to go - must be the easiest way to understand what you are doing.
  22. Ram Goat Liver - Pluto Shervington
  23. One of my mates, Chris ( @bassface2k10) is imo a great player - never known him to miss a beat, always in time and had an excellent practice regime. Despite this he would never play at Bass Bashes - he held everybody else in high esteem while doubting his own ability. I think that this is a typical bassist characteristic - if we were shouty, "look at me" people we'd probably have been guitards.
  24. Some photos. Note the "kill switch " on the lower front horn and some of the many "character" marks.
  25. @Rayman I don't think that the humbucker splits but I could be wrong having only played with it for about half an hour. @Lfalex v1.1 each pickup has its own volume control so you can feed in as much of each pickup as you want. You can isolate a pickup using the same process. Makes it so that even an idiot like me can figure it out.
