Alan makes some of the most beautiful basses (and guitars unfortunately) I've ever seen. I loved both of mine but I was far too precious with the Harlot SC in particular. They're for playing too...not just pieces of art.

I find it helps with reducing unwanted noise, clearing up hiss, finger noise and bumm notes. As @grandad says "thickens up the tone a bit".

I had this same fitting on my Ritter Cora - the cable/ jack are not a problem when playing the bass on your knee. -
