  1. The 80s are my favourite era for music. The level of the musicianship is certainly higher than the decade that followed.
  2. Leaving on a jet plane - John Denver
  3. Teen Town - Weather Report
  4. Ram goat liver - Pluto Shervington
  5. There are loads of songs which have had the reggae treatment and people don't know the original. UB40 have made a living from it.
  6. IMO you could do much worse than a Bass Collection Nanyo. You can still find them for silly money (around £100) though this is getting harder now that the secret isn't as closely guarded . Look for a 310/ 320 with pj pups. Lovely fast necks and around 8lbs.
  7. Big 7 - Judge Dread
  8. Yep, I do that too. Tape round the handles in another colour to highlight them.
  9. I prefer the A frame design. I have a compact Hercules which fits in a bag but I don't trust it as much.
  10. Sacrilege!! This would mean we would not have a need for a fretless bass...what am I supposed to do with the space and money??? Oh, OK...I could buy another bass I suppose..
  11. I have tapewounds on several basses. First used them on my Silk bass, they feel sooo good to play with great tone. I can't play Steel strings anymore. I find the Warwick or Fender tapewounds to be great vfm - the Warwicks are available as 40 and 45 too, fattest string in a 4 string pack is 100/ 110 - this means you can order a 115 or 125 B string keeping the set as light as a Steel set.
  12. When I last shipped a Trace Elliot combo I covered the grill / controls with a hefty piece of cardboard then wrapped the whole package in more cardboard. Remember to write the weight on the box so anybody handling it knows it's heavy. Not that expensive to courier.
  13. @ChWillie...Nice dog.
  14. Catchafire - Bob Marley &
  15. Blue Moon - The Marcels
  16. I recently paid £57 for a set of tapewounds. No 5 string sets available at the time so had to go for a 4 string plus a single. The 4 string set were £43 and a single 5th string was £8 - then there was the P&P. Now available on Amazon and eBay for around £50 Thomann are the cheapest site but are charging £19 delivery Earlier this year I think I paid £39 to my door. When I could buy them from Status Graphite they were soo cheap that it was like buying steels from a shop. Ah, those were the days...and reminiscing was so much better then too.
  17. Mine is arthritis - hands and elbows mostly - just have to play in moderation.
  18. Club Tropicana - me cousin George and some other fella...
  19. One in ten - UB40
  20. I beg your pardon (I didn't promise you a rose garden) - Lynn Anderson
  21. Whole lot of love - LZ
  22. I credit @pedwith the "invention" of finger puppet tuners. If anybody else takes credit we should support our leader in any court action he might choose to take.

  24. Ramps are like those finger puppet things that @ped has on his tuners...seem like a good idea for a while but then you realise that they're superfluous. Remember eye lashes on little cars?
  25. I get confused on this thread. Sometimes it feels like not everybody knows the rules on this thread. From the opening post : Post a song title that relates / makes sense from the immediately previous one. Artists name in brackets. I'll start the ball rolling. if it kills me (therapy?)
