I used Lemon oil on the '51 assembly I did a few months ago and it brought the grain out really nicely.
I was thinking about doing the same.
I'm not after a gloss finish so hoping that will have the desired effect.
Got the sanding done down to 1000 grit - not sure yet whether it needs more work. Letting the body dry before making any decisions.
Possible that the first coat of oil goes on this afternoon.
Dogs need to go out first.
So the surrounds that Rob designed and built for me arrived this morning.
Simplicity is an amazing design and these fit the pickups and design perfectly.
The surrounds and the bass without them.
Firstly I believe that there are very few bad basses on sale currently. The standard of construction and quality control is a class above what was available when you were 17.
Secondly the Sire was designed around Marcus Miller and he insisted on quality. There's a video somewhere that you might want to watch.
There's also that "honeymoon period " that goes with buying a new bass - it always feels better than what you already have.
Enjoy your new toys!!
Whichever bass you take you need to impress with how you play not what you walked through the door with.
Take which ever you feel most comfortable with on the day and don't worry till then.
I think that I recently put a bass in the spare one I have (with Overwater logo).
Great cases but not the best for stacking.
Should have sold by now bump.
Not quite "hated" but TBH I wasn't overly impressed by "School Days" at first, preferring "We supply" from the "Rocks, stones..." album.
The more I listen to it, the more I like it.
