IMO) EB SUB = Squier (and LOTS more) OLP = Jap Crap copies (IMO on a par with a Squier) STERLING by MusicMan = Squier Stands to reason..... Sterling wouldn't put his name to a bass if it wasn't worth the money. AND the name wasn't his choice.... more the distributors idea and insistance for the contract.

I've got two Chris and can't disagree with you more. My Blackburst is solid but a little heavy. However, the custom (with the wretched custom finish!!) is as light as a feather and plays like a beaut!!!!!! (have a few more!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!)

Hi Chris, Give Darren a shout at The Bass Merchant on Colchester. He'll discuss with Henrik at Sandberg and give you a price on a custom Cali. Sandbergs are built like tanks and have tone to die for. Both my Cali's also have a jazz profile neck. Active is switchable too! Jamie.

Thanks Escholl, It was just a tester to get the levels, all recorded on the one mic so it will sound a bit flat. We only had an hour too so not a lot of time to set the room up. Next time I'll close set the guitar with coincidents and adjust the eq when mastering, maybe adding a little 'Aphex' to it all and record the vocals separately in the booth. It was difficult to add the reverb to the lead vox as it would have 'mushed' the guitar up but give half a day to set things up and we'll go again.... watch this space!

He only came round for a tester and I made him thrash out a brand new bugger which he was struggling to remember the words of!!! It was written staright after his Dad passed away from Cancer last year and is the story of how his Mum & Dad met, fell in love and started a family watched them grow up and the anguish of losing him. Vey upbeat!! LOL!!!! Recorded with a Neumanns, lead vocal and acoustic six string.. touch of compression and boost on the mids for the vocal to carry. One backing vocal overdub with a smattering of delay. All very raw and unrehearsed and not really sure about the levels (does it clip at all?). Anyway, quite chuffed for a first attempt... spot Holty's Jamshes Bond impression halfway through!!!!! Any comments welcome. Ooh yes... please feel free to add on!

Done a virginal recording session today... a little acoustic turn. Will post in the recording section in a bit.

Last week I was waiting on a MOTU 2408 I/O interwossit for my studio. As the item had sat at £52 for three days I lined up a bid for £75 which I thought was reasonable (the last one I bought was £72 S/H). Just before I placed my bid with 15 seconds to go the price shot up to £142!!. The last bidder's top range was shoved right up by someone equally eager to get their hands on it. I did have a snigger and could imagine the fella's language!!!

Bought some speakers, an amp and a cd player of Lee. Rushed them out to me, considering he was under a 'little pressure' at the time. Good luck with it all mate! Top man!!

As you've come from a function band... how about 'BASIC FUNCTIONS'??? Personally, I love the fact that it also means 'autonomic bodily responses' ie: we're sh*t and the name reflects it!!

I once loaned my Son's godfather a twelve string acoustic to learn on..... two months later it's pegged on the wall of some pub (ala 'hard rock cafe' style) battered to buggery with only five strings. Let's just say HE was pegged on the wall until someone dragged me off!! (it was an De-Angelico!!!) My gear goes NOWHERE!!
