1. Years ago, when I was short of money, I sold my lovely Hohner Jack to a friend for £75. I really regret it now as it was a super bass. I tried to buy one a few years ago on eBay but the sale fell through. It only reached £180 which is a really good price as well so it irks me even more that they go for so much now. Don't think I could justify a replacement at the moment. About 10 years ago, again short for money, and frustrated at my lack of progress with it, I sold an Aria Pro II Cat fretless to a friend for £100 (much better) but I'm now regretting this as well as I'm wanting to try fretless again. Neither bass has really been replaced, but my Fender MIA jazz does pretty well tick all my fretted bass boxes so I can't complain. Still looking out for something to scratch that fretless itch, though, but I think I might go for fret lines instead of a plain neck this time ...
2. Can't wait to see the pics. You've got me interested 😀
3. What lovely looking bass. Looks amazing for 20 years old
4. Man that's perdy! Shame I ain't got the funds
5. Sooo tempted but there's no way I could afford such a thing of beauty! GLWTS
6. Just bought a loaded scratch plate from sellisnba and can't fault either the item or transaction. Good communication and speedy response. Got it within a couple of days that's over Christmas as well. Nice one Nige, many thanks
7. What a lovely looking bass. GLWTS
8. I'm so tempted. Got a USA Jazz in the same colour so I could have a matching pair. But I guess I should be sensible. GLWTS
9. I've got my strings now a set of fender 9050 45s so I'll put them on this weekend hopefully. They're going on a Hondo II p bass and I'm planning on doing a before and after recording to compare
10.
The only answer to this question is - ALL of them.
If I like them on the P I might just have to
11.
I've had flats and rounds on both my Jazz and Precision, and change my opinion quite a lot! If I had the money and space, I'd own two of each to have all options available - it's four very different sounds.
That's definitely the way to go. Part way there as have got another p body and neck. Now I've got the perfect reason to buy another jazz :-)
12.
what is it about the Ric you like?
It's the shape and feel of the Ricky that I like. Sound wise I became a bit disillusioned with it as I was after more bottom at the time. Not an issue now I've got more options with the other basses. It's resting at the moment and needs a bit of tlc in the form of a new jack
13. I thing in swayed to the P then, think I might give the jazz a miss as I do love the growl. Any opinion on the Ricky? What would out do to the slightly lacking low down punch?
14. I've heard a but about flats on a P bass and my first thought was to try this first but then wondered whether the wider done palate of a jazz might be a better bet. I'm not so sure of trying on the Ricky yet as the tuner configuration means i can't put them back on the 4 in line basses
15. First bass I had came with flats on it - a Kay. Took then off for a set of rounds and have never gone back. 34 years on I want to give them another go. My question is, what bass do I put them on? Choices are a J, a P or a Rick. What do you guys reckon and why?
16. I just bought a Fender CD60 acoustic guitar from Ade. Faultless comms, all went exactly as planned, it arrived by courier when promised and was very well packaged. Item just as described. Would highly recommend dealing with this basschatter.
17. Is this still available? I'm after something for my 17 year old daughter, or something for me so I can give mine to her . If it is I'll see what she thinks to the photos
18. The bottom one is a real beauty. Never really been into Yamahas but I could be persuaded ...
19. Y'all say what you think of me :-/
20. Bought a P bass neck from Mark. Good communication, did everything exactly as he promised, the next was great value and good quality, and he even refunded me some of the postage when he found out it was cheaper than estimated. A sound fellow and good to do business with
21. Had a Jack in the early 90s but sold out to a friend coz I needed the money. Regretted it ever since
