1. Could have been worse. Tiny stage. My playing was rubbish throughout; couldn't hear the guitars, which really doesn't help. I suspect they couldn't hear each other, either. Pretty much total absence of audience (weather-related, venue is a caravan park), so it was more of a rehearsal, and not a great one. But we did get paid Trick now is convincing them they should pay us again next month. Hmm.
2. missed it! If daz changes his mind, I'd like second dibs please
3. Link's not working for me.
4. I think you'd be better off starting separate threads for the other basses. With pictures
5. Tempting. I can't really afford it. Is this the 414 that belonged to deaver till recently, by any chance?
6. Can't afford it this month. Long shot next month. It won't be here by then, though.
7. But... remember you're auditioning them as well.
8.
This is also true... nothing improves your playing like being in a band. If you're the least able, you'll play up to everyone else's level and improve much more quickly than you would by playing against recordings.
I agree (being there, doing that
9. I think ThomBassmonkey is right. The name "Palmer" was not mentioned then, but I remember thinking "oh I've got a Palmer with a headstock like that". Two other names were mentioned, but I can't remember what they were.
iirc recently there was a thread by a guy asking the same question and his bass had the same headstock shape. I can't remember what the results were, maybe if you search you can find it
10. Okay, I have no way of knowing if this is accurate. Cory Doctorow is an honest man, AFAICT. So, if it's true, this is quite awful: http://boingboing.net/2012/01/04/paypal-if-you-dont-like-the.html
11.
Sold (Don't know how to fiddle with the headlines...)
Edit your original post; then click the 'Use Full Editor' button.

14. So who's now on the list? I was glad to read it but now it needs to go...
15. Bump. Currently in need of an E string. I'm considering Sandmanning it (two strings tuned a fifth apart and played with a slide and pick). Its tone would suit that.
16.
My daughter has a sixty quid Westfield P bass. Its a brilliant piece of kit and I'd be happy to gig it anytime if it wasn't PINK!
I want one
17. PMed (yesterday).
18. I'm not close enough to have a go, but it does look interesting. My thanks to the providers of wisdom
19.
Maybe we should add 'Rickenbacker' to the swear filter
That's really elegant
