1. Would you consider having a courier carry it? Glasgow is a bit far to pick up from
2. I've played with Ernie Ball Power Slinky's (55-110) for a long time now. My band plays half step down all the time and sometimes I need to tune to C# G# C# F# Thicker strings just work well for me, don't have a problem playing with them either. Didn't realise how few people (at least looking at this poll) used that gauge though!
3. Recently used a 4x10 combo with a 12 band equalizer (GP12?) at a gig. Poor on stage sound but when I was listening back to a video it was good and a few musicians in the crowd said the bass and drums were sounding amazing. Not sure if that's down to the FOH or just the distance from the amp but it was strange to say the least. One thing it didn't have a problem with was volume, that is a combo that screams.
4. Wish I was. Out of the country (and not even in Europe) from the 10th-19th so totally miss the Scottish date. I can see this being the last RHCP album, so unless they do festivals next year I doubt I'll get to see them. Annoying really, used to be a massive fan (still am just grew into other genres) and they were the first "rock" band I got into when I was younger, one of the reasons I picked up a bass too. Shame. Pretty sure it'll be Twin Atlantic and another band I love supporting in Glasgow too!
5. Maybe it's a storage issue, it's been quite muggy and humid up here and I find my strings don't last as long when it's not very dry. I've only had experience with Ernie Ball (slinky/regular and for the past year power) Slinkys lately but all the strings keep their "freshness" for a lot longer than that, and my bass is being gigged regularly. If it's not a nut/bridge/fretboard issue and you've not had it for long send an angry email and see if they'll send you a new pack out for free!
6. We all play Fender instruments in my band. I play a MIM Fender Precision, our singer plays a MIM Fender Tele and our lead plays a 50's reissue MIM Strat. When I first started playing bass our now lead guitar player influenced me buying a precision but I'm happy he did - I've not had to upgrade it since then, just upgraded the bridge and pickups. At a gig recently the sound engineer complimented us on how all our guitars/basses were really nice. The look is very important as well as tone, guess we're just lucky that we get both in our instruments. Most guitars in the Glasgow music scene I've seen are either Fenders or fender copies, dotted with a few Gibsons/Epiphones. But there is a lot more variety in basses, I'd say Fenders are mabye even the minority. Which is cool because it adds a bit of variety!
7. I think my MIM P bass is 2008, it's around that time anyway mabye a year or two earlier. I've got it in midnight wine. I've modded mine with a Gotoh 201 bridge and Seymour Duncan quarter pound pickups. Only changed the bridge because the stock bridge saddles eventually got wrecked, just a thought for the future!
8. Melissa Auf Der Maur! What a girl.
9. One bass and three guitars, that's blasphemy here right? Have the MIM Fender Precision I've had since the start, just ordered a Gotoh 201 bridge after my stock one decided to fail. Guitar wise I have an American Fender Tele 2010, it's an amazing guitar and the only electric I really play. I have an 80's BC Rich Warlock which I never play but though was cool when I was 14! And an acoustic Fender Sonoran to finish it off. Don't feel like I "need" another bass and I certainly have a lot of other things higher on my to buy list. But a Fender Jazz would be nice!
10. Bought a Musket V2 pedal for a good price and it arrived in perfect condition one day after the payment went through. Answered all my questions and even added a few tips for using it within a band setting, what more can you ask for? Trade with confidence!
11. Playing quite energetic alt rock to crowds roughly the same age I feel stupid if im not moving about! I practice playing while moving around, suddenly changing directions and trying to not stare at the fretboard. If you know your parts well enough and don't need to think I think you can move around a lot easier. I've nearly fell over more than once doing a little too ambitious jumps or clipping a monitor - guess it all depends how many pints you have. Obviously it depends on your genre and audience but I love seeing bands go mental, and if theres a dense enough crowd. Totally go for the stage dive Twin Atlantic - Audience and Audio
12. Just bought a Marshall Guv'Nor Plus pedal from Tom. Fantastic guy to deal with and sent the package out the morning after I sent the payment. First class so it arrived in time for my mates birthday. Couldn't recommend him enough, even threw in a patch cable because paypal decided to charge a fee! Top notch.
13. What's the mod on the CS-3 you've done/had done? Might be interested in the musket fuzz too, I'll look around and for sound clips. How much headroom does it have as far as quite growly distortion/fuzz for bass? Think along the lines of Smashing Pumpkins - The Everlasting Gaze or Brand New - Noro.
14. Just been informed of the drink promo's by the promoter and it's a lot better than most of the gig's I've been to! £2 for all the drinks below. Cans of Redstripe Cans of Corona Vodka+Mix Bulleit Bourbon+Mix Morgans+Mix
15. Cheers for the heads up on Talkbass, did manage to find a few soundclips and reviews on there. It's not really what I was hoping for, if I do buy it for guitar I can see some use for the bass but doubt it live. Still I'll try and get to MCM so I can try it out properly. Took away too much bass and wasn't really the tone I was hoping for in the soundclips on Talkbass. 16. Hey guys, I've been looking at overdrive and distortion pedals to add to my live pedal setup for my P bass. I've listened to some demo's on youtube and I think it'll sound ace with my American Telecaster but I've not been able to find any reviews with people using it with their bass. I love the idea of two separate foot switches so I could have my clean tone, a little gritty sound with the overdrive channel then a heavier distortion or blended when I need it. I think Merchant City Music in Glasgow stock them so I'll hopefully try one out next week but I was wondering if anyone here owns one and could help me out here. Seems a bargain for the price even if I just used it for the tele and recording in the band but I'd love to use it live. Still open to suggestions for other overdrive/distortion pedals for bass though, mostly I just need it for a little extra grit but I'd like to be able to push it as far as some of the tracks on Daisy Noro - Brand New http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JEdoJr5h5A Cheers!

18. Totally loving My Chemical Romance's new album, and the title. "Danger Days: The True Lives Of the Fabulous Killjoys" Nothing like any of their previous albums, and to be honest the further away from The Black Parade they get the better... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egG7fiE89IU I think it's a love/hate album, can't wait to get a copy on Tuesday to fire in my car! For careful driving in the snow of course....
19.
Still for Sale!
Will send you a PM a little later today, any idea how much the postage would be to Glasgow?
20. I assumed flat was noon on all the amp settings, gain on the bass full and tone middle(-ish the knob's fallen off so it's hard to gauge what middle is!) Still since it was a parametric EQ some of the settings confused me, too used to graphic EQ. He couldn't find the manual so I think finding that online would be a good place to start!
21. I tried the amp out today, must say the guy who owns it is such a nice guy and totally living the hipster dream. At first there was crackle coming from the cab but after he swapped the instrument cable for a speaker cable this went away. It was just my bass going into the head, no pedals through it first. Hopefully I'll be adding a Fender Sublime and a few other pedals into the fray soon. Anyway I was hoping if anyone who has used the HA4000 (Lozz + Doddy!) could tell me a rough EQ setting for the head or something that roughly worked for them. I was pretty much baffled by the settings when I tried it today and although I had a mess around I didn't really have that much time to experiment. Hopefully next time I go through I'll drive in at night and have more time to play, but do any of you lovely people have any advice about the EQ?
