This bass is in excellent condition. The spec is as follows. Alembic Europa 5 string bass Scale Length Long scale 34" Neck through design with maple and purpleheart construction Ebony fretboard Adjustable height brass nut Solid machined brass bridge with brass saddes mounted to a large brass sustain block Solid machined brass tailpiece. Top wood is Bocate Body is solid mahogany Headstock has a bocate laminate on front and back, with cast brass alembic logo on the front. Tuners are gold coloured. Pickups are alembic MXY low impedance pickups. The Europa controls are volume, pan, filter, Q switch, bass boost/cut switch, treble boost/cut switch. The quick tone switches are bass and treble and are not individual switches for the pickups. Each switch provides 6db boost, flat, and 6db cut. side mounted 1/4" mono jack (see image link) http://club.alembic.com/Images/16271/106010.jpg (Owners Manual) http://www.alembic.com/support/care.html The bass is a neck through design made from maple and purpleheart. Ebony There is an inlay of my initials in the 12th fret which was done by Jaydee custom guitars about 12 years or so ago plus and my name engraved on the truss rod cavity which i may be able to remove if if is a deal breaker or the buyer can just reverse it. The switches are mounted on chrome plated washers as a few years i installed some East ACG filter based electronics which required enlarging the existing switch holes to fit the filter controls. The original electronics have been back in the bass for ages now but I had to get larger washers mount the original switches. If I can find some black washers I will install those instead. The back control cavity cover is gold plated and was like that when i bought the bass. What else can I say. Well it is a great sounding bass and i am only selling it because it is not getting enough playing time so i'd rather it went to someone who will give it more attention. Send me a PM if interested. I have an original case for it also. Some information from the Alembic web site. EUROPA With its elegant and understated form, the Europa bass is the type of instrument you return to again and again, and each time you're reminded of why you love this bass so much. From the moment you wear it on strap, comfort and balance greet you. Plugging into the side mounted jack gives a satifying "kerchunk" in response. Once your amp warms up, the tone that piqued your interest in the first place comes flowing back. This bass is home. Quick tone change switches give instant access to useful on-the-fly sounds. When you're ready to take that solo, you can simply flick the bass and treble switches to the boost position, knowing full well that when you're finished, that original sound is just a click away. The Europa comes standard with Alembic's classic Maple and Purpleheart neck lamination pattern. This engineered beam supports even response across the Ebony fingerboard, and assures that snappy Alembic brilliance will be delivered at every note. Like most Alembic basses, Europas are quite happy in a variety of musical settings. Turn the low-pass filters down to 300Hz for deep tones suitable for blues. Turned up to 6KHz, there's plenty of zing for slap or driving rock technique with a pick. Versatility puts the tone control in your heart and your hands. Since each Europa bass is handcrafted right in our one-and-only shop in Santa Rosa, California, you are able to custom order any aspect of the bass. Custom fingerboard dimensions, wood choices, decorative details, or even things not yet invented are possible. More information Here are some soundcloud clips from a rehearsal with this bass. This is an amazing sounding bass and I have used it on numerous gigs though in recent years I have used it less and less as I have been using my two filter bass more. I would love this bass to go to someone who can get more use out of it than I can. I would prefer not to post it if at all possible and if you want to try before you buy, i can arrange that in my mate's studio so you can hear it at full bore.

I saw a band down at Alfie's in Soho on Saturday night and there was an absolutely superb band i'd never heard of before called "Happy Garden". All the band members were effortlessly brilliant and they worked so well together as a unit and when soloing. I plan to see them again asap even though it was a long trip down to London, on the train, and an overnight in a hotel. It was worth every penny. The bass player was great, really responsive to what was going on and really held the sound together, plus his bass sounded awesome and used effects tastefully. No idea what the bass was though.

I watched it last night. Excellent insight to the legend. Thanks for sharing. If you want to watch it without the ads put a - between the "t" and "u" in the youtube like this yout-ube and you will see the video without the ads. Works on all youtube videos i've tried. Sometimes it gives an error message , but just refresh the browser window and is ok. You can thank me later 🤓😎

Just throwing it in there. Alembic cases are not the same for all models even after excluding the models you suggest. They are different depending on the bass. Short, medium, long short scale, 4,5,6 string, or body shape. There is no way a classic large body or MK signature is getting in that case. To avoid issues, i would suggest listing the basses you know for certain would fit that case and reword the listing.👍🏾

"My Overcomplicated Bi-amp Rig" or "How I Leaned to Love the Boom"
jazzyvee replied to FugaziBomb's topic in Amps and Cabs
This was my bi-amp setup. Mine is based around the sending each pickup to it's own cab. Neck to the Dubster II and the neck to the Big Baby II. The rack consists of an Alembic In2 which is a both a power supply for my bass plus it is a switching unit that allows each pickup to be sent to speakers via a in a number of permutations through pre and power amp(s). It has 2 Alembic F-1X preamps which have a separate channel of the Alembic SF-2 Superfilter in their send return loop. The SF-2 has independant Low, High and band pass filters for each channel. I haven't used that setup many times so not really got an optimal setup worked out, but potentially it should work fine. I have since replaced the two F-1X preamps with a single Alembic F-2B two channel preamp which to me sounds slightly warmer. I tried the setup more with a BTII instead of the Dubster and that seemed to be a better match. More experimenting to do. -
I bought a 20m length in a black plastic box that you just pull out a strip and cut off from B&Q about 3 years or so back when I was building my guitar pedal board. I don't remember the cost but it wasn't expensive at all. It is really heavy duty though and I've used lengths of it to fix led solar lights to the outside of my house.. Might be worth looking for some there. The brand was Diall and whilst their web site does not seem to be showing the one i bought but there are a number to choose from.

Only on alembic series basses.😃 -
Allison Rayner Quintet at the Albany Jazz club in Coventry. They were just brilliant. Superb musicians and jazz rich in harmony and multiple time signatures but still grooving along. `Steve Lodder on keyboards was astonishing! Next gig will be the Santana Tribute band called "Very Santana".

Jaydee are across town from me and i’ve taken my basses and guitars there for many years. I know his sons have been working there for many years with John so I would be inclined to think they are more than capable of keeping up the standard set by John. That said there is lots to be said about age and experience. John’s designs, ideas and building methods were developed over many decades and no doubt will continue to evolve over time sons. So it would be interesting to see if the sons stick to his classic designs or come out with new models in the future. I have yet to own a Jaydee and there is a part of me that wants to but i’d prefer something different from the classics.

Belated Post, if that's allowed 🙂 I went to see the Allison Rayner Quintet yesterday in Coventry. Absolutely brilliant. I've seen them once before and they have a great sound and the compositions are so intricate whilst being easy to listen to. Got their latest live album and bought the T-shirt.

What's the middle pickup and how does it switched into use with the rest of the controls? -
Good to hear as i'm considering getting a new nas from them. I had a DS918+ that got trashed due to being supplied with a disk that failed because it had incompatible firmware. I'm looking for the latest new version which is looking like a DS924 or 925 whatever gets released.

I have this bass with two sets of p-style pickups and put D'addario Chrome flats on it about 18 months ago. I have to say i still don't think the flats are my thing. These strings are real stiff and i don't like the smooth feel too much. That said it's the only bass i have with flats so I've been learning basslines that sound like they were played on a p-bass. Steely Dan, Doobies, and the Crusaders and that sound works. Not had the chance to gig or record with flats yet, but that will seal the fate.

I did watch out of curiosity to see what it went for

Can anything else be done for a heavy bass?
jazzyvee replied to Iheartreverb's topic in Bass Guitars
I have changed all my straps for 4" wide nicely padded Pinegrove Leather ones. I had some custom ones made and they are superb. ( Full disclosure, i'm an endorsee, so if that breaks any BC for posting, feel free to remove the post). -
Can anything else be done for a heavy bass?
jazzyvee replied to Iheartreverb's topic in Bass Guitars
That's what i would do if my bass got to feel too heavy for me rather than sell it. It's rare for me to do a single set on a gig that is longer than about an hour and a quarter so whilst my basses are all heavy they do not give me any trouble at the moment.
