The cab tuning is to do with the length and area of the ports, its gives a bump in the response at that frequency, you aim to have that bump where there is already a drop off in the natural response of the cab.

Don't be associating speaker size and sound. It's not looked upon kindly. The midrange probably doesn't go high enough to make distressing sound with fuzz/distortion so its probably safe if you have some EQ available.

Find a black piano key and use stick pads to stick it you your bass in the appropriate neckwards postion.

Don't think going 4 ohm would make enough difference to be worth the change. The Sica drivers are kind of lame though, so upgrading for moe power handling and sensitivity is more viable. Is it a sealed or ported cab? Makes a fairly huge difference in driver choice. I just stuck a spare Delta 12 in my EB combo and it is a definite improvement. Also, check the Barefaced forum section, lots of info relevant there.

I've got a warlock body that needs doing, was gonna brave the boy racers at the respray place.

'Master' probably just controls what is coming out of the preamp. some work like that, some don't, the master on my Ashdown EB150 still controls volume if I go FX in.

[/quote] You could cheerfully play a low F# into it though, probably not set with any bass boost, and it won't go super loud, but you'll probably be able to hear its a low F#.

Mostly its the preamp voicing that's different, guitar amps tend to have less head room also. You could fiddle with the preamp to make it bass. You also need to run bass speakers if you want any bottom, if not, don'[t fiddle with the preamp either. Wouldn't bother with a combo, score an old head and get it fixed up. I'd guess a peavey windsor with some fiddling would do ya, kinda Peavey budget take on an old single channel head. Probably best is score an old no-name valve amp and use that, a PA one would be cheap.

It is to match it up with the output rating of whatever you are feeding it. Should have a rated output on whatever is going in, I noticed bass preamps are about 1 volt. More and you could clip more easily, less and you might not be getting full potential.

If they are both the same impedance, they'll get the same power from the amp, but one might be a whole lot louder, whilst the other one might be struggling with the power, and you won't hear it being upset over the greater volume of the louder cab, so you break one (done with with the classic 1x15 and 4x10 + lots of distortion). Also, at certain frequencies, they might end up canceling each other instead of reinforcing, so make a hole in that frequency, ending up with a totally different sound to either cab, although you'll still be louder overall. Edit: Also, I think the Big one is more for high powered SS amps than valve ones, the Vintage is for valves, takes less power to get loud, Big one is for epic bottom with lots of power.

A mini mixer will put the signal back together. I have one that is large pedal sized made by Monacor.

I put a jazz put against the neck on a p bass, is bottomy and thumpy, but combined with the P it cancels out some low mids. I like on its own.

Crossover and mixer will do it. Probably a simpler way though. Got a Lomenzo hyperdrive and figure how it does it.

Pretty much everything someone says 'check this great bass playing/sound' I go 'yeah, that sounds cool'. Then I go and put some music on to listen to and you can heardly hear the bass unless you really listen for it, which I don't, cause I'm listening to the music.

I think the Sonic Maximiser only affects highs. The Aphex Xciter with Big Bottom might be better for bass.

I like the Cubes as practice amps. Ain't tried the Micro though.
