  1. And Tom Araya calling the bingo in the church hall on a Wednesday evening "Monarch to the kingdom of the dead; number 42. That's monarch to the kingdom of the dead; number 42."
  2. Gridlink - Amber Gray 11 tracks in 11:47. Not so fancy for a grindcore album. But when they manage to cram in about 30 minutes worth of material into that? Good lord! If you like it fast and heavy, please check it out! It will make all yer Slayers and Deicides look like village vicars...
  3. Gotoh 404 is 5 hole, as I recall. May not be an exact Fender fit (although I believe it is) but it is my favourite bridge. Slot loading and the saddles are very comfy for palm muting!
  4. For your consideration today, I have some wonderful but woefully underutilised pedals that I'm releasing back into the wild. It feels good to let these little ones move from the foster home to the forever home but as always this is tinged with sadness! Meris Mercury7 - £235 An extremely charming little chap, can take you from understated plates to the depths of outer space! A seriously, seriously capable reverb. Also included (if you set the pedal accordingly) is a quality slow gear, warbly chorus and some pitch shifting. Talk about VFM! Meris Polymoon - £235 The Mercury7's oft-overlooked sibling! Mental delays lie in wait within this tiny box! You can flange, you can phase, you can even get just a lovely clean digital repeat should you be so inclined. If you connect the two Meris (Meri?) together you can become an instant ambient artiste, which is a nice bonus! Iron Ether FMeron - £175 *SOLD* What a saucy little blighter this pedal is! The long-suffering Mrs. Bandit commented that this pedal made my bass sound "like a ghost or a hacked-off alien". I feel no greater endorsement is required... Iron Ether Polytope - £135 *SOLD* A lovely wobbly chorus. Or a full-on, in your face old school detuned rave attack; the choice is yours!!
  5. Maybe they're finally doing the big box pitchshifter that people have been begging them to do for the last decade. That would actually be really cool, thinking about it. My Pitchfactor could do with a friend!
  6. Not a scholar by any means but I believe effector 13 were a company that collaborated / licenced some of Devi's designs? So, better build quality but same, shall we say esoteric circuitry? If you really want a deep dive, ilovefuzz.com was originally started by Devi and would probably be the best source of information.
  7. Is there perhaps not an issue with what music we are looking for? To not want "re-heated jazz funk" in searching for the new Beatles seems ironic. The Beatles are gone forever. There is no new Pink Floyd, they are also gone. There will be no equivalent because they were entirely of their time and environment. A group of young men wanting to hold your hand in 2020 would be sickeningly twee at best. So we have to ask ourselves: do I want actual new music or do I want a fresh version of old music? There will be groups that are roughly in line with an influential group but nobody is going to write 'Money' a second time. There is absolutely new and exciting music being made all over the world and it's easier to find than ever. That said, it isn't easy if that makes sense? It will require looking for but the internet is far easier to navigate than the old ways! But there will also be bands that churn out imitations of their forebears, so there really is something for everybody!
  8. We all know the drill, too many bridges - not enough basses! First up is a Gotoh OEM style bridge in chrome. 19mm string spacing, 5 fixing holes. Comes with screws!! -£25 posted *SOLD* Next up is a Leo Quan Badass III in chrome. 19mm spacing again but with extra grooves for your spacing pleasure. Also comes with screws!! - £55 posted *SOLD* Both bridges have been fitted and used but are in very good to excellent condition, depending on your assessment of such things.
  9. Multiwave Distortion - £60 posted *SOLD* Manta Filter - £60 posted *SOLD* These funky little fellows just aren't seeing the use they used to now that moody C4 arrived, so it's probably fairest to try and rehome these loving little scamps! Can go to seperate homes but if you can't bear the thought of breaking this little family up then I would be able to do a "charitable adopter" discount of £110 posted for the two! Oh, the Manta has velcro while the Multiwave does not but you'll notice I've not upcharged for that. Generous to a fault, I am.
  10. You can't have too many straps, right? I'm searching for a one strap solution so I don't have to faff around with worrying if my strap matches my bass, amongst other things! Levy M4GF 3.5" strap in Dark Brown - £30 posted Levy MSS2S-BRN 2.5" strap in a lighter brown - £35 posted Mono Betty (Long) in black - £25 posted *SOLD* Straps are in good working order, they have little bit of wear around the holes but don't we all?
  11. I had a Stingray 4H 3 band that I foolishly sold for far too cheap because it weighed a ton and I thought I wanted something 'fancier' electronically. I also possibly convinced myself that the g was quiet due to recieved internet wisdom. Listening back to recordings, it doesn't seem as bad as I felt it was at the time. Didn't deep dive into amp eq's or anything either. Probably should have held onto it but we all have to learn lessons somewhere, right? Flash forward and I have a lovely Big Al 5H which doesn't suffer from any quietness at all!
  12. @CameronJ oh, for sure! It would be more to see if a shorter Betty would do the job better than the leather strap I also have then off come the ties and flog it here!
  13. That's very interesting as I currently own a Betty although unfortunately it is too long for me. If the Gruv is more of a sideways move rather than a step up I may crack out some cable ties and have a play before splashing out on a short Betty! The shoulder grip isn't too much of an issue for me, a little movement can actually be beneficial sometimes. Thanks for the reply, most illuminating!
  14. Slight hijack but in terms of ergonomic/"weight-relieving" straps would this compare favourably to the Mono Betty, if you have had experience of it? Looking for hopefully a one strap solution that will do 4, 5 strings and even a (gasp!) Les Paul type skinny stringer...
  15. Ah, I did not know that the time frame was that limited, that does paint a fairly different picture! With that qualification then, the 17.5mm (?) spacing doesn't seem to have hurt sales of their 5 stringers historically. I know I find my Big Al 5 super comfy, personally. I suppose my point would be they've always erred on a tighter spacing?
  16. You know what, I'm going to do a bit of a 180 on this. Super slim 6 string neck - great idea! EB offered to do a run of 19mm SR5s and they didn't get enough interest which would suggest that small string spacings are what would sell. Super sleek look - quite like it now. The Bongo is quite a minimalist design anyway so trimming the control-fat simply leans a little heavier into this. So yeah, not for me but then my name isn't on the headstock! I think this will probably end up quite popular with the proggers whose Darkglass preamps will allow them to tweak where they can't on the bass.
  17. A similar rue-ing happening here too. I get rid of stuff I haven't used in a little while and soon after the use suddenly pops up! Maybe it's best to just give in and pedal hoard. Hey, it's probably cheaper than photography...
  18. I have a bass with a Gotoh BBOT style bridge. I feel it is superior to other BBOTs I have had in the past, to the point that I have kept it on for years despite really not liking that style of bridge. Not massively helpful, I know but my vote would be for the Gotoh at any rate.
  19. Oooh, tasty! The Mkii was one of my favourite octavers (an oct-faver if you will?) and even if this is just a mini rehouse, it would be worth further investigation!
  20. I understand that a lot of people like to set and forget / lean towards a less cluttered or 'purer' signal path and I think it's cool that Ernie Ball is daring to do something different, when larger manufacturers are gazing ever deeper into the navel. I would also prefer to access the preamp if it's there, maybe have all the detents on the knobs set to John's preferred setting? But this is all just chewing the fat as the likelihood of me buying this bass is extremely small indeed!
  21. Well, you got yourself a new sub off of that! I really like the way you got a good range of usage out of it too, that dissonant section was very cool! As much as I enjoy Knob's videos, it's nice to see a reviewer not make every pedal sound the same. The only thing I didn't like was seeing the clips of movies that I couldn't identify before the next one came along but that's just the film nerd in me!
