Weddings
We're a slightly rockier modern covers band and we get plenty of weddings. People who are getting married now are (mostly) the younger generation, IMO they don't want WetWetWet and Robson & Jerome. We're doing a wedding in August where we've been asked if we can do some Rage Against The Machine........oh yesss Si
We just keep getting weddings, and to be honest, we don't want to do them, but the money's too good to turn away. We're doing Muse, Foos, Stereophonics, U2, Chillis, and we keep telling people we're not wedding music, but they keep booking us. I just get fed up with looking into the audience and seeing pensioners with fingers in thier ears, and children sliding across the dance floor on thier knees, while we're halfway through My Iron Lung by Radiohead. It's bizarre.
2. I ended up using my Marcus live in passive mode, it sounded fantastic. In the end, I've traded it out in favour of a Geddy, which is basically the same bass without the preamp. Both models, to me, are just brilliant basses. Love that P.
3. I'm interested too, as I was searching for the EBS, now I'm not so sure!!
4. My brother had a Hondo Les Paul in the late 70s, it was a great guitar, with DiMarzio super distortion pickups if I remember correctly. Played like a dream. I was in a metal band in th 80s with a guy who also used one as his main guitar, it sounded just stunning. While the rest of us fannied about with vintage strats and precisions, Chris ripped it up with his Hondo and killed the lot of us, he was an awesome player. That Hondo P looks great to me, and at 50 quid? cool.
5.
It's Dave's Russ - I'm thinking of doing the same mod to mine.
THAT Dave, is a stunning looking bass guitar. Can't wait to hear Alans' live.
6. Very very very nice indeed. Messa just looks the bomb doesn't it? It bet it sound immense.

8. THAT Alan, is a stunning looking bass guitar. Can't wait to hear it live.
9. New pic taken on my phone so it's not great:
10. ...........and I see your EQ is set flat, I must take note . Bargain cab for that price. I'd have it myself, but I've already got one!
11. My BB3000S was a stunner, I should never have let that one go.
12.
I'm chuffed to hear you haven't jacked Russ - nice rig mate PS - still owe you some money mate.
Don't leave the country . Nah, I've tried to call it a day before, and failed, I love playing too much. It's been a very frustrating time for the band though, for a number of reasons. Hopefully back on track now.
13. OK, I no longer need the cash particularly, so trades considered. 4 stringers only please, Warwicks (Not Rockbass) of particular interest. Also I need some effects, so anything along those lines considered too.
14. Superb basses, I've often thought about getting one. Peter (Greeneking) has a beautiful white one, I think the non export version, which he's thinking of letting go if you're interested. It's a stunning bass, and I can't afford it.
15. What a great bass that is, bugger, I'd have had it off you a week ago. I've had a few 70s/80s BBs, and they've all been superb. This is the better Japanese one, and well worth that price, and then some.
16.
Ha ha Markbass and Neo next then
17.
That's good to hear - how did it sound (when it was working) ped
It sounded great, but different to the Roland. The Roland was very bright and punchy, with some low end bringing up the rear. The Trace sounds totally different. I expected quite a bright tone, but it was quite low and thumpy in the mix. Obviously the 1x15 will make it bigger at the bottom, and that's exactly what I wanted, so I guess I need to find a simillar tone to the Roland from the 2x10 if I can, with some thump from the 1x15. It'll take some serious fiddling to achieve I reckon. Anyway, yes, It sounded very big, and very clear, with lots of bottom end, so aside from the fault, I'm happy with it so far. But 2 flights of stairs to the rehearsal room, with that combo....................groan .
18.
Phew .. best make sure you use a PCB and steer clear of mics at your gigs 'til you can get it checked out ..
Lol, yeah, I'll get it serviced at some point, but I'm confident it's OK now, it was a fairly simple repair in the end.
19. Fixed. I had the amp out this morning and found the offending loose wire that was shorting out. One soldering iron and a roll of solder (no, not ALL of it) later, the amp is working perfectly, touch wood.
20. Thanks Mike. I'll wait and see what the fella I bought it from says, I have an awful feeling he's going to asume it's now my problem.
21. Well it's a disapointing end to the day. I rehearsed with the rig tonight, and after only a couple of songs it cut out on me. While turning the amp around to look at the back, sparks and flashes started to appear under the amp, in the gap between the amp and the top of the speaker. A few seconds later it came back on and sounded fine again. This happened three times during the rehearsal. A dry joint in the solder somewhere? Don't know, and I wouldn't know where to start getting it fixed. I've got gigs coming up, and now I have a rig that might let me down. I'm feeling very deflated .
22.
mmmmmmmm Trace goodness! How much did it set you back, if you don't mind the asking!
£400 on the nose. Nice bloke and a nice gaff it came from too. It's a good looker for its age that's for sure. Yep, love the Geddy Lee, Lee, nice low action, in fact I might raise it a tad, all polished up with new strings etc.
23. Plenty of PMs but no takers yet, one offer just fallen through, still here.
24. Yes indeed, can't wait for Monday. Thanks for that Dave. Yes it'll take me a while to find the right sound with it, I tend to find the sound I like and just stick with it throughout the set, changing the tone on the bass rather than the amp if needs be. So I fully intend to spend quite some time with the graphic, never had one on an amp before. As I'm guessing it's quite a bright sound from the Trace, like the Roland is, I'll probably lean it in a bottom end direction initially, again like the Roland, and I'll find a nice tone to get me started. Then I'll tweak it over time. I don't use effects at all, just bass, cord, amp. Simple. So finding "My" sound on the amp will be important. If I can find anything like the one I get from the Roland, but with a little more headroom, I'll be a very happy chap.
25. I can't believe this hasn't sold already. Superb bass.
