  1. Show us yours….. Here’s ours tonight….
  2. An hour was always my limit, if it was worth the effort for a good band and good music. I’m lucky though, we all live in the same town more or less. So rehearsals are 5 minutes away.
  3. Not sure yet about the active addition, I’ll know more after tonight’s gig.
  4. Nice basses sir. Yes this Greco I have here is a very cool bass indeed. Very old school vibes, beautifully made…. what I didn’t know was that the previous owner has stuck an active Bartollini circuit in it, with a concentric pan/tone control. I didn’t know that was there until I picked it up. At this point I don’t know how I feel about it, other than the bass sounds incredible, and the output is ridiculous. There’s a little trim pot in there that I had to turn right down because it was driving the amp too hard. It’s had a full clean and setup with new strings, and plays great. Gig tonight, and I only plan on taking the one bass, so I’ll report back tomorrow.
  5. I saw Ian McNab use one with the Icicle Works back in the 80s… I always fancied one after that…. but I’m thinking the cons outweigh the pros on reflection.
  6. Forgot to say…. BIG shout out to ‘James Home Of Tone’ for his fantastic pre wired harnesses…. absolutely my first stop before thinking about spending hundreds on new pickups.
  7. Have you never seen Nils Lofgren bouncing off trampolines on the stage? I wanna do that. While looking like Janet Jackson (I’m a middle aged white man).
  8. As the lead singer and bass player of the band, I’ve often wondered about a headset microphone instead of our usual SM58s on a stand. Anybody do this? Any good? Any recommendations? Am I stuck in the 80s?
  9. Agree with the above… nice basses in their own right, but as the owner of a few German examples, in my experience the RB range are a very different proposition. A little bit uninspiring tonally, but hey, they’re not cheap basses, they’re well made from the ones I’ve tried.
  10. Well, joining in with this resurrected thread.... I assume the upshot of the OP was that they gave up and looked no further. All I can add, is that my Chinese Tokai TB is my absolute number one bass. The Warwicks barely leave their cases at the moment, awesome as they are. In my case, I have to admit, that mine is heavily modded (thread in the build diary section), however the wooden bits and more importantly the pickups are stock. I changed everything else, and the result is my number one, that's as good as any Gibsons I personally have played. I find it very comfortable indeed to play and it sounds incredible, albeit with an "upgraded" wiring harness coupled with the stock pickups. Another example, again in my own personal experience, of upgrading the pots etc first, before spending a load on new pickups. Often the stock pickups are absolutely fine hooked up to a decent harness. That's what I have found anyway. Same with my Sunn P basses. The first thing people do is rip out those "cheap" off white pickups and bin them. Big error. They sound incredible with a good harness put in instead. They're just magnets that's all. So, I ended up buying two more 'birds, a Tokai and a Greco. The Tokai will get the same treatment as my first one, and I'm sure it'll be awesome. Horses for courses. I love 'birds, they work for me, and someday I hope to find a Gibson that's worth buying, but for now it's Tokai all the way.
  11. Left to right….. Tokai, Greco, Tokai. I absolutely love my black Tokai to bits… so much so, that I bought a white one today, and a sunburst 1990 Greco yesterday. The Greco will have its proper truss rod cover back on soon. Bring on the gigs. 🤘🏻
  12. Just down the road from us…. Myself and Mrs Rayman will be going to take a look. To be honest, we’d rather be going to see the one in the Rainbow in LA, but…. y’know….
  13. Very nice. I do love me a Warwick.
  14. Next up, my absolutely lovely Newport… Such a pleasure to play and virtually untouched really, I just haven’t bonded with it, because it doesn’t fit in with my band. It’s basically new. Mods…. Gotoh GB707 tuners, beautiful hand cut brass nut, CTS pots are now Vol,Vol,Tone. It’s a beast. If you want sub dub low end, this is yer boy. Brand New Flats, oiled fretboard…. It just isn’t being played, and I’m saving up for a Thunderbird. Check that beautiful brass nut out, handmade by Steve Robinson in Manchester. A totally beautiful bass. I’ve spent too much on it….. so you don’t have to. Gator bag included 🤙🏻
  15. Price drop to £225. I’m officially saving up for a Thunderbird 🤘🏻
  16. Really fantastic basses, I had an identical one until a few months ago (I’m assuming that this isn’t it). A pleasure to play and a great company to deal with.
  17. Awesome bass, and Steve is a top chap.
  18. Great gig at 33 bar in Manchester. Despite feeling like death warmed up with a nasty bug, it was a lot of fun. The first outing for the TC rig…. Absolutely delighted with it, awesome sound, very loud (the sound guy made me turn it way down), very happy with it.
  19. I went with the red pickup covers because that was Franks Preference on his signature ESPs. I really liked that. The black hardware was a no brainier. No idea why Squier didn’t do that as stock. It looks so much better.
  20. Think I’ll keep this. I gigged it last night and it was really awesome.
  21. Time to get rid of a couple of my beloved Arias. I just have too much gear and not enough room. So no trades sorry. Fabulous bass, Made in Korea, lovely neck, outstanding pickups. It bears a few scars due to its age, but I’ve taken a lot of care to clean set it up with new strings. Fretboard has been oiled. Brand new Gotoh 707 tuners on this one Awesome thing for not much money, I travel far and wide with work, so the price includes getting it to you, within reason….. if you’re in Cornwall or Aberdeen for example that’s a different story. Anyway, there’s this one and another one also for sale, I'll do them both for a couple of tons.

This one is missing one of the back of the original Aria tuners, but that has no bearing on the performance. 23. That’s a very difficult question to answer. Awesome bass though. Pics?
