1. Sliding up is dead easy, you slide the harmonic from just behind the nut (Fred Baker taught me that one), I never asked how to slide them down though...
2. Actually I've just thought of my worst purchase. I had a Barefaced Big One, probably the shortest amount of time I've kept a cab. Not particularly practical, didn't sound great and when it came to gigging it and competing with drummers, I really had to push the amp to get any meaningful level. Was glad to see the back of that one.
3. Oh, I'll add my MarkBass CMD121p to the best purchases list too, bloody great for pubs and functions, and when I don't wanna take the big car, I can get my gig rig in the boot of my mum's Yaris Hybrid which probably has the tiniest boot known to man!
4. Nightmare post for me haha. I've bought erm, a lot! Top three purchases: My new Aguilar SL410x / AG700 rig (endorsement deal sweetened that, too!), my Ultimate Ears UE11 Pro come a very close second, followed by my Fender Jazz Elite V Most pointless purchase: Probably having my Pedaltrain recoated in piano black with purple glitter (my IEMs match it). A totally pointless exercise, but it looks cool XD Most underrated purchase: Cioks DC10, it's fantastic and I need a power supply that won't let me down on the road, but it's one that you forget how important it is. Especially as it's mounted under the board and all I occasionally see of it is the pulsing LED light it has. Worst purchase: A £100 Warwick Rockcase for my Alien acoustic. Best option I could find as the likes of Hiscox don't do cases for acoustic basses, and let's say it's really struggling with life on the road! It's already missing a foot and the covering has various marks / tears, and I'm pretty careful with gear... It's sh*te!
5. Sold some Mesa cabs to Phil, top guy to deal with. Came down to one of my shows and did the deal afterwards. Thoroughly nice guy with great comms and a pleasure to deal with!
6. Haha it's cool, I understand the perils of forums on phones. Spent many an hour looking for people's feedback threads in their sigs on my phone and wondering why I couldn't see it half the time!
7. Well, I play for various people but my main gig at the moment is in my sig
8. As it says in the title really. Used it to house my old bass amp, less than a year old. Had it custom made as Swan like to put the handles on the lids, so I requested two on the sides instead. Rack strip only at the front of the case, very well built and good condition. Naturally has some scratches from use but all intact with no chips or dents. 30cm deep, picture of it next to a normal depth rack case to give an idea of size. £80 in North Manchester, can post at buyers' expense. 9. Not had this too long as bought it for a backup to my Jazz, but I've decided to keep the Infinity and I'd make too much of a loss on the Jazz, so this one's godda go sadly. Made in 2006, so has a fantastic slim and fast neck. When I picked it up, I was informed that it was owned by a collector who bought it over from America and as a result it has very little (if any) fret wear on it, and I've not really used it much since either! Overall, it's in great condition though there are a couple of little chips on the body, the mark to make a note of is on the front and was bought like this, which is a crack in the lacquer, resulting in the lacquer to lift and there's a chip one side of it. I've checked over it properly and there's absolutely no damage to the wood underneath, so it's purely cosmetic! It comes with it's original hard case, there are some MusicMan tags in there but I've not paid much attention, as the case has lived under my bed whilst I'm on the road as I only trust Hiscox cases - so it's been looked after. It's got Dunlop straplock buttons fitted, a pretty new set of Fodera strings too. Being an HH, you've got two pickups and a 5 position selector switch, so there's a HUGE variety in tone available. It's also pretty light to be honest as well. Not got an exact weight but can get one if you'd like. Based in North Manchester, cash on collection is preferred, but I'll happily ship it anywhere in the world on the proviso that it will be packaged properly, and it has to be sent tracked and insured. I've never had issue shipping like this, ever - see my feedback in the sig £1300 takes it, though I'm open to offers. NO TRADES please. 10. Oh yeah you still have to pay with an endorsement deal, but there's a very nice / helpful discount
11. Can't beat new gear week can ya? Actually took delivery of this last week, but the day after delivery I was straight on the road for a 4 night run again. I'm very fortunately to have been offered an endorsement deal, which I would have been silly to have not taken, so here's my new Aguilar AG700 / SL410x rig! I'm absolutely astonished (as is the sound engineer, the main singer who's show it is and the band leader) and just how good this rig sounds! I was running a big Mesa rig before which sounded incredible, but how on earth Aguilar have managed to make something so light sound so heavy, I've no idea! The 4x10 cab and head together weighs less than just one of my old Mesa 2x10s, and it's a much sound too. Very happy with this! 12. Thanks for the info, I'll check it out with the Aria owners group. I was sold it as an SB Elite so naturally that's what you believe it is. Either way it's still a fair price.
13. That's a shame. This one is DEFINITELY Japanese. And has it written on.
14. New price and photos bump after Photobucket ruined so many people's threads!
15. Selling both my Mesa Powerhouse 2x10 cabs, from 2002 and 2016. The early one has removable castors and is 600 watts RMS power handling, the new one is 400. Both come with matching Roqsolid covers. Great condition, the older one has a few more age related marks but nothing to write home about. There's no tolex missing or chunks out of it, just some minor scuffing to the corner protectors on both cabs. They sound incredible but they're not the lightest of things. But, both fit in the boot of an estate car without any hassle! If you're really desperate / stupid, they'll go in a Fiesta sized car (I've tried) Been gigging them 4 times a week on average and they've never let me down or had issue, and since March they've had a pretty easy ride as we're all on IEMs and the sound engineer has kittens if I dare turn the level up too much! Only reason for sale is due to new amp endorsement, otherwise I'd be keeping them, but having 4 bass rigs is a tad excessive! Offers from £700 takes them, I need to shift them quick for space purposes (more likely reason - so I don't choose to keep them) - Take note that a NEW one of these (in 400 watts) is just over £1k, so look at it this way, you're effectively getting a massive discount anyway as it's almost immaculate and has £80+ worth of covers for free, and you get the 600w cab for free Collection from Rochdale, North Manchester is preferred, but current gig takes me all over the UK on a weekly basis so I can potentially bring them to you! Worst case scenario, I do have the facility to courier them. IMG_6715 by Dave Butterworth, on Flickr IMG_6717 by Dave Butterworth, on Flickr IMG_6718 by Dave Butterworth, on Flickr IMG_6719 by Dave Butterworth, on Flickr IMG_6720 by Dave Butterworth, on Flickr
16. Yeah they overheat and give up. They've no cooling, and are surrounded by that lovely body. I only ever overheated mine once, and I very quickly realised that you can actually take the amp itself out of that body. I did that, put some rubber feet on it to air circulation and that helped. One of the issues is, is that it's got two 250 watt amps which deliver that at 4ohm - they don't bridge. That means if you stick two 8 ohm cabs into it, you're still pushing it hard for any meaningful level as it's only delivering probably 100 and something watts a channel.
17. Hey guys, I tend not to post much about my gigs on here, if anything to be honest, but, knowing that Deon Estus' bass lines are somewhat legendary - I thought it might be worth posting about the gig on here! Been playing for this show from the start, and I'm not one to big myself up or anything like that, so I'll just let the reviews do the talking For all I know, some of you may have already seen it. We're 26 dates into the tour so far and there are over 180 dates already I believe. Facebook linky here which is regularly updated with when tickets etc go on sale! https://www.facebook.com/faithgmlegacy/ https://www.faithgeorgemichael.com
18. Whilst it's unfortunate and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, it really does frustrate me that bands relying on this for their living aren't insured. I'm on the road at the moment and will be for quite a while, and ALL of my gear is insured for worldwide, unattended vehicle. I pay £30 a month for £8000 worth of equipment, I'm sorry but it hardly breaks the bank!
19. Oh great, Photobucket has shafted me here! I'll get some pics sorted with a new host later on. Thanks for the heads up Zomnius!
20. Just bought a Boss OC-2 from Chris. Absolutely perfect service! Actually bought through Facebook after I got shafted by another seller and put a plea out for another one, and Chris bent over backwards to make sure I got one soon as possible. Also bought it unseen, and it was in better condition than I expected. How can anyone ever complain about that? Top marks bud!
21. Still here, make me an offer - tax bill is looming!
22. Oops I missed this one, I was initially on wired but it quickly became a pain for certain parts of the show, parts where I'm expected to be centre stage for a slap solo etc, so I ended up on wireless. I've not yet bought any moulds yet, still using Sennheiser IE80s, but I've got the cash waiting. I really can't decide though! I'm after soft ones though, I've got fairly small and sensitive ears so I want something as comfortable as possible. EBS_Freak, I'll probably be looking for your advice as from what I can tell, you're the IEM guru!
