  1. I couldn’t move fast enough to stop Gary Glitter’s “Rock N Roll Christmas” piping up from the Christmas tunes CD I put on this morning. Not having that on thanks.
  2. Worth seeing what the drummer / bandleader thinks of this. We are assuming he is supportive of her idea, but he might be tired of hearing about it too. I very much doubt she’d play bass as well as the actual bass player, so then it comes down to whether the bandleader/ husband /wife are happy for the music to be worse quality for the sake of appeasing her, in which case you’re better off out anyway. Hard to know from the OP how serious or determined she is about it, or whether it’s just a nice idea that’s come to mind etc. I’ve swapped with guitar/bass/vocals in bands before for one or two songs and it didn’t bother me as I was clearly the better bassist. Might as well try and sound out what she and her husband want from this, rather than assuming the worst and walking out. If they want you as the bassist I’m sure they’ll be able to say so. If they actually want to shoehorn her in on bass it’s best you find out straight. Hope it works out either way.
  3. Playing what looks like a Mustang neck on a Westone Thunder 1A body. Thats sorted then.👌
  4. Withdrawing this from sale - bad time of year to try to sell things really, and gigs coming up that I can use it at.
  5. Likewise - a blue MIJ Mustang is normally a good thing, but not interested in celebrating either Budweiser or some bloke I've never heard of who works for them.
  6. I've depped with I think five different cover/function bands over the last few years and I reckon there's a good 60% of songs which are common to all of those bands - the floor fillers you can't get away without playing.
  7. I've looked at this a few times but sadly not in my price range ( though I don't doubt it's worth every penny, as it looks absolutely lovely.) I think it's a hard time to sell stuff at the moment tbh.
  8. If it's a decent payer, why not?
  9. I ended up playing Chris de Burgh’s “A Spaceman Came Travelling” with my eldest lad for his guitar concert last night (I wasn’t the only parent to get up and play with their child luckily). It worked surprisingly well and lent itself to some nice harmonies in the chorus. Shakin’ Steven’s “merry Christmas everyone” and Wizard’s “I wish it could be Christmas every day” also made appearances via the other performers - both top tunes.
  10. Best I would say are my second Yamaha BB604 - since buying it at the end of the summer, the two Yamahas have come to every gig I’ve done. Also my Markbass traveller 1x12 cab (so much so that I panicked and bought two!). And a TGI Extreme gig bag (for aforementioned Yamaha). It’s nice isn’t it when you buy stuff that immediately fits and becomes your go-to kit. Worst? Nothing really. It’s all been decent stuff.
  11. It looks like it says “crafted in Korea” on the photo of the back of the headstock.
  12. This is how I planned to use it - as a modular 2x12 rig. Might try this out again if I get some down time over Christmas.
  13. Dare I say it but I've boiled all my bass need down to two identical active Yamaha BB604 basses - they sound like a four-string jazz on steroids and cover everything from thump to rasp stopping at all points in between. Stick a fork in me, I'm done.
  14. I suppose it depends what bass it is @ricksterphil, and whether you'd buy it back as an investment or just for sentimental reasons. I've seen a few of my old basses around over the years, but I sold them back then and haven't missed them, so I doubt I'd use them again once the initial novelty of having them back had worn off.
  15. Couple of new pics of the bass a) in action and b) with its original tort plate. Also happy to include in the sale two new unopened packs of Daddario EXL160M strings that’s it’s wearing. They are medium scale to allow for the through-body stringing.
  16. I’ve gone full circle with this and currently have one of the 1x12s up for sale. The two together sound awesome but I find a 1x12 paired with a 2x10 is my perfect combination.
  17. I've never felt the need to tilt a bass cab. Whether its quasi science or backed up by fact, I prefer mine to be sitting flat on the floor as there seems to be more low end. Not sure if that's due to the amount of contact with the ground/stage/floorboards etc, or if it just sounds less trebly because it's not pointing at my ears. Either way, un-tilted is where they will stay for now.
  18. Nice bass! Alas I'm good for basses and looking to raise some funds, hence me putting the Mustang up for sale.
  19. Spending money for my summer holidays. Or some better IEMs. I suspect the holiday will bring better memories than the IEMs so I’ll stick with my first choice.
  20. It’s probably not the exact same one - I’ve had this since 2018 from a chap down in St Albans who’d had it for a number of years before that. But yes - its got a character and sound that somewhere between a P and a quacky sort of J sound, but also with a character of its own. Im not sure whether to keep it. Its lovely but has no real role in the bands I now play in unfortunately.
  21. Stayin Alive by the Bee Gees. Awesome tune but zero chance I could sing it.
  22. I hear you on that one. Nowt wrong with a BBOT, plus I don’t actually like the big hefty hi-mass jobbies.
  23. Not a fan of super fancy wood tops - I appreciate they are a work of art but I don’t like the look at all. I wish I liked Thunderbirds - cool on the eye but awfully uncomfortable for me to play. And anything with more than five strings just isn’t for me.
