I'd knock the Behringer pre out of that list for starters.... Have you tried the Tech 21 RBI and RPM pre-amps? They're both great and VERY popular...

  3.
It's here! Amazing quality and finish. Absolutely flawless and the action is good although the intonation needs a wee tweak. The box was still taped with Sound Control tape. As for the tone? Well I fell into the trap of treating it like a Ric with passive VVTT as opposed to active boost only VVBT. I had Bass and Treble to the max. It was soooo boomy and I was turning all the gain and volume right down and thinking 'too much zing'. Then a re-think, turn B&T fully back (after all its not 'cutting' anything) and reintroduce as required. Bing Bloody Go! Neck not as deep as I thought, no where near as deep as the Warmoth. Very nice to play in fact. I will put some Nickels on (Extra Slinkies) at some point and gold knobs are a must. Photos too. Peter
Congrats Peter! Looking forward to pics of this too!
  4.
Well, I've stopped for a break now, I'm getting sore This is the most different bass I've ever owned and it's instantly like-able to play. The pre-amp takes a bit of getting used to but I've found a few settings that really work with the bass by itself but it'll be Saturday at rehearsal before I find out what it sounds like in the mix and I'm guessing that this is where its magic will be. If anyone is wondering what an ex-Sound Control liquidation bass is like when it arrives, it's exactly like a new one but a tiny bit dusty; this even had the original Sound Control sticker on it and I'm guessing that by the windings these are the original factory fitted strings and there's lots of life in them and very little tarnish. What brand/type are they? Anyone? Also it's a killer P/J config but it makes me want to join a rock band.
Congrats Sean! Looking forward to seeing the pics The strings it comes with are Spectors own.... and I quite like them myself! Would be nice to get them over here at a reasonable price but they seem to be import form USA only... Lots of great Spector-love on here recently.... I'm getting lovely warm, fuzzy feelings.... finally everyone understands what I've been harping on about for years!
  5.
Hence the radical design changes to avoid prosecution... angle the tuners and fit a different bridge!
Yep, that was about it! Though I believe they did pay an out of court settlement to Stuart/Ned many years later....
  6.
It is an absolute given that on any given thread on a bass forum if anyone has to describe the neck of a Warwick that the term 'clubby' will be used by the vast majority of contributors... Yes? Well how come this Spector neck is BIG compared to all of my Warwicks?
Because the comparison is usually made against the current batch of Warwicks.... not the original 80's/early 90's ones...
  7. Hey everyone! Just to let you all know that my KISS Tribute Band "Dressed To Kill" will be performing our full 'pyrotechnic' KISSmas shows in London & Cardiff this weekend! 8.
I look at the maple neck on my Spector and think to myself that there's not a lot of difference there between a Spector and some Foderas.
That may be because Vinnie Fodera worked for/with Stuart Spector in their workers cooperative building in the mid 70's?
  9. I can see you next thread now.... "Warwick for sale.... "
  10.
Is there a red one missing? John.
Ah yes, that's one of the two new ones I need to photograph and add to the thread!
  11. Congrats guys! Great to have you onboard the good ship Spector! You'll never be happier.... you've found ergonomic comfort, amazing tone, stunning build quality, superb customer service AND value for money all in one go To celebrate, I've bumped my Spector Porn thread: Spector Porn
  12. BUMPING this thread due to a resurgence in Spector interest and a rash of Spector buying happening on these boards! Oh, and I also have two more recently acquired Spectors to add to this thread when I've photographed them....
  13.
Can't be ars*d with waiting for a used one and seeing as how I've sold one of my Warwicks... I've bought a new Euro 4 (a tad worrying as it's unseen and unplayed).
Congrats mate! You've nothing to worry about.... the QC is superb.... don't forget we need to see pics when it arrives!

  16.
Damn - that's tempting. Someone put me off by telling me they don't do much Dennis Dunaway era stuff! Jon.
Sorry, they do loads of the classic early stuff!
  17. I'm posting this on behalf of a good friend who plays 'Alice' in the superb Scottish 'Alice Cooper' tribute 'Gallus Cooper'... They require a new bassist, preferably in the Glasgow area or within easy travelling distance. Good gear and dedication required. Gigs lined up for 2009 including Glasgow Renfrew Ferry and a tour of some Academy venues. Anyone interested please contact Peter on: 07727 698451
  18. Hmmm.... I wonder if Arbiter will do a 'silly sale' on the Spectors they have left? Not that I need any more you understand.... Another interesting development is that Amazon are now officially selling Spectors.... see here: Amazon Spectors
  19. Just received this reply from my man at Spector... "Correct, no more Arbiter for us. We are talking to another distributor so that should be taken care of soon."
  20. Shocking story mate... I hope it can be fixed in the end.... yikes....
  21.
I was told that they have stopped by a Reverb store this afternoon. No details given just that they don't expect the situation to last long once people start shouting.
Hmmm... news to me... I'll check into it...
  22. Congrats! I'm loving my Genz Benz NEOX-212T!
