1. I've got that Warwick love Dunno why people complain about fat necks - they've got a deepish profile but the fretboard's not too wide. Comfortabel for me and my hands are quite small. I'm gassing for an Ash $$ NT at the mo (even better if I could afford a custom shop one).
2. Beyond a preamp I need nothing - Always DI through the PA. Although I'm building a BFM O15TB so I'm not completely reliant on the PA If you've not got a PA, I'd go with double the total power of guitar amps. For rehearsals an Ashdown EB180-12 does me.
3.
That looks a bit quirky...not sure i'd get taken seriously using one of those on my gigs!!!
That's why I'm looking forward to finishing my BFM cabs - Aparently you can expect weird looks when you first wheel them out, then amazed looks when they hear the tone + volume.
4.
Jojo - just point out you had a gig that night and he didn't - 'nuff said!
5. I'd be in and bring my BFM cabs if finished. Off the buy plywood this afternoon. only date I can't make is first weekend in Sept.
6. Cheers Gilmour, after months of deliberating I'm starting my builds this weekend - one O15tb for gigs and one O10.5 for rehearsals and jams. Happy, happy, joy, joy!
7. Commiserations Old Horse Murphy. We had the same situation last September - drummer quit with no notice. Took us six months to find a replacement but was well worth the wait. Now it's just one of our guitarists that's causing problems (but I'm either sacking him by phone tonight or he's being warned he's on a "one strike and out" at tomorrow's rehearsal).
8. Moag is the correct version but everyone I know, including me, says Moog
9. What sort of condition is it in? Got any pics?
10. Might have to ave a go at one of these myself!
11. Ah yes, but you think Warwick is pronounced "BLeeeuuurghhhh"
12. I take the hybrid approach - Ee-ban-ez
13. Yes and no........ At home on my own, or jamming with my old neighbour on his accoustic I love the tone of my Corvette. But as soon as I am with my band I just want a P!
14. Cheers Merton! That is heavy.. but i suppose its going to be.
15. The Hogshead in Horsham had just started doing live music before I moved over this way. http://www.maltshovel.com/ Can't think of anywhere around Haywards Heath and environs. Is Tunbridge Wells too far? The Kelsey Arms does a lot of music. West Kent College also book a lot of bands. A bit nearer for you and yours is the Crown in Heathfield.
16. Regarding the weight - how much is "a lot"?
17. The balanced out is for plugging straight into a PA or recording mixer. The unbalaned out is for connecting to your amp. Not sure about placement - I'd say distortion/drive wants to be early in the chain, but DI at the end.
18. My '78 sunburst/maple usa Precision. Sold it for peanuts (less than £200) in the early 90s.
19. I had a quick noddle on one yetserday. Very light, nice neck but the price was more than I'd been expecting (mind you, so was everything else in this particular shop).
20. Oi Sean! They've got one in Abbey Music in the Wells. Just had a play and its a great bass for the price
21. Hi Nik, What's the power amp? How about a DI box with a parallel out - the DI from the box to the PA, parallel out to the GK, GK DI to the power amp?
22. Bike didn't sell!
23. I voted 4X10 (which is not what I have). Probably won't ever get one (due to size/weight) but I loved the punch of the te410 I used to hire in for gigs.
24. No, but I want to try one
