1. I'm another one who finds Rotos fantastic when new, but they don't half go off quick. +1 for Elites.
2. Good choice but I'd still try before buying. It's a good but not very subtle compressor and for the same money (if you can solder) you can have a Monte Allum modded Boss CS3 which is similar but cleaner. On the other hand you've got the smx fans, which is both good, subtle (IMPO too subtle but I'm a comp junkee) and controllable (and built like no other fx pedal out there). Then there's the valve comp fans. Noisey but a sound to die for. Compression is like boobies...any is better than none, but we've all got our favourite flavours!
3. The Demeter is a serious compressor! I wouldn't use something as "budget" as the Boss supply with it. Unless you can invest in a serious adapter, just run it on batteries (unless you've got a lot of pedals in which case...Buy a serious pawer supply).
4. More suited to the studio environment than live as its hard wired and cat 5e doesn't like being coiled and uncoiled too much if you wanna keep all four pairs working. Shame really cos the singer in my band got really excited about this system (he's a wireless nut).
5. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
6. Was thinking about putting mine on here but I guess basschat has reached Warwick saturation point. Off to the 'bay with mine later.
7. Found out yesterday that our singer got a bit tipsy over the weekend and ordered a 20 cubic foot (5' X 4' X 2') flightcase for PA and mic leads. Oh the fun we'll have lugging that up stairs and onto stages!
8. I tend to swap about a bit, but I always seem to come back to stainless steel Elites in 45-105. I love the tone (both on my old Precisions and on my Warwick Corvette), price and they last a reasonable time. Rotosounds I love the tone of when they're new but they go dead too quick and I find them really rough on the fingers. I've had Elixirs on the Warwick since last Summer and they still sound good as new (although the coating is really shredded and looks awful), but they don't give me "my tone". Mostly punk/rock played fingerstyle but occasional pick and (very poor) slapping.
9. I got a HA modded Bad Monkey overdive just after christmas, which is a great pedal but I just don't use it in a band context and at home I'm more likely to use AU plug-ins than hardware for practise. It's immaculate and boxed. Up for grabs for £30 inc p&p.
10. Omni 10.5 with the basslite and piezos, more hi-mids and highs than your combo
11. Good selection in Maplin at the mo...... Got a new adator for my IEMs during the week for a princely £13.00
12. Think u can get them in the Warwick shop. www.warwick.de
13. Back in olden days left handed people were burnt at the stake for being witches - surely a 10% surcharge on basses is a major step in the right direction? Seriously tho, this is why my left handed stepson is learning to play on a right handed guitar.
14. You could put a jack into the eadphome socket before switching off if you're worried about speaker damage.
15.
A load of rubbers and some ear-plugs.
+1 and a lifetime's supply of Beechams Resolve (nb other hangover cures are available). At least in London most venues have a PA you should be safe with a DI
16. Cheers huge hands, and advice not too late - the band member who was supposed to be doing the ebay bit didn't even switch his computer on until the day after the auction ended Just keeping my eyes peeled for an 8 aux send desk that's not too expensive now.
17. No worries, in a way its a relief - I'm considering one of your 400w amps at some point (once the omni10s are built, new IEMs are purchased, I have my dream precision etc) and I'd feel obliged to have the matching comp if available but TBH I like my compression slid state lol.
18. Dave, any progress with the rack mount version?
19. Another fine example of a Warmoth build.
20. One pick-up two knobs and four strings - the magic has to come from YOU! Sometimes you just can't beat simplicity. I acquired a cheap and cheerful Encore P just before Christmas and now I'm gassing for a Bob Glaub (although it'll end up being a pimped SX lol).
21.
Happy Mondays
That'll have been Paul Ryder. +1 for Mani, I still love playing his lines - really annoyed the rest of my band last night by breaking into "the bit" from I am the Resurrection at every available opportunity! Two that I don't think have been mentioned - Bruce Foxton Duff McCagan On upright - Terry Lilley
22. Circuit diagrams here whih may give you a good starting point http://www.duncanamps.com/technical/tonestack.html
23. Kent, Sussex and Surrey http://websites.uk-plc.net/Specialists_in_...sting/index.htm Can't remember what they charge, but fast, efficient service
24. It's got a solid state power amp, so doesn't need to have a load attached. Solid state amps just need a load that is larger than the minimum (no speaker = infinite load). Valve amps MUST have a load that is matched to the output.
