1.
I hope Andy wore his jaunty hat
Brilliant!
2.
cheeky! more fine tuner (honest!)
3. Ha, all the strip lights turned on as you played whilst the police walked around to see which 'regulars' were in was always fun, I heard a band stopped once during the police check and all hell let loose? Ahhh Erdington
4.
How did you ever fit in there? I've played trad Irish nights there. It's quite an experience
It was The Acorn, oak trees and acorns must have been my confusion! Total sh*t hole.
5.
How did you ever fit in there? I've played trad Irish nights there. It's quite an experience
Maybe not the Royal Oak then? Quite a big place with the toilets entirely clad in chequer plate metal for easy blood swilling! I'm trying to find it on the map but I think it might have gone, it was in the centre in a typical 60s building?
6. We banned ourselves from the Royal Oak (I think?) in Erdington, all our friends band's had their cars damaged outside and or a bar fight during the gig, we played there twice without a problem and decided the chances of playing a third without a serious issue was slim!
7. You can also set yourself an individual layer on your tablet rather than view the entire band to use during the gig if you want.
8.
would be interesting trying to tweak your sound on the fly going direct into the X18, the interface on a tablet is tricky as f**k, I'll stick with my DI box thanks!
What would you be tweaking? Once the in ears he is using are set and the foh is mixed there shouldn't be any on the fly really should there?
9. I did a gig last year with no monitoring at all for the first 7 or 8 songs, when I say no monitoring I'm taking no bass amp, no guitar amp and no wedges (which were going to be our sole monitoring), nothing for vocals at all! Oh dear that was tricky
10. I got mine purely as a replacement five string version of my pre EB Ray, it's the closest thing with five strings, I haven't noticed any difference in neck profiles between the three SR5s I've got? My middle aged spread is taking shape nicely too
11.
I'll add my vote to say get a Stingray Classic fiver - they sound amazing and look fab. Beautifully built too...
Already done it
12. You could if you really wanted to just put a normal cigarette box sized di inline if you wanted.
13.
But you can filter some noises with a DI box.
I suspect an xair mixer can do about a gazillion things more than a di box! It's got a built in bass amp, compressors, fx and a 31 band eq just for starters
14. I've been clean di since around 2003! Go for it
15. Where's Gene Hunt when you need him? , bit of a clip round the ear until he confesses is what he needs!
16. I've never really understood the problem, there must be a hit record from every genre recorded on a Stingray, if you want to play with one technique and try and make the bass do the work maybe it's a problem? Play near the neck, play near the bridge, use a pick, use your thumb, give it a slap, cut the treble, if you are still getting one sound out of it before you've even started using the active eq then I'm not sure what's going on User error
17. Boooooom boooooom check 1-2 check 1-2!!!!
18. They do have a really strong pull, if positioned too near the strings they will actually stop the string vibrating and spoil the sustain!
19. I swapped 3 four string Stingrays for 3 five string Stingrays so that created a fresh start for me in 2010 onwards.
20. I've played a rubbish 37" B and a rubbish 34", I've also played some great 35" and 34". I've actually got a Fender with a very useable B which I never thought possible!
21.
I can't agree with that. Most of the world best players and biggest bands use amps and cabs easily obtainable from your local store. The likes of Ampeg, Ashdown, orange etc. If they're good enough for superstars and huge bands, then they're good enough for me! I very rarely see any boutique amps or cabs being used. (as good as I'm sure they are).
Most of the people using those on massive stages are usually wearing in ears though
22. That looks ace!
23. I presume someone on the tour possibly a band mate might have worked that out then and that's why they went to check on him, so sad
24. Afaik from news reports last night he was found hanging in his hotel room by a friend that went to check on him.
