1.
... but also that the George Cross flag was not much in use as a national symbol before 1350 or thereabouts.
Ha, don't spoil my moment
 2.
Somewhat false equivalence there. I don't recall that flag being used a banner to preserve the ability to own another human being.
Erm? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_in_Ireland You might want to read the part about "The Irish slave trade began to decline after William the Conqueror consolidated control of the English and Welsh coasts around 1080, and was dealt a severe blow when the Kingdom of England, one of its biggest markets, banned slavery in its territory in 1102."
 3.
I wonder how many people replying on this thread knew about the connotations previous to this week, or before 2015?
Erm... I don't think we're all that thick Tim.
 4.
The news isn't limited to our own countries anymore. It's global. These are the images that are flying across the world - via news sources and social media. This is what the majority will see. It's a very easy question for anyone wanting to use that flag - do you want to be associated with these images? The association and the assumption of support will be made irrespective of intent.
So it's a flag that represents a smaller area of a now United region of the world with a bloody history amongst it's neighbours going back centuries?
 5.
You'e just said you know nothing about the subject and now you preach about it? It started when the first anti-slavery President was elected. Not anti-potnoodle, or anti-sheep farming or anything else. The slaves had to be freed by force. I will bet you a shiny pound you would change your opinion after you've read a book or 2 on the subject.
Tim 'googled it' R
 6.
I'm building up to that, just waiting for the admods to relax their trigger fingers on the "ban" button.
Tbh when we came to see you at that outdoor gig the burning cross you lit really kept us warm all evening, it was a great gig
 7.
Sadly the flag has been hi jacked by nasty people. You probably don't want to attract nasty people. I'd lose the flag. Crazy how symbolism has such power. Good luck!
Same as our own union flag then really
 8. A new Sandberg will lose a massive chunk of it's value right away, a used Ray in lefty format bought wisely should be as safe as keeping the cash under your matress
 9. I was going to make a joke about poor quality binding but I wont
 10. Thankfully there aren't many awful basses out there these days, even as a Stingray guy I could happily use a sandberg for the rest of my days, or a yammy, ibanez or Squier etc. Anything other than a Ricky really
 11.
That's not what I meant, and you know it. My definition of a Dep is a someone who replaces the usual musician for one maybe two gigs only.
Lots of artists tour the UK doing anything from a solo slot on local radio to festival gigs with a full band, small mid week theatre gigs in the middle with maybe a trio behind them, the whole band may evolve during a few weeks, as I said before if the songs are good they'll work in any format.
 12. Lots of big name professional artists performing original material use deps on every gig, they are called musicians!
 13. Many people drive around all day in cars worth more where they are more likely to get damaged and general wear and tear.
 14. If your songs are good enough slight variations in style and instruments used shouldn't be a deal breaker, it might be different and from the audience's perspective they might prefer the version with the dep player!
 15. Is that two sets then?
 16. If they wanted something more vintage looking than a jazz bass it sounds like they wanted an upright bassist!?
 17. If it's a professional band then you can't turn down gigs for each member, with five members you'd have no gigs! Most of the bands reluctant to use deps are the ones where a decent dep could cover it easily, alright now and Brown eyed girl are known my most party/pub/function band bassists
 18. What exactly was in the box of the initial demo ones, Jack socket in and out going to a power amp hidden somewhere!? 100 watts less and no speakon compared to my decade old Genz shuttle 3.0 that's not much bigger than it.
 19. I think my 2013 usa standard Jazz V is fairly wide, the high mass bridges can go far to wide for me so that should suit you, it's a really nice bass too.
 20.
Why are stingrays so expensive I've got major GAS for a Classic 5 in Natural (Black PG) and maple FB
I'm thinking of selling a tobacco burst one
 21. Yes so you can play the drum quieter then amplify it, possibly actually to the point that the unamplified drum is louder! Guitarists then bring a Marshall stack to the tickled trout so we've no choice but the wheel out the Ampeg fridge, the whole pub is now rattling and the punters have left but hey "you don't need to Mic a drum kit in a pub"
 22.
Quite often guitar shops give out the wrong cases, if it's the right case for the series of bass....if you know what I mean?!
Good shout, my USA standard came with a deluxe case, because someone got the wrong one with theirs.
 23.
That wasnt what I was responding too. Dad3353 said his BD was loud enough for any venue, then he miced it. Look at his post. Also, you cant equate stage volume to out front. Even without PA, the rooms we play in If its too loud on stage its too loud out front, and thats with a 20" BD, nothing miced, and small amps. I also play drums and simply change the beater on the BD pedal and modify how hard I hit the drum to control the volume. I like the BD to sound like part of the kit not a sub sonic mush.
Hmmm do you know what a gate and compression does? Our mic'd kick has less subsonic mush than the actual acoustic drum!
